    One reason why people think that muscle and fat are interchangeable is that bigger people tend to gain muscle easier. I played American football in college and needed to get heavier and stronger. So I ate a lot of carbs/protein and drank a lot of beer. Some call this the dirty bulk. I did gain weight (25 lbs) and got a lot stronger. This might be due to all the carbs I was consuming gave me more energy for my workouts. For those trying to get healthy, I recommend learning to do the pull up-Paul has a great video about that. And doing lots of push ups. I was at my strongest when I was doing 500 push-ups a day. Even when I went weeks without touching the bench press and came back stronger on it!

    @Kill Flash hey there, that happened to me as well when I fist started boxing. But my wrist hurt like hell for like a month and a half or so. But it went away on its own, just keep training.

  • @vikassaitala

    I used to believe if I stoped working out my muscle tissues will turn into fat. But I watched many videos like it won’t happen, it’s just a myth. Now my question is “too much of training or cardio kills our gains right ? So how it couldn’t burn only fat by doing cardio but can shrink our muscle tissues too?

    Hey Paul, Nice video. I would like to ask about the "muscle memory" concept, where muscle is quicker to grow back after detraining. I would like to hear your explanation of this concept. I have taken a break from exercising after a severe illness but my diet has only ever improved (edging closer to 100% raw vegan) over the previous 24 months. I have started training and have noticed quite an impressive growth over a short period of time (I'm talking less than a month).
    Peace

    • @mugandaje
      @mugandaje 8 лет назад

      @calbaking it's probably 2 fold. One the muscle memory, and two you've been there before, so you know how to train for your body. I think (unprofessional opinion) that we all have certain exercises that our bodies react better to. The hardest part about working out is figuring it out. Think of it as sprinters vs distance runners. Their bodies are naturally different. Part of it is due to training, but bigger guys with bigger legs just won't be able to run as long as a leaner guy, no matter how they train; however, if the train on explosive power- they can get quite fast

    Hey Paul great video as usual, just something I noticed that is a bit weird to me - you keep saying multiple time throughout the video "it's Paul with you today from the fortress channel".
    In my opinion you should only say it at the beginning\at the end of the video and it should be enough.
    Enjoy your day :)

    Hi Paul. While I enjoyed your explanation of how muscle and fat are two different substances, and not interchangeable, I did want to remark that you didn't seem like a very happy camper in this video...not that it's written that you have to end your talks on a high note with jubilation, or even with a smile. Of course, I always like how you speak, as I see you speaking with the voice of reason...and that alone is enough for me. ✌

    Hey paul i got a question for you .
    How many grams of protein we can absorb ? Like if im gonna eat a 60 gram of protein will it be all absorbed or some of it will ?

    • @JacobPalmerr
      @JacobPalmerr 8 лет назад

      In one meal i meant.

    • @mugandaje
      @mugandaje 8 лет назад

      @ YairtheBaws the answer is different for each person. The general rule is you should be eating 1g protein for how much you weigh per day. Example, I weigh 259 and I just can't eat over 175g protein. I would say try to get around 20g per meal. Good ways to increase are raw nuts, Greek yogurt, beans/lentils. You don't need whey protein, but it makes it easier to get your macros. Hope this helps some. Good luck

      @kill flash try stretching your wrist with big bands or yoga. Your body isn't used to that stress on them and the wrist is the weakest part of your arm. You'll have to strengthen them. Good luck

    Ok, so after listening to the video it doesn't make me eye roll at least. Already gained muscle (protein) doesn't turn to fat. Since it is the name of the video, I guess I jumped to conclusions. That said, I wanted to add that taking in too much protein to gain muscle does turn to fat. Sorry I read this wrong. Gained muscle will be used by the body for energy, like fat, though it works fat primarily 1st since it is easier to convert to energy. I just see people gobbling down ridiculous amounts of protein the body can't absorb for muscle. Some of the protein will just get excreted, but some of it will be converted to fat. And the process on the body to convert protein to fat is harsh. Just wanted to get that out there.... but again, read it wrong, sorry, good vid.

      Learn to read and use the English language before making insults, because you're making yourself look stupid.
      "just a book" is a belittling statement that implies that a book has no value beyond being printed paper.
      I said no book is "just a book" but every book has great value, no matter what it is.
