Our master bedroom is the most cluttered currently. We move in 40 days... and the clutter always migrates to this mostly hidden space. I am not tackling that space this week. Instead, focusing on my very full bookshelves in the dining area😬
Embarrassed to say, my bedroom floor. It became my dumping ground for paper and everything else. But first I have to tackle the snow and ice I woke up to.
It's amazing that no matter how much we've decluttered, there's always more, as our lives change, and new things come in to replace the old, and so on. Decluttering truly is never done, but, thankfully, it no longer has to be overwhelming, as you continue to demonstrate! Thank you!
Paper is consistently my downfall! Grateful that you mention recycling. So many channels do not honour the environment and I believe that anyone who has access to recycling/donating/swapping should be encouraged to be mindful and responsible. Thanks for doing just that! ❤from Canada 🇨🇦
I found the FlyLady system and you in January 2017 - You explained the system so well and were posting the 31 Baby Steps - it made it all “click” and you were so kind when I asked questions 😊. Decluttering is a never ending process but not overwhelming when done little by little. Thanks for the motivation Diane!!!!
Hi Diane, today I am working on my past calendars/journals. When my parents were in the nursing home and their passing. My husband has since passed and I am ready to let go of these since they make me sad. I don't need to remember all the details. Anything important, I will place with important paperwork. I am ready to move forward with happy memories. Here is to 2025!!
I admire your courage moving forward in your New Normal. You've got this! After being a caregiver for so long, it may be difficult to think about 'What would I like to do now?' Stop and enjoy your solitude. Being alone certainly doesn't mean we are lonely. All the best from Oklahoma.
You are so brave. I have diaries from when I was a teen and in my 20s, 30s and early 40s. I know I should toss them, but my memory is so bad. I do agree that we should not keep anything in our homes which makes us feel bad, though. I've lived alone for years now, and love it. You will, too.
I have a very large walk in closet. Somehow everything ends up in there. I spent the last week organizing and decluttering. Three large garbage bags later, it’s all neat and tidy. I feel so proud every time I walk in there. Thanks for the motivation
I love decluttering and as we are snowed in here in the UK I’ve gone to a whole new level this week & tackled each room (just have the kitchen to do today). So far I have literally filled my car boot for the charity shop, filled a huge bag for recycling (when the bin men decide to show up) & listed 65 items on eBay 🎉 I hate chaos and have a home for everything but unfortunately my teenagers collect unnecessary clutter & don’t wear half their clothes.Luckily they have not noticed anything I’ve got rid of 🤫 Oh & I got rid of many decorations and the Christmas tree we’ve had for 10 years that was looking sad/tired and takes up a lot of room even when stored away🎄 I feel refreshed/lighter😊
Good job! As someone who downsized drastically two years ago, I applaud you for not waiting until the moving van has been booked to get rid of stuff! I had already found your channel about a year before we decided to move, so I had a head start. So many people wait and then it’s a nightmare!
I’ve just found out that I have 3 days to move our house hold of 6 people 5 animals. My husband has been off work with a bad back and one of our children is off school sick. It’s feeling like a lot this morning! But I’ll just put one foot in front of the other as Diane says! Asking God to help me through this stressful time with energy patience kindness to my family.❤
The Fly Lady system was confusing to me until I found your videos. I have been following you for years now and am thrilled with how streamlined my home and life are. Now I have time for those special projects and fun hobbies like reading. Thank you, Diane!🦋🦋🦋
Darla from Virginia, USA, here. I've been attempting the FlyLady for several years. I'm currently doing well on the morning and evening routines but putted out on the weekly and zone cleaning. I found you on the Organized HQ this year and you have encouraged me and helped me not feel overwhelmed. Thank you for your videos. Rah, rah, rah!
The silver pitcher is my favorite of all the things in that cabinet! ❤ Exactly why we should pass on our unwanted items to others; we all have different tastes.
