question: I want to use a 1.5 pliot pen to do Unical. What is the number if nib widths needed for the proper letter proportion ? How is that calculated ?
Here's a copy/paste from my Uncial technical info sheet. Hope this helps :Pen angle: 20° to 30° Ascenders: 1 or 2 pen widths X-height: 4 to 5 pen widths Descenders: 1 or 2 pen widths
@@calligraphycollective Thanks for the quick reply....I need a little clarification. i have three different books that report three different x-heights pen widths for UNICAL (4,5,6). Are those x-heights based on the pen size the author is using OR based on a standard for UNICAL regarding x-height ?
the book of kells example shown is a related script called insular majuscule, not uncial. visually has some similarities but quite different to write.
