The song, which comes from the 1983 album Synchronicity, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks. Since its release, Every Breath You Take has become Sting and the Police's signature song and is responsible for over a quarter of Sting's music publishing income.
