Cyber Crime in Nepal-SAATH

Inventions from small tools to huge ones are made to make lives easier and faster. Likewise, "Internet" is an invention and a facility which directly aims to connect the global society but this facility has rather brought negative impacts mostly through social media. Therefore, the SAATH team conducted discourse program on the topic "Cyber Crime" with the students of National Law College. We had a vibrant resource person- Mr. Pashupati Ray, Inspector of Crime Department, Nepal Police. He has been working in this sector for the past 7 years and most of the cases of cyber crime he has dealt with, are because of an individual's carelessness. He emphasized on the term "think" before posting any kind of information in social media and sharing personal details to friends.
To add to this discussion, issues of piracy, misuse of social media and laws of Nepal were presented by the panelists.
We hope to have more discussions on policies and issues in Nepal.
