But it was Hamas, who govern Gaza having been elected by the people of Gaza, who attacked Israel and killed over 1400 civilians and injures thousands more.
So Israel cannot defend itself? Do give over.
By the way, Israel has been subjected to at least eight acts of war by surrounding Arab states since the United Nations gave those Jews the right to have their own homeland.

Plus the 400 or more killed by 7,000 missiles launched at them. Add to that the 299 hostages - men, women, children and babies.

    Starmer's policy:
1 - We support Israel's absolute right of self-defence, for which they alone have the right to define without restraints.
2 - Israel reserves the sole right to identify any person or building to be a "terrorist" or "Hamas Infrastructure" as it pleases. Therefore, by its own rules which it alone decides, Israel does not and has never ever targeted civilians.
3 - Israel may also interpret "Humanitarian Crisis" and the "Rules of Armed Conflict" as it sees fit. Israel is not subject to the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court on War Crimes. It does not need to be, as it has never targeted civilians under its own rules.
4 - All queries requesting further clarification should be addressed to the Israeli Ministry of Defence's Press Office.

When asked directly what would be a proportional response by Israel to Hamas, the first thing to do is to try to give an answer to that question, not launch into yet another denouncement of Hamas and forget the question. So that it had to be asked again, avoided again, and then given up on by the questioner.
Why does the UK have to stand with Israel? Why can't anybody in the UK choose to support the Palestinian cause? Is it not a just cause? We have a parallel with the Minsk Accords here, promises were made to the Palestinians decades ago and have simply been ignored by those that made them. Where is the sovereign, independent State of Palestine?
Starmer didn't have the guts to say that a siege that denied food, water, electricity, and other essentials to a large city population was a crime. "Israel has a right to defend itself" was repeated several times. Exactly what is Israel defending itself from by imposing these punishing measures on a civilian population?
