    Another great review. I played the original of Lydie and Suelle a few years ago and yeah the Switch port could've been better, I'm happy to hear that the DX version will run smoother. Their are a bunch of things I'm looking forward too in the DX version the two main ones are the stuff with Blue Reflection and the added DLC characters. One thing I'm dreading is the Final Boss; it wiped the floor with me over and over again, that fight both tested my skill and patience. It'll be interesting to see how I'll fair now I've played a lot more Atelier games.

      That final boss took a few times this time for me too, even with pretty high level characters! It's a fun battle though (and one of my favourite Atelier tracks :3), hope you enjoy the DX version as much as I did (I certainly enjoyed it even more after playing more Ateliers :))

    I'm so late to the Atelier series appreciation, but watching your videos, even from 2 years ago, makes me more excited to get the trilogies starting from Arland. I just hope the physical copies would still be available, by the time I finally have a budget to buy them 🥺

    I spent practically 100hrs with Lydie & suelle. Messing with the synthesis puzzle mechanic as a newcomer when it came out originally in 2018 was actually fun. (P.S. Suelle best twin.)
    Didn’t bother with getting any of the season pass content so the mysterious DX trilogy is perfect to get.
    I’m still waiting for KT & Gust to do like a DX collection of Nights of Azure 1-2 and also... I yearn to see a new entry for the series...at least to cap it off as a trilogy. I needs my Yuri action rpg & gothic setting back.
    Anyways, pretty excited for Gusts upcoming announcement next week. No doubt it has to be Ateliet Ryza 3.

    I don't plan to play Atelier Lydie & Suelle because it doesn't have English voices...I'm a person of ''no dub no buy'' every once in a while, that said, I'm glad to know that other people really like this game despite the lack of English voices.

    i have a question that might annoy some people but if you were to say what gender the target group for these games were is it more for women than men?
    im sure both can enjoy it im just curious i already have a few atelier games i havnt played yet but some of the newer seems more targeted at women
    maybe im wrong please correct me its just like the general look and feeling of the game that gives me that idea

    • @lovevideogames1
      @lovevideogames1 3 года назад +1

      It is true that both genders can enjoy the Atelier games, but with (usually) female protagonists, colorful graphics and pastel colors, low stakes story (some Atelier games don't have an antagonist), and more, it's evident that for the most part, the target group for these games are girls or women, sure, fanservice or suggestive content is something that in some level has always been there (Marie wears some kind of top or outfit that shows cleavage, and she's the first protagonist), but other than that, the target group for these games are women more than men...with the exception of the Arland games and Ryza games, more or less, but that's only because the fan service and scenes that might be considered uncomfortable is more present in those games, at least to an extent.

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  Год назад +2

      You certainly can as this was my first Atelier haha! Tbh it's not recommended as it is the third (technically now fourth) game in the Mysterious trilogy, so characters from the first two will appear and there might be some spoilers for those games. However, how pretty and interesting it was did get me into Atelier, so if you're comfortable with that, I say go for it!
      (If not, the Mysterious trilogy goes Sophie 1, Sophie 2 (a new title), Firis and then Lydie and Suelle (Or Sophie 1, Firis, Lydie and Suelle then Sophie 2 if you want to go in release date order and not have the graphics for Sophie 2 be so different to the slightly older original titles :3). I hope that helps!

    Seems as if I'll have to play this next. It's been in my Steam library for quite a while, but it's on backlog. I just purchased Scarlet Nexus, so now it may be trying to decide between Lydie and Suelle or Scarlet Nexus. Perhaps I'll just flip a coin. Great review!

      @@JRPGJungle I think I'm going to wait on Scarlet Nexus. Some games publish incremental DLCs, which can be annoying. I'm forced to choose: play ("incomplete") game now, then play again once DLC is published; wait until game is "complete" (which may be months); return to game after a previous playthrough with new DLC; or play something else completely for now. So Lydie and Suelle it is for now. But don't get me wrong: I'm not put off by Scarlet Nexus. It looks great, and the aesthetic looks really appealing. But I think I can wait a little longer. Maybe I'll watch the anime to tide me over. IIRC, you mentioned it in a previous video. Any good?

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  2 года назад

      Absolutely fair enough. Scarlet Nexus feels complete, but I can understand, I’m trying to hold of on the Scarlet Nexus DLC cause I want to judge it for my end of year videos etc just as I played it, but it does make it less approachable when it comes to coming back to it or starting
      As for the anime, I still need to finish watching it (need to get back into my JP Prime Video account haha), but I will say I think it’s better if you’ve played the game and the game will be better if you haven’t watched the show :3 that story is told better in the game IMO, so I’d say play that first and leave the anime for later if you feel like reliving it (at least that’s what I’m doing :33)

    The only game in the trilogy I didn't finish. Having brought most of the DLC previously it makes this even more of a hard sell for me😓. Simply knowing there is a 2x speed option makes me want to redownload my version even less😭.
    Maybe I'll get it when it goes on sale because despite everything I do want to spend more time with this cast.

    I'm torn on this one. It's an amazing deal for folks who are new to the series, but I got the original at launch in Switch day one and it's still in the backlog :/
    That said, it's cheaper to buy the DX version of this game than it is to buy all the DLC for the base version of the game.
    I'll likely still pick this up on Switch, just because what I did play of the original was wonderfully charming, and I'm glad to hear that they improved the presentation in the Switch version :D

    I definitely agree this is the best of the trilogy. I played it when it first came out and it strengthened my feelings about the series as a whole. If the Nelke content also existed as a DLC for the original version I would definitely go back and play it. However, there are so many games and so little time that getting the DX versions is not on my list. Also this would involve buying the same games a second time (I am even reticent about Nier Replicant for the same reason). I think Nelke deserves her own main stream game and I would definitely be enthusiastic about that (although I did enjoy the town building game also).

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  3 года назад +1

      I would love something more based around Nelke, she's a good character :) I'm happy with her game too, but if they did a second one or something later, I'd be happy to see more of her story :))

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  5 месяцев назад +1

      For Nelke specifically, anything you know about any of the Atelier games before it will help you appreciate the character interactions and stuff more, however it’s not totally necessary. When I played Nelke, there was still some pretty big gaps in my Atelier knowledge, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I also want to go back and replay it after I’ve played literally every title that made its way into it :3
      So yeah, hope that answers your question :33 haha

      @mathmagician517 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@JRPGJungle I actually meant the other way around. Nelke shows up in Lydie and Suelle DX, so I was wondering if playing Nelke first will help me appreciate her more here.

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  5 месяцев назад +1

      @mathmagician517 ah I see, apologies (I haven’t crossed reference the video in my reply so yeah :33) I played a little of the Nelke DLC, although it’s been quite a while and I remember it was hard. I’m pretty sure I appreciated it more knowing her, but I think it could serve most audiences (people looking for an intro to Nelke or people looking for more of her) okay :3 so, you should be okay I think, either way ^__^

    6:45 the only thing I didn't like about this game (and this is not DX related) is that they made Liane into a massive creep. She keeps going on and on about how cute Firis (her sister) is to the point that it made any interaction with her really uncomfortable
