I was also there, at all of 14 years old. (So my dad sat a few rows behind me & my friend.) This was my second-ever concert, wow! Tonight it's the 53rd anniversary of that show. Thank you for posting this.
I was there and what a show. The Chessman with Jimmy Vaughan played as a Cream cover band. Hendrix was an amazing musician. The Music Hall was the best place . I also saw him at Moody Coliseum a year later. Good but not like the first one. Accustics in that building were bad. I was 17 and now 66 . Guitar player with a band and still love this stuff. RIP Jimi.
you lucky dog ,i was milked on big brother Jimi since 1967 when i was 13 years old. I visited his grave and layed down next to him some years ago. You could say i,m his little brother still devastated over his departure from this planet !
The first Hendix song I listened to. I remember pressing play and being blown away by magic. Been hooked and inspired by ever since. Rest iN Power King Hendrix.
I was there. And I was there the following night (a Saturday) in Fort Worth. Ach, das waren Zeiten! (German for "Those were the days.") (At the Fort Worth show, which was not even sold out! - he came out in what were obviously brand new cowboy boots and said: I've got my pointy-toe shoes on and I'm the squarest cat in the place.")
Actually I can tell you exactly how I recorded this audio and how it found it's way to you tube because I still have the original quarter inch tape. Incidentally my favorite from the show is Hey Joe. I also took a few pictures .
We smoked a pipe full of Hashish with jimmy backstage before the concert !! Jimmy was stoned in a good way !! You can tell by his guitar playing ,he was a professional !! We had fun for sure !!
All I can say is "Wow.!" I always wondered if they played this song live! This was an outstanding version, especially when you consider the technology they had that day; it sound close to the studio recording. Amazing!
a few years ago, there was this magical being posting magical videos of rare hendrix records. sadly, they're not visible on ytb anymore. luckily, I downloaded most of them. let's collectively not ever lose faith in magic
I went to all three concerts that Jimi had in Dallas. The third was at the convention center auditorium. Chicago and Soft Mattress (Noel Redding's band) were the opening acts.
saw jimi at the virginia beach dome in '68 just before shipping out to viet nam, never forget, never forget, he died way to young like many of my fellow gi's, never forget..........thanks
His greatest live performance ever was probably The Monterey International Pop Festival. Jimi and Pete Townsend got to arguing over which band would play first. Neither one wanted to follow the other and be upstaged before taking the stage. They finally tossed a coin and The Who played first, ending their set the way they always did. Townsend smashed his guitar, the drums. The stage was wrecked. Jimi was not going to be outdone! Wanting to show his love for the fans, said "... I can sit here all night and say thank you, thank you, but I could just as well grab you man and oh ... one of them scenes, but I can't do that, so I'm gonna sacrifice something here that I really love ..." in a low tone he can be heard saying "... (no, not Bob Dylan's Grandmother.) ... Eventually he played "Wild Thing" to close his set. His performance, including humping the speakers and burning his guitar is legendary.
you memory is not serving you well. The other bands on the bill were billy gibbons the moving sidewalks, The soft machine from england, and the chessman. Hendrix never toured with Black Sabbath.
+david g In Fort Worth ( just before or after this show), it was Soft Machine and Jimi Hendrix Experience only. I saw him 5 more times and Moving Sidewalk opened one of those shows. Possibly The Chessman but I do not recall...PEACE

Gotta love when people copy'n'paste shit, and then act like it's their original thought. Thanks for chipping in, Stevie.
