  • Part 31 of the custom 1976 Corvette Project. In this video I get started on removing the rusted windshield corners by drilling out the spot welds. Then I prep the replacement corners for fitment, drill holes for the new spot welds, coat everything in weld through primer, and weld them in place. Lots more work to do to repair the rest of the rust on the birdcage. Stick around for more videos.
    Thanks for watching!

I restored a 72 C3 Convertible and my windshield frame was also rusted out. This is a common problem with C3’s. My advice is to try and save as much of the original metal as possible as the aftermarket repair panel take a lot of work to get to fit properly.

Yes, I realize it's a common problem with these cars. As I mentioned in the video, I have replacement corners for the windshield frame. The other areas I plan to use sheet metal to fix myself.

I bought most of my birdcage parts from Davie's Corvette. I also got some from Zip Corvette and Ecklers. I'd suggest doing a google search to find the best current price and availability. There are a number of places that sell birdcage parts.
