I lived in Port St Lucie, Fl during Wilma... 90+mph wind gusts.. Portable toilets were blowing in the wind like toys... The roof of my house was shifting...
On this date, 18 years ago (10/24/2005) Wilma made landfall near Cape Romano FL. It tracked near west Miami-Dade and across to the southeast coast of Florida. I survived 90-100 MPH sustained winds in Miami, and lost some small palm trees and roof shingles from my home. It was insane , I will never forget it.
recon found otis on the cusp of major hurricane strength, find it odd how many cyclones have reached major hurricane equivalent worldwide this year so far, way way more than last year
Crazy right. I think 2023 is going to be a year to remember. 2023 will be known as the year that the Earth broke. Faster than expected is the new mantra and full on societal collapse is already being experienced by many humans around the world already. Collapse isn't evenly distributed and hasn't fully progressed for much of the world... The 1st world is safe for now but for how long can the bread baskets continue pumping out nutrients for 8 000 000 000 humans on a planet that is completely different than the planet of yesteryear. The earth we are moving into probably can't support this many humans so prepare yourselves and buckle up, this next few years is gonna be absolutely crazy. A BoE equivalent event is taking place in Antarctica this year and next year this will combine with El Nino to create some truly insane conditions.
thanks again for update. Hurricane season is not over ....something is brewing out there ...whether or not it develops and pattern maybe there but it could be just a tropical disturbance hopefully ...no more storms ...Florida is closed...wishful thinking.
Uh, I don't expect Tammy to become a major hurricane as dry air has gotten into the system with increasing wind shear according to Accuweather and other major sources. It'll weaken and fizzle at some point before it can become a major storm.
I was living in Parkland, FL at the time Wilma came ashore. I was 8 years old and its what jump started my passion for weather!

Wow, it was only 2 days ago the NHC had Otis peaking out around 40 mph
Expected to peak at 140mph

it ended up being a worse case scenario, weather this year has been definitely
crazy @@terryboldenjr.3555
That's a great brand new saying !! 😁
Like the El Nino is favourable for tropical activity now in the atlantic compare to la nina conditions in 2021 and 2022 respectively😁
Look like Tommy going in a circle
Yeah, I remember Wilma!

Otis, that’s the one
The pattern will be set, El Nino is not going to have any effect on the rest of hurricane season.
Tammy, stay away from Florida. Don't kill anyone.
Florida is closed for tropical business!
I hope so🙏🏼
