Sometimes I think that they chose to turn her into a cat at the end of the first movie, specifically for the purposes of her being part-cat in the sequel, just so Eartha Kitt could channel Catwoman again.
And it was to pay homage to Eartha Kitt playing Catwoman in a Batman series.
Her turning into a cat was definitely a homage to Earth Kitt being Catwoman.
Yzma’s change from political manipulator to scam artist as a means of achieving power makes a lot of sense, not because politics is a scam but because money is so much more powerful than official authority
And also politics is a scam.

Maybe I think that the idea of the youth potion came from Kingdom of the Sun, so this movie is probably using a lot of references and old ideias

I saw yzma's Halloween soiree on video live from Disneyland Paris.
Well there is that deleted song Snuff Out the Light. It was her villain song back when she was an evil necromancer trying to regain her youth by blotting out the sun. Ya the first draft of the Emperor's New Grove was something.
Yzma's song yzmopolis is a popular song.
This was a direct-to-video movie, yet, it looks just as good as the theatrical first movie. What a rarity.
Not a terrible movie but by no stretch of the imagination is it as good as the first.
not ot mention it was one of Disney's direct-to-DVD sequels that resorted to short stories instead of a single, flowing narrative. meh.
The quality of the movie in general (including plot and everything) was not the point. It just *looks* as good (e.g. the quality of Yzma's animation).

Too be blunt. that's because the original's animation was pretty much direct to video quality. TENG is one of the movies that if you love the humor, you will love the movie, if you don't love the humor you will think it's complete rubbish. The animation and drawings aren't going to impress anyone on their own merits.

Yzma is one of my favorite Disney characters. Not just Villans bur characters period. She is Incredibly voiced both in english and swedish( my native language) where she was actually played by two different actresses . One for the original masterpiece of a movie and another for the sequel and tv show. She is such an amazing creation of Disney animation.
RIP the the extraordinary miss Eartha Kitt. Your legacy will live on with this character.

Maye cuz the song writers are only good at writing those song so they have to it that way for it to sound good.

Not even close. She died in 2008. This movie was released in 2005. Her last movie was And Then Came Love in 2007. Between 2005 and 2008 for tv she was on My Life as a Teenage Robot, The Emperor's New School, and American Dad. She did a live show a month before her death. After her death she had a role on Wonder Pets as Cool Cat and on the Simpsons as herself.

you know, it occurs to me that this is a huge step down for Yzma. She want from almost successfully taking over the kingdom after attempted regicide(failed) and had magic potions that WORKED, and she was very ambitions and determined to make sure the king was dead. Here, she's simply a con artist trying to get rich quick, and her potion doesn't even work!
Truly this was the darkest moment in Yzma's life.
in this movie her potions still work, she turns herself into a bunny, and the option of eternal youth doesn't work because she doesn't want to, she wants money fast and easy xD