Hi Diane. I found you in 2020 and using the Flylady principles literally changed my life of organizing and cleaning my house. I made it my own but the principle is the same. I watch you weekly and I am so inspired. Keep up the good work. I, to am 57 yrs old so I feel comfortable with you
Most cluttered spot? The sewing/craft/guest room/office. I am both proud of how far I have come and overwhelmed by how much is still to be done. Goal set for daily sewing in 2025, weekly work on the computer, and monthly crafting. I've got this. So far.😉
My kitchen thanks you! You know, when I first subscribed a few years ago, I’d start each week feeling daunted by the self-imposed obligation to clean the week’s target area. These days, I find that I get a real lift as I anticipate how inviting each mini-environment will seem after five days of sustained glow-up. Thank you! By the way, I’ll bet I’m not the only subscriber who’s already imagining your view of the canal.
Hi, I'm using the Fly Lady system since two years now and decluttered already a lot before that. It is good to know not to work alone in the zones. Thank you for your creative motivation to stay on track. No mega spring or panic cleaning necessary anymore. We can have everyone over now. Keep on! ❤
Your videos are so motivating for me, we are empty nesters as well and I definitely want to declutter and downsize! in 2025! SOOOOO with that being said I am happy to say from January 2 to January 5 so far I have donated 34 items, sold 2 items, gave 18 items mainly unused makeup and brushes to our daughter, recycled a grocery bag of paper, shredded a grocery bag of paper and tossed a 1/2 a bag of trash! Thank you Diana!!!!
Rather than adding this video to my watch later playlist, I started the video and decided to declutter the top drawer of my hutch. It has cookbooks and miscellaneous items I like to have easy access to. 15 minutes later and I am done! My fantasy self keeps thinking I will cook from recipes but I have had some of the books for over 20 years and never opened them. I live alone so cooking a large meal is just not for me. I kept my Better Homes and Gardens book and a notebook for handwritten recipes, but all the rest are going to the library for donation. I will also be donating some smaller things. Yay me! Thank you for these shorter videos, I am looking forward to decluttering ,ore with you in2025.
Great inspiration! I’m spending Decluttering time this month on kitchen drawers and cabinets …such a great feeling. My biggest hurdle is a hubby who gets extreme anxiety from getting rid of anything “in case we will need it someday”. Makes it quite difficult for my declutter goals😂
I did a major decluter before we downsized to just the things I loved and used. It made moving so much simpler! Even after I've found even more to let go of. I couldn't be happier!
That is so good to hear. There is stuff I have I'm not sure why I'm keeping, I dither over duplicates, and get stuck on books and paper. I want to downsize the way you have!
Happy new year to all of you🙂 I have spend most of the weekend decluttering in my office/guest room. I had a box with letters, christmas & birthdays cards. I read them all, and saved the best ones. So fun to read and remember🥰 And I had a box with negatives from when I had a camera. Looked through them all (thousends),saved the importend ,and put them in order. These 2 boxes has been hunting me for years - so I am very happy now. The rest of the office is very much in order🥰
I don’t remember how I found Diane but I thank the stars I did! It’s been at least since 2019 and following her has made every move and opportunity so much easier. Coming home is a blessing instead of depressing. Keep it up; I depend on your enthusiasm and timely encouragement.
Hi Diane. My mission this month is to pare down in my storage basement area. The floor needs to be resealed so stuff needs to be sorted and moved out. I was able to pass on my crib and linens to a lovely couple having their first baby. They are new to the country. My last grandchild is in a bed now so no more need. A work colleague gave it to me so I was happy to pass it on for free. I have de Christmased today so now I can face that next project! Cheers.
Im organizing as I unpack! we said we were going to buy a smaller townhome and sell our house soon well that soon turned into offering on one nov 7 closed dec 6 and sold our home and closed on it jan 3! We did it!!! Mortgage free and totally downsized! Figuring out the bathroom cabinet now while watching! yay!!!
