This “Mission 2 Mars” MOOC on iMooX.at, illustrates the motion of planets and expounds to course attendees how they can plan, calculate, and visualize the flight of crewed and uncrewed spacecraft to Mars, based on Kepler’s three laws of planetary motion and Newton’s law of universal gravitation. Also included is the flight of a spacecraft featuring a rotating ring to provide an artificial gravity habitat for spacecraft crews on extended space missions.
The course consists of 5 units. The time required for the course was estimated at 2 hours per unit.
