I know this was up loaded 4 months ago and I'm a bit late in commenting. But if you have gone to the trouble to strip the engine down as far as you did. I would have cleaned all the inlet and outlet ports, the valve guides and the valves them selves. Lapped all the valves (not just the one), replaced the valve stem seals. I would have fit new piston rings (checking all the ring gaps in the bores). I would have polished the crank shaft bearing journals (both main and big ends). Fit new big end bearings and main bearings. And new oil seals all round. I would have given all the bores a quick light hone as this helps the piston ring to run in. And new gaskets all round.
no way. Not on the modern stuff. There is no need to go through an redo stuff like the old iron block motors of the 1960s and 70s. These manufactures are requiring their vendors to provide parts that are ISO9000 complainant. Meaning they are only allowed 6 defects out of every million parts delivered. Guys are opening up engines with 200K on the clock, and the crank and rod bearings look brand new. Your chances are higher, that the machine shop is going to make the thing less perfect by "machining it". I did end up replacing most of the gaskets, the cam, and timing set. With so many people making 600hp on a 250k mile junk yard motor.. I can't justify the additional work or the cost of new rings etc.
The oven cleaner will give that oxidized look on some types of aluminum. The acid toilet cleaner likely also added to that gray effect. Easy Off is a cheap way to de-grease but the oxidation is the down side.

nooo! come back!
Ohhhh noooo 😭. It was so much cooler with the 390
hahaha, I have to give that 390 some credit, its a cool motor
To all the haters out there who can’t handle a LS in a Ford: As long as the engine is American made, who cares!
You should have done this from the beginning. Cant wait to see the outcome.
I hope that LS costs you a fucking fortune WTF is wrong with you people putting a Chevy in a ford
I'll go ahead and say it . Ls ? Major fail on your part !
hahaha you're not the first to say it
Sorry dude, it is your truck and its a free country but this just makes me feel upset, you had a really stout FE engine already there!! I never understood this swaps in fords, but again your truck Good luck bye bye
That's just wrong. Bye bye
yeah nothing for me here anymore. Good luck though.
I love reading the comments of all of the people crying about the LS. LOL. If Ford made a quality engine that could handle boost and be reliable, people would be using them.
That’s a load of bullshit!! Many Ford engine options that handle, last and perform better than that ls crap!!!
Sheep are always sheep!!!!! But his truck and he can put a big pile of manure to power that beautiful truck.👍🏼
Get an Australian Ford Barra in it...
Imagine actually being able to find one in the US. If you are going down that rabbit hole a 2JZ would probably be more realistic, budget wise.
Unfortunate engine choice
Coyote>LS
Unsubscribed.
Haha putting a Chevrolet engine into a Ford 🤣🤣
I know that my opinion won't matter ,but I 'm going to have to unsub. from your channel. If you want an ls go buy a chevy .