I have the “bags” with put away, recycle and donate somewhere, but I don’t know where 😅. I moved 3 years ago. Tossed some things but still a lot off things in our home. I found your RUclips channel many years ago now, when I was looking for a cleaning system. I think that fly lady and TOMM good options are. It’s hard for me to persist the systems. I try to have an organized home and life but it’s hard for me. But I’m always trying and starting again. Thank you so much for your videos. I like them a lot!
I’ve been doing a maintenance declutter these last couple of weeks. It is so much quicker and feels good when you realize how much has already gone from your home.
Put away all the christmas decorations and done my home blessing, daffodils on the table to brighten things up. Plan to go through the kitchen pantry this week. Done some seasonal batch cooking so good stock of meals on standby in the freezer. Love the flylady system i don't follow it slavishly but its always a good starting point for the week. Thanks for all your motivation i don't watch your videos until i've done some jobs.
The basement is the most cluttered, but I'm feeling under the weather and will tackle that another day. Today, I might do the top of the refrigerator that I've been meaning to get to. Or I'll allow myself a day of rest and do it in the next day or two when I'll hopefully be feeling better. Today was also the day to put away Christmas. Now it'll be tomorrow or Wednesday for that as well. Thank you so much for your continued encouragement and inspiration!
I always find something to declutter when Diane shows up to the party 🎉 10 items gone from magazine style recipe books, bowls and a plant that has seen better days. Thanks Diane ❤
I simply love that you found your son's note. I was cleaning out and found a couple of notes my two sons wrote. These were for Thanksgiving back in 1996 !!! The notes contained what they were thankful for. I even found mine and hubbies, too. Such memories, their keepers for sure!! Go you! Go me! Saying hello from snowy icie KY USA... brrr ❄️ 🧊 🥶
I'm always so amazed and impressed at how much you're able to recycle in Denmark! Our system in Auckland, NZ is pretty dismal by comparison. Great video 😊
I did a pantry tidy up - all the Christmas baking and kids home on vacation had made it a bit of a mess. Nice to have it in order and know what I have. Thanks for the video!
I decluttered my kitchen table - correspondence, dates for the diary, appointments etc. Just my diary and a couple of decorative pieces. It looks fab 🎉 Woooohoooo!
Love you Diane! From a mom of a newborn and toddler here in California hello! Your videos give me the inspiration I need to get just a little done when I can.
Love your red sweatshirt! I have 80% of my house decluttered, but I have some hidden areas, 2 dressers that are in my grown kids empty rooms that are stuffed with miscellaneous crap 💩 😮
I’m going to tackle my buffet unit tomorrow…….it’s a nightmare I decluttered my whole house and attic in 2024. Starting my second round, it’s easier and I am more decisive this time. I’m amazed how much I hung on to last year!!!
Washing down the doors of my kitchen cupboards, it seems no matter how much I try to avoid getting fingerprints on the doors I don't have much success in that area. Tidied and organized my pantry and found a few out of date items. Sometimes I see a recipe that looks interesting and I buy the ingredients for it, usually ingredients that I wouldn't normally have but then I don't make the recipe and the ingredients become outdated. I will have to be more mindful of that in the future as I don't like to waste food. My mission this year is to use up all the food in my deep freeze before adding anything else to it.
Earmarked yesterday as sorting my wardrobe out but found many excuses not to start… so today I started emptying it but got so overwhelmed I ended up sitting and starting at the mess… until I put on Diane! Thank you for stirring me into action… had 2 lots of 15 mins and a bin bag to go to charity ❤
I’m been consistently decluttering through the zones for over a month now which I’m really proud of. I don’t think I’ve ever cycled through the zones before. I have a new perspective which is far less pressurised. I just take 15-30 min in the zone we’re in and declutter an area and/or clean. Simple - who knew?!!! 😂😂 Thanks for all you do 🥰
Great video Diane! I agree, just because someone is nice doesn’t mean it’s right for you. Recently I inherited some dishes and though they are lovely, I didn’t need them and they didn’t fit my style. I kept a small sugar jar for a keepsake but the rest I decluttered😊.
