- If you want to have success as a stock trader and give yourself the best chance at making consistent money online, you need to open up as many opportunities as possible. In order to open up opportunities, you need to operate at maximum flexibility as a stock trader, which means giving yourself the ability to make money when a stock price goes down in value. If you are a beginner to the stock market and trading, this probably sounds like a very strange concept... and all in actuality, it is! But yes, when it comes to the stock market it is totally possible to make money even if a stock is dropping in value! This is known as "going short", "shorting", and any other variation. Knowing this, the next logical question in terms of learning how to short a stock is... well, "when" should you look to short a stock? I want to show you step one in this process of when you should be most interested in shorting a stock so you can make money when the price of that stock goes down. Let me show you what I mean.

i love your education and your daily uploads very reliable source of knowledge!
Thank you!
I see some stocks listed as HTB (hard to borrow) info on that would be nice.
Good suggestion!
would love to see something on ssr (short sale restricted) explanations, im sure you have a video on it already but i would like to see some more in depth info on shorting, and problems you may come across, maybe shorting small cap vs large cap, necessary margin % needed for different caps.
I sometimes feel that these videos are for them who are new to trading and does not know anything about trading. You just have to search for the videos you want to be watching. Internet is full of content for free
I have an entire class on shorting here claytrader.com/takecontrol/trading-freedom-pathway-how-it-works/

Great!
Excellent content. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world
My pleasure!
Thanks this helps alot.
Glad it helped!
You Rock, Thank you Clay
Thanks for watching
Exactly when everyone is too scared to short TSLA, then short it IMHO. Most times when shorting a higher priced stock it's best to go long when the majority are shorting.
Contrarian strategy, I love it
thanks for the thoughts
Excellent video. Its all about risk management. Risk management of what? Risk management of capital. And its most risky to short stocks at the bottom. Five must watch things.
1. MACD above the signal. (I like to use 1 min & 5 min bars)
2. RSI below 40. Please do not short stocks with high RSI. (5 min bars)
3. The master Index (S&P 500) should be down trending. EMA 8 should be below EMA 20. (5 min bars)
4. Never short a stock with the EMA 8 above EMA 20. (5 min bars)
5. Get out quick if you can make about 1% profit.
Thank you Clay you are the best. Hope this helps.
Blessings & Warm Regards.
good thoughts
good vid thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I wanted to ask what is un/settled cash.
Good suggestion for a video.
Do you mean to go short when there is some bearish sign in upward movement.
When you got confirmation that the stock price will drop that's when you go short. Can only be done on CFD accounts
Somewhat....

Current broker doesn't short stocks (haven't made a fully fledged switch yet, not an easy decision), but another very good, simple video. Do more like this, small snippets of gold 👍🏼

And just like that he doubled his views by making it a two piece video. See you next video bud
why are you so bitter?
ClayTrader I wasn’t being bitter I just thought it was cool that you as a content creator are going to be able to turn this into a two piece video and double your views because now it’s being requested to be seen on platform
@@claytrader I dont know if that was to me but I wasnt being bitter

Mmmh if you watch key level, you can short as it goes down, just watch for those key levels to flush and stop out above that level. Retest/rejections
Oh look, an armchair trader.
@@claytrader sounds much better than shorting parabolic - thats the way you explained it..

Don't do anything Free
Free is not free.
This is maybe the worst fuckn video i watch, you never want to get in front of a freight train and you never want to catch falling knife, dont try to find the top and dont try to find the bottom, find the key levels and then take the trade, follow the trend dont get ahead of it. This guy would have had u shorting $MRNA from $280 lol rather than wait for it to come down and continue to break key levels sheesh
Why are you so emotional about this?
@@claytrader because you gonna get someone hurt, you dont short on the way up, I get what your saying but you failed to say you short pops that are in downtrends at key levels. Just telling folks short on the way up is blatant disrespectful to trading short
