One of the best videos you've made, even if it's a summer one. A real emergency shelter and well done for making it with the few materials you found washed up on the shore. You're really slowly starting to become a teacher even though you're very young.

Yes I love how he uses whatever he can salvage from his surroundings and he is very careful not to disturb nature.
Even beautiful when it storms... thank you for these posts , if you live in a city , they give a sense of peace , hard to come by these days.
Sat here in my garden, I have a tent pitched with a small patch of grass trying to absorb what little nature is in my reach surrounded by dense concrete, sirens, people scurrying about their daily routines, enslaved to the system and money is our master, working 60+ hours per week, increases in cost of living, living to work and not working to live. I watch many of your videos and I can't help but wonder why you n ever use your kayak as parts of your shelter ? you come to this area in it and it's part of your shelter and transport so why not incorporate in the survival ?

You were lucky that thunderstorm was so far away. I'd say 30-50Km from your position. Had it been on top of you, you wouldn't be able to shelter yourself under a couple of sticks, using dry seaweed as a ceiling, or maintaining a non sheltered fire, like you did. Also depending on the sea state, staying so close to the waterfront could become extremely risky, since you could easily have been washed over by big waves. Several clusters of low trees were next to your position, where your canoe in conjunction with tree branches and leaves as a roof, would provide a far sturdier and more secure shelter.
I think he knows all that, knows the weather and can make the shelters you so helpfully suggested. But that's because he's out summer and winter.

If he had brought his mum along she could have worried about all the perceived risks and stuff that may have happened had things been different

As you know the storm is coming in, it is unwise to stay on the wide opened beach ! If I were you, for safety purpose, I would move the shelter to the bushes behind the beach where there would be less windy and rain. Perhaps, you would like to show off yourself how strong you're ... young man !