My bedroom is my decluttered win. I need to work on my pantry and decorations cabinet. Thanks so much for your videos! You are a bright spot in my day.🎉🎉
Watching your video motivated me to get up & work for 15 minutes. I made a cup of tea & worked in my pantry. Thanks for the motivation & encouragement ❣️
Thanks Diane for another motivating video! I have been using the FlyLady system since 2009-ish and you really bring it to life and keep me going. The routines have ‘saved’ me so many times in so many ways. Go us! 🎉
Diane, love your shirt, "Bisous". Currently working on decluttering books/cookbooks, my stand alone cabinet with small kitchen appliances, next hall closets/dishes. Next weekend, I will work in the master suite. I am determined!! 🎉🎉🎉
I’m so excited right now! We do the same thing! I have fun old notes from my kids that I’ll keep in the back of different cupboards. Then I get to find them from time to time. ❤️
Yesterday, I decluttered in my guest room where I have books and toys for visiting children. I homeschooled our children, and have a beautiful set of hardback Amish readers. I know they need to be decluttered but I couldn’t bear to part with them. Today, as you were holding those silver ornaments, I thought you would keep them. Your thought process about passing them on to your friend really resonated with me. I decided to contact a young mom who is homeschooling to see if she can use these books. If not, I’ve decided to just let them go. A big decision! ❤
I’m ramping back up my decluttering. Over the holidays, I counted unboxing all the packages and getting the cardboard into recycling as my declutter for the day. Back to all the stuff behind closed doors!🎉🎉🎉
Go us! I decluttered my essential oil collection by about half. It was my biggest area of excess and I was absolutely dreading it. When I set certain criteria for decluttering (e.g., donate duplicates and anything that doesn't smell nice to me), then it cuts down on the decision fatigue a lot.
The most cluttered spot in our house is our finished basement, but that is my husband's domain so the next most cluttered spot in our house is my office, which is mostly my stuff. I am starting to feel overwhelmed again but I am going to just do a bit every day and try to get ahead of things this year. 🙂
Good morning from Montana Diane! I am moving too and I appreciate your videos as you go through your items in order to declutter for your new home and life stage.
My study is the messy area. Stuff jammed in the cupboard. Thanks for the motivation. I’m starting to go through the house again. I regularly de-clutter. These past few months I have stopped. Time to get back to it. I donated three bags of items this week. More to go 😊
My entry way is cluttered and a hot mess. I decluttered my kitchen this past weekend and it’s a breath of fresh air! Will tackle my entry this week, as it is the first and last space I encounter and holds much weight on my psyche.
I found you because the fly lady’s website never had the lock symbol meaning a secure site. I gave her site up and have been following you for years. Then I discovered you on RUclips and look forward to your postings. You are so positive and make the system so easy to use. I do things my own way but with fly lady principles. ❤🎉❤
Trying to work on the neglected "game room". Plus, time to put away Christmas decorations and going through decor that has not been used in the past several years. Thanks for the motivation! Been "flying" for 25 years and found you 4 years ago and you have really made a difference with your explainations and focused videos. Thank you‼️ And Happy New Year 🎉
I am working my way around my kitchen decluttering all the cupboards this week - doing one a day. Today is the under sink cupboard definitely the most cluttered!

My home becomes more and more calming as I continue to declutter. ❤
That is my goal, calm home that is easy to clean without moving stuff around to clean
I’m hoping 2025 is the year I get through photos and sentimental family items. They are definitely my toughest category for decisions.
Paper is consistently my downfall! Grateful that you mention recycling. So many channels do not honour the environment and I believe that anyone who has access to recycling/donating/swapping should be encouraged to be mindful and responsible. Thanks for doing just that!

