    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  4 месяца назад

      It’s a really old one, may have been taken down for some reason (I honestly can’t recall). Super simple though, just a paperclip in the hole and a dip! The blade is so thin it only needs about 3 seconds on the heat before dipping into the fluid bed.

    Great Vid. Might try to do something similar on my Poison swingtail mold to use with custom wireforms... Maybe you could use some rtv red gasket around the hook eye to lessen the flashing? Awesome looking jig!

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад

      Most definitely, RTV is a great option to lessen the flashing. Thanks man!

    What’s the best way to clean the lead off of the hook eye? I did the mod and did a test pour. It poured great, but I’m struggling to get the lead cleaned off the eye.

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  3 месяца назад +1

      A good set of flush cutters is key. Cut under the eye, “around” the shaft, to free it from the body. Flush cut one side of the hook eye as well. Then cut about 1/4-1/2 way through the other side of the eye and twist the cutters. What you’re trying to do it “pull” the remaining lead through the eye. If that doesn’t work you can get an awl or pointed file.. or maybe a fine point nail setter… anything with a tip thinner than the hook eye, put the jig on the work bench (NOT in your hand!) and shove the lead through.
      One other thing I did, not in the video, was use some high temp Red RTV and partially fill the channel I made leading to the new eye. That helped to stop the lead from getting to the eye… made life a lot easier!
      Hope this helps!

    Honest question here, does the z-man patent talk about connecting the blade to head or to the hook? Yes in video you mentioned head but just to confirm...😊

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yup, to my understanding, it’s blade to head connection as that’s what generates the sound they want to protect. I think the only caveat is that it has to be a permanent connection as well, which is how things like the Queens Tackle Switchblade gets around the patent. It’s a direct connect but it’s removable.
      All that said I could be wrong, so Google is your friend!

    • @eeriggione5559
      @eeriggione5559 9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your answer. I was wondering that if patent talks about hook, just replacing hook to short shank straight shank hook and adding some connector link from hook eye inside the head should do the trick. But if its jigs head as a whole it wouldn't make a difference.@@SDGCustomLurecraft

    By modifying to accept the flat eye, will you still be able to pour vertical eyes with decent success?

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад +1

      I was wondering the same and AAAAALMOST poured a vertical eye on camera just to see. Will definitely do so though and find out. I don’t think it will be a problem, just some extra lead to clean up around the hook eye - same as the flat eye situation I shows on the video. Small price to pay for the versatility!

    Is that flashing happening all the time?
    Just curious, I have modified a mold and that happens all the time so it’s no big deal.
    Hard to Susan with you on not wanting any problems with Z man. For someone who only pours for himself it’s something I don’t need.
    Excellent jig btw. That flash is a nice touch.

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man! If the flashing you’re talking about is the lead around the eye, yeah, that will be a cleanup every time. A small price to pay for a cool bladed jig head! Re: Zman… it’s crazy that they’ve contacted both sellers and private users… I guess when guys post their builds and they see an infringement, they are on it! Kudos to them for being diligent! Thx again! Always appreciate your feedback my friend!

      @@SDGCustomLurecraft If you fill in that eye cavity with high temp RTV silicone you can then use an X-acto knife to clean out just the eye portion to keep from getting that flash.

    Not sure what program you edit with but with Final Cut Pro you can edit out the background noise of the air conditioner running. Something to think about if it really starts to bug you long term. Awesome jig by the way!

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад +1

      Man, that would be nice. I really hate that background hummmmmmmm… Unfortunately, I use a web based editor because I don’t own a computer with enough umph to handle real editing software. Very little I can do with audio with that seeviceZ. Perhaps one day I’ll get a legit setup, LOL! Glad you dig the build!

    The only problem with this method is that the blade does not hit the head when it "chatters" just not the same.

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад

      Yup, fair point. There’s no true replacement for a Zman setup! I do add rattles (sometimes 2!) to provide some noise. Seems to work well as I’ve caught a bunch on a rattling split ring chatter! Thanks for watching and thanks the comment!
