The years go by but if there's one thing I will NEVER forget about this series is Mrs. April Bowlby as Kandi! The woman was simply superb on the role, very cute and charismatic. Then Kelly Stables (Melissa) comes in close second.
There actually isn't that many takes. Sitcoms have to flow fast, especially because you are in front of a live audience (most of the time). You have 4 cameras on dollys, running with 2000 foot mags each. The gate is pulling at 3-perf, instead of the typical 4-perf, because of the aspect ratio. So you waste less film. You get about 20 minutes roll time per mag change. This allows the actors to flow through their mistakes, instead of stopping and slating another take like on single camera productions. So if Kelsey Grammer forgets a line while hanging a coat (which he was notorious for, not a bad thing. He felt it made him more spontaneous), he would simple go back a couple marks and re-act the scene while the cameras kept rolling. Four cameras gave the editor a lot of leverage to assemble it. I love sitcom productions. A lot fun!

Two and a Half men, so shallow and funny, but brilliantly written... 'Gee-I'm-a-tree'... was just one of the perfect lines. April Bowlby is a fantastically smart terrific actor.
