Ohhh. HARD, SOLID, fire starters. Some of them needed a little more work to get going but burned hot. It’s not about the duration but the intensity of the flame. The music sets the tempo but your voice sets the mood. I’ve never seen bushcraft so literal. You can help me bushwhack, rub a couple of sticks together or get fire going anytime.
Does the Hexamine really smell like rotting fish? I notice hardly any smoke at all with either fuel tabs, but if any of them give off a powerful odor, you may as well just use them as mere fires starters for a wood fire and save the rest for use later.
@benzedrex I appreciate this video I'm just now getting introduced into the world of fire starting. I'm trying to look for stuff that is easily lit only using a ferro rod. I agree the output is key. I'm looking for a good combo ferro rod, magnesium and fat wood combo. Any suggestions?

This should have way more views
You need to put a burning time frame of each products !
I'm pretty sure that if you know how to use a lighter or a sparker and whatever you find in the trash/stickpile you'll never be in want of a fire.
I enjoyed your video but the most important thing was missing. the burning time is important but the total calorific power is more important.
i agree. the energy per cubic cm and energy per gram would be useful. i cant find it for any of these things.
He said 7 minutes for one. 16 for the cube.
@crerar01 I know and I mentioned it. The burning time is one variable but regardless it the most important parameter is the total calorific power.
