Using a stock block with 1000+ horsepower and torque is awesome and most don't realize that they will take that kind of abuse all day long!
I know a guy who won’t stop talking about 460 Blocks like this. I’ve seen his garage built car and watched as it hit 7000 rpm without damage. Absolutely insane performance out of a cheap garage built engine.
You guys should tell people to oil prime their engines to make sure they are getting oil all the way through!!!! I have had to help a few buddies that had very low oil pressure or no pressure. Then I had to fix the problem!!
They replaced the intake manifold with a single plane because the dual plane wasn't flowing well (680 cfm) but they never indicated the single plane flow to compare.
Based on the power numbers the engine made I don’t think it made a big difference. HP barely exceeding torque, and peak power at only around 6500 RPM on an engine with a solid lifter cam means the heads are still restrictive for the rest of the combo.
It’s a turd. HP barely exceeding torque with a solid roller? Head flow is seriously holding the engine back. It barely beat the little 408 Ford Windsors HP despite having more than 100 additional CI.
@@mrmidnight32 LOL, forget the nitrous, using a stock 2 bolt block and off the shelf street heads, the Ford is still as good as the Chevy off road block and the best heads they can get for it. Good job on your BBC build, but I'm shure your audience would have found the shortblock stoke, bore & why go $2500 on a front mount distributor, when a crank trigger and electronic ignition is more precise and substancially cheaper in cost? Good job over-all.
They painted the lifter valley??? I have never seen that before. Will the paint last with the detergents from the oil? I mean, it could be pretty beneficial as the slick surface the paint creates could let the oil move more freely, but I worry about possible paint chipping off and clogging oil galleys.

And 557 isnt even the biggest a stock block big block ford can go. They can go as large as 604" assuming your d9 block can go 4.5" bore and 4.75" stroke.

I always thought studs were suppose to be installed finger-tight only. Maybe next time you build some big-inch engines, you tap into the General's BOP monsters. TA Performance has all you need for Buicks, including blocks. Rocket Racing and Performance has blocks n swag for Olds, and Indian Adventures does the same for Pontiac. But likely since Summit doesn't carry any of that, you'll never build them. Oh well...
Notice how the Raised Chrysler big block 440 Magnum engine block design that surrounds the crank shaft unlike ford and gm where the engine block ends at the crank shaft center line and the oil pan starts. That makes for a bullet proof bottom end. Remember the Ram chargers kids. Chrysler engineers who raced on the weekends. The other BBC the King is the Hemi which has the raised block and addition too that has cross bolt main caps. Yes guys were running Nitro in these engines at the race track in the 60's. Chrysler Big Blocks rule the race track to this day. Fastest excellerating machines on the planet @ 500 cubic inches.
I'm curious about the main priority oiling system on the bow tie, can it still be a benefit to a mostly stock build and have better than stock reliability?
It absolutely never hurts anything. On a normal daily driver engine, it's not as critical as long as you do your maintenance regularly. But given the choice when building, it's definitely a good idea to go mains priority - it'll save the bottom end if anything does go tits up compared to the alternative. ;)
It depends if you can assemble it yourself. I would hazard $5-7k or a lot more if you pay someone to build it for you. Trick Flow heads are not cheap so outside of machine shop costs that's the biggest cost.
