• Raising Backyard Chick...
Chickens are wonderful to keep for eggs, meat or pets. This video features one of my most beautifully feathered roosters, the Rose Comb Brown Leghorn. The Leghorn breed of chicken is noted for its ability to produce a bounty of white shelled eggs. Free ranging ensures that those eggs will be chockablock with supreme nutrition that can not be matched by penned or permanently housed hens. This rooster gets his pick of the hens and is definitely the "Range Master" here at Fred's Fine Fowl. Please look at my other videos for information on how to raise your own chickens in health and harmony. Развлечения
That was a most enjoyable video! No talking and pleasant music while hearing the chickens too. Generally not a fan of music but this was very nice.
That rooster is my favorite coloring. The Welsummer and Brown Leghorns are such beautiful roosters in classic colors.
Has anyone seen the Golden Duckwing Cuckoo Leghorn? Check it out. Stunning plumage.
Also the Phoenix Rooster which is a cross from the Onagadori Japanese Rooster with the trailing tail. The Phoenix is also a splendid creature, but the long tail has its own issues.
I watch this video to think about the good times I had with my feathered friend😭
I used to raise chickens but now we live in an HOA that doesn't allow them... of course, they are much quieter than some of our neighbors' dogs!
+Michael Vuong Ohhhh what has the world come to that you can't have chickens ? You are welcome to enjoy watching mine!
+Frederick Dunn The sad part is that this is exactly what I do now.. I watch videos of people's Opringtons and Americuanas.. LOL
We had two German Shepherds living next to us. Barking and running into the fence when we were outside. I would rather have hens.

What is the soundtrack?
The music is as majestic as the rooster.
It's from SmartSound Music. Custom tracks.
Awesome plumage. We had a lot of chickens when i was a kid. Rhode Island Reds, Yellow Buffs White Legons and Domimicks. We also had those funny guineas. Best watchdogs in the world!
excellent! thanks
Nice looking rooster, hopefully you start bringing out more chicken videos. Take care.
THAT ROOSTER BROWN LEGHORN IS JUST AWESOMENESS

+Frederick Dunn haha thanks! :D
I miss you if you still up there rooster I miss you 😓 this brings back memories of my rooster 😪
i’m so sorry :( my baby leghorn passed away about a month ago and i still cry for her.
@@siftingz that is sad to here god bless him I hope the roosters are still living up their god bless you if I would ever come back to this video
I would think of him running around the yard
I’ll start crying if I played this again it’s really hard to miss something that really meant a lot
Hermosos ejemplares
Lovely! He's so handsome. Great music too. I love how proud Rhode Island Red hens walk. I liked the hen fight too. i used to have one she was awesome and a pest all at once. She was dominant bird, beat everyone up and did other queenly things like only lay her eggs in the house and not in the coop with the common chickens. hehe. I liked the red male that broke up the fight too.
+Thagirion9 Oh thank you! Always nice to know you are doing well out there! Posting a Rhode Island Red video right now :) you are absolutely right about them... and she lays in the goat shed instead of the coops...
Frederick Dunn
Thanks. Oh I'll be sure to watch that. Yes I'm still here just haven't been on youtube much. Oh that's funny. You have a "Your Majesty" also.
:) indeed we do :)
Nice video
Thanks! :)
Such a beautiful high stepping colorful boy. What was that sound that came out of his mouth??😳😳😳 what breed is he??
He's a Rose Comb Brown Leghorn
Yw, are these all egg layers ?
+Frank Harris they are egg laying pets... :)
I cried because this reminds me of him rip rooster I miss you 😭❤️
Great quality footage, what did you use to film with?
Hi Antony, this was probably the Sony AX-100B...
a camera. really good contraption.
Amazing, God is good
+Frank Harris indeed... thanks Frank!
Will the rose comb leghorn tolerate another rooster?
He is the top rooster of my flock, they have a pecking order just like the hens and once that's established, they are all fine. Each rooster has his own group of hens.
I actually just found out two of mine are actually boys!! But they are still young.
More beautiful than hens :)
Niceeeeeew
I could spend all day, every day just watching that beautiful boy! Mr Dunn, I can only afford hatchery chicks. can you recommended which ones are the best for those of us who cannot afford breeders quality? Thank you in advance.
HI Lisa, Murray McMurray has some pretty good breeding flocks, BUT Stromberg's Chickens and Gamebirds through the years have had the best stock if you are trying to remain close to the APA Standard of Perfection. Stromberg's doesn't hatch and manage their own breeding flocks, they contract flock owners and they decide who to source from based on who is doing the best at poultry shows nation wide and of course at the Ohio National :) For example, I found that Stromberg's have the BEST Rhode Island Red stock I could find anywhere. :) I hope you find the stock you want at a nice price :)
Thank you for the information.
Lisa Conrad or course! :)
I have to 2nd Mr.Dunn's opinion on Stromberg. I have tried many over the years and like supporting local or small breeders but the health and quality are excellent from Stromberg. All of my kids 4-h and FFA show birds were from them and always in the top 3.
Hi Jim, I'm glad you mentioned that and it's not surprising. The Stromberg's are often at poultry shows, including the Ohio National.. one of the things they do is contact top exhibitors to see if they want to contract for chicks and stock. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you landed one in the top.. best of breed, or grand champion at a smaller County Fair. :)
I had this bird rip my rooster I miss him the good old times I miss him he was just like this 😢😭
Are these leghorns violent towards chicks?
no
I think some of those are Easter Eggers?
Americauna... is probably what you're thinking of.
5:26 Masculine hens?
+Michael Vuong There are often contests between hens.. but as you can see, the roosters don't allow that behavior for very long :)
+Frederick Dunn I like how the other rooster walks in the video, taking credit!
what can I say... they are all proud...
Such beautiful and amazing animals. God was having a very good day when he made chickens!
It should be the law that all farming be done natural, which is the real way. Factory farming isn't even farming, it's cruel & unusual punishment to the poor animals being raised for food.
No arguments here :)
I am not a fan of these Rose comb Leghorns. Whenever someone mention Leghorns, it's their big floppy single comb that comes in mind .
Thank goodness there are lots of breed and type choices to please everyone :)
ممممممم
Nice looking rooster, hopefully you start bringing out more chicken videos. Take care.
+Chicken Hobby Farm Definitely more chicken videos to come this year...
+Frederick Dunn great will be looking out for them.
