As you know, we had the chance to see Epica live just over a week ago at the onset of their North American tour in support of their new album The Holographic Principle. And with this album they have something to truly be proud of. It’s an evolutionary step for the band as it’s heavier and somehow more melodic and musical, if you can imagine, than previous works.

We were lucky enough to sit down and talk about such things as the band’s evolution with frontwoman Simone Simons, who was ever so gracious with us. And her natural beauty and gentle, almost shy way, was a stark contrast to the catacombs, aka, dressing rooms, under the venue.
Among the other topics were Rob van der Loo’s contribution since joining the band, the significance of The Holographic Principle’s cover art, the theme of the album, the cinematic vibe, influences, and more.

More like 9 new Epica songs were played and then the rest were old songs. Eidola, Edge of the Blade, A Phantasmic Parade, Universal Death Squad, Divide and Conquer, Beyond the Matrix, Once Upon A Nightmare, Ascension and Dancing in a Hurricane were all played. Super happy she mentioned all of the songs that I love. Immortal Melancholy has to be my favourite song from THP even if it's not on the album. It just sounds like a song that has been played for thousands of years and it's just so beautiful. Same as Once Upon a Nightmare.

She is very famous, maybe because of all this popularity, she might be a little bit tired
Maybe people didn’t notice but she was wearing from end of 2012 to until 2017 ( I think) clear braces on her teeth and she had often trouble speaking properly with them
