- Today I am testing out the paradox kinetics mid drive motor on my BMX bike. I always wanted an e-bmx to see what could be done. This thing rips! I will be doing another video adding some much needed brakes and other parts to take this to the next level. If you have any suggestions for other videos put them in the comments below.

There are few bmx e bike conversions in youtube actually, but this is definitely the cleanest and nicest. That system is really well designed and made.

@@a_rabid_raccoon No it wasn't, he even uses click-on pedals on his bike to keep his feet in place. And to be clear, I didn't say he can't ride a/his bike, but he is still recovering and has a long way to go to regain enough strength/control in his legs.

@@JamesSmith-ny7le LOL I see where you're coming from but I meant slang I think this will take off. I could see your whole window for tricks. I could see a clutch down the road letting you roll front/wards and backwards without engaging. The weight problem will be fix with advancement.
It did blow up. They are called motorcycles and they are fun af. Been out for about 100 yrs.

@@ParadoxKinetics - I like how Mike has the motor setup on his bike, the motor grind was an awesome test of product and I'm thoroughly impressed, but I'd rather see it inside the frame triangle along w/ a small battery pack that can be taken off to charge. Kind of like the one Mike has in the video but maybe a little bit more contoured to the frame to help it fit in tighter to lessen the vibration and the potential battery problems, I had a couple of different ideas for battery placement too to help overall balance.... I was also thinking about a 2 directional throttle so you could throttle forward or backwards, but that would probably be a BMX specific thing only.
@@xpndblhero5170 yeah these are good ideas, it never shows but the motor is actually heavily contored along the middle of the top, allowing it tuck much higher than any factory e-mtb motor. The problem with motors for inside the frame is they dont fit most frames - eventually most people want to sell their bike to change frame style (eg. from a jumb bike to an MTB), and in our case this is much easier because you can simply move the motor to any frame after. We do have easily removable batteries that are only about 30% larger than mikes, still well smaller than standard, and we have ways to fit them to most frames
Wireless throttle/esc
@@lovin_lanaodi A wireless throttle would be novel. If someone has one+receiver, that puts out to 1-4v throttle signal, please send it to us 😂 so we can put the right connector for the receiver, test, and put it on Mike's bike!!

if you rig up some disc brakes from a mtb and maybe have two power settings you essentially have a lightweight, suspensionless sur ron that can still rip up the park a lil bit. actually might try to build something like this myself for stunting but if someone sold a complete bike this way I would fs buy it

You may be a better rider than the e-bmx target market. Very cool stunts/riding a heavyish bike.
So sick watching you in the bowl ripping. Maybe build a lightweight metal plate to protect the motor so u can still grind but keep the e bike shredding as long as possible. Just an idea.
we do have a skid plate coming to keep the motor looking fresh. With the toughness of the thick alloy sideplates and carbon fiber in the case, its never going to be more than aesthetic damage

I'm so old and it was where I got all my first tricks from...learned 'em all even the stuff at the end...I was so amazed that I learned them..only took me two years..I was amazing for a 14 year old kid.....very proud...now at 50 I'm just coming back....*well I did't stop all that time only the last 15 years or so...the kids got crazy as hell...and flatland...just makes me dizzy to watch :)

I would fab some kind of skid plate to protect your mid drive from damage doing those rail tricks. I have a couple of hub drive E-BMX bikes but I don't use the bikes like you do by any stretch of my imagination. My generation created the BMX bicycle with ten speed seats galvanized pipe handle bars, primarily for ramp jumping. But roll forward one hundred years and few dozen fractures later I build E-bikes for folks and fun but so I can keep riding. My wife thinks I look silly on my small bike but in the city, in traffic and on the walks this thing rules. Only wish I could show you here but My design purpose for using a BMX bike is the frames strength. I have built mid drives for 26 inch and larger but not an 20 inch yet I will be checking out the system you have there for sure. You can only take with ya what you came in with.

Left side throttle!?? My brain couldn’t operate that with all my years of quads and dirtbikes.
Yeah I had to put it on the left because my handbrake that locks up the back wheel when I put it on will be on the right hand side. I was going to try to think of a way to utilize the throttle on the same side as my brake but I’ll have to see how that goes.

@@MikeFede just use a longer or shorter brake lever. since you have a thumb throttle it wont interfere, just like thumb shifters dont interfere

Awesome idea but holy fuck! 😳 3700 dollars for this kit?!?!?! Not worth it especially on a bmx bike. Like I would love something like this for my lil bro but the bike was 150 bucks used. Not worth adding a 3700 dollar kit lol

If you could help I got a 79.375mm width and a 1 and 3/4ths inch diameter I'm trying to get a motor that'll work with it. This motor you are on is alot more than I wanna spend. Idk which way to go snd alot of companies won't guide me in right direction and I heard when the wheel motors die they feel like a workout bike

You can get 2000watt conversion kits for bikes that go over 100mph this isn’t new tech dudes, I build a mid frame 1500watt with water bottle battery in a BMI few years ago and it did over 70mph

He mentions having to send the frame to the company that makes the motor. They had to fabricate a custom bottom bracket.

Could you tell us more about the specs? Like what's the total weight? The laird frame probably compensated a pound or two, but what's the total? My guess is that it's about 14kg / 31lbs.