Mine too, apart from books, which I just can't seem to do. I shred my paper and use it to compost, which makes me feel good about everything!
I found the FlyLady system and you in January 2017 - You explained the system so well and were posting the 31 Baby Steps - it made it all “click” and you were so kind when I asked questions 😊.

I’m most proud of releasing Christmas items I held on to out of fear and guilt for decades.

I heard of the fly lady system way back in the early 2000s but didn't understand it until I found you. Thanks.😀
Love the 5 min rule, used it yesterday and I was amazed at what I could do in 5min. I felt very accomplished.
Yes, I found you through the Fly Lady system and I’m loving your quick start challenges. As always, thank you Diane! 📚 🎉

Ha ha, you and me both, Renee! We will be digging deep into dresser drawers this month!

Thank you for stirring me into action… had 2 lots of 15 mins and a bin bag to go to charity ❤
this was long enough to clean up the top of my fridge. Been wanting to do that for weeks.
Decluttering has been a huge challenge for me. Thank you for the great tips!
Just the inspiration I needed to tackle a cupboard I’ve been avoiding for way too long!
You are a bright spot in my day.🎉🎉
Thanks Diane for keeping us on our toes ❤
Watching your video motivated me to get up & work for 15 minutes. I made a cup of tea & worked in my pantry. Thanks for the motivation & encouragement ❣️
Making progress on my paper clutter. The cold, snowy days are making it easier for me to stay home and throw out actual trash.
It is amazing to me that when I declutter a cabinet that I find things that I forgot I had. 😂
👏😂
I cleaned out a drawer at my office for our RV Park with you while you decluttered. Go us. RAH RAH RAH
Thanks for the flylady reminders also. ❤
You are so very welcome, Sandy! We will be talking a lot about the Flylady system this month!
Thanks Diane for another motivating video! I have been using the FlyLady system since 2009-ish and you really bring it to life and keep me going. The routines have ‘saved’ me so many times in so many ways. Go us! 🎉
Super happy with my living room! Need to keep decluttering bedroom closet and attic.
Your energy and enthusiasm seems boundless. Go you!
Thanks, Jan! 🙏😃
I love that you kept the Top Secret note! You removed a lot - go you! 🎉
Yay! Thank you! And more decluttering coming on Wednesday!
I think I’m as excited as you to see your new home you move to.
I’m ramping back up my decluttering. Over the holidays, I counted unboxing all the packages and getting the cardboard into recycling as my declutter for the day. Back to all the stuff behind closed doors!🎉🎉🎉
Listening to your decision process is really helpful. ❤
Wow! You really are serious about downsizing. Your packing is going to be so easy.
I found you through the fly lady system....
I'm thankful for you AND the flylady AND the Minimal Mom. You three are helping me make real progress!
Go us! I decluttered my essential oil collection by about half. It was my biggest area of excess and I was absolutely dreading it. When I set certain criteria for decluttering (e.g., donate duplicates and anything that doesn't smell nice to me), then it cuts down on the decision fatigue a lot.
I’ve been declutterring like crazy ❤after I put things straight in my mind. I don’t need all this stuff
I love listening to your videos while cleaning the house
Took a trunk load to Goodwill this morning after decluttering the foyer , dining room, and basement since January 2nd 🥳
I learned and flourished with Flylady because of you!!
Happy New Year to everyone! 😊I've decluttered old shoes today. Yay!
Rah, rah, rah to you!
Found some silk flower well past their best which have gone into the bin! Also an old lamp and world globe. Thank you for the encouragement.
Those newer artificial flowers are a pretty bunch!! 🌸 thanks friend!
My most cluttered is a cluttered family picture and papers/files closet 😮
I been trying to declutter the living room, especially around my power lift recliner. Now only have a teddy bear and a square pillow on it.
Thank you, Katrina!
