I've been making videos that feature the power of the MicroKorg/MS200 engine for 4 years. I believe the MicroKorg is a modern classic still being made today. This video showcases the power of the MicroKorg, showing off basses, lead sequencing pads and atmosphere.
The MicroKorg will always have a place in my studio, hope you enjoy the sounds!

I bought one back in 2010 it was my first real synth besides an old cs1x I bought at a pawn shop they both changed my life I went from a solo guitarist of fourty years to a synth nerd overnight I now have a studio full of synths over 50 all different brands sorry the guitars have been collecting a bit of dust I'd also like to note that I have an extensive guitar effects pedal collection to be honest it's what pushed me towards synth I love the sounds of the petals better than I love the sounds of the guitar itself but don't get me wrong it's still one of my favorite instruments and music would be nothing without guitar still have the C's and micro Korg to this day they get used in all of my tracks I hate the term dated when it comes to sounds I feel all synths and electronic instruments are way ahead of their time and thank you so much for the demos they are awesome and so are you

Great little synth. This was my first actual keyboard synth I bought used in '08. Still have it 12 years later. For a little synth it sure sounds big and fat. I'll never get rid of mine. I recommend this for all users, novice or pro. Always great videos Todd. 👍👍👍👍👍

Just finished the first song, I dig it! Kinda gives me some n64 goldeneye vibes but I'm not really sure why. Either way sounds like it would be a fantastic piece for cinematic ambience in a film or video game intro/whatever vibe it was specifically fit in.
Sorry for the ramble, loved it!

I've had this thing for a year now and still feel a little lost. Finding it hard to wrap my head around the extensive menu diving this thing has.
I got it as it was recommended as a first synth.
You can definitely go straight in and have fun, but to truly master this thing is daunting.

It gets snagged a lot as "starter" synths but like you said it's not always the easiest synth to start on when learning to tweak settings. That aspect of the synth takes heavy exploring or previous knowledge of synths. I would say the "stand out" sections that give the most bang for the buck are effects section, delay is insane in this machine and can make even presets stand out. OSC ,ENV & Filter. Then maybe the mixer to balance your OSC. Again, play with delay .. makes things come alive fast. I'd really just focus on those aspects at first and branch out.

It was my first synth and it did take a while for me to understand how to change stuff effectively and efficiently deeper inside. I started out being pretty limited to just using the 5 parameter changing knobs for their default destination: cutoff, res, attack, release, tempo.
Then I got comfortable enough to at least use the 2 edit select knobs to add the modulation effect, delay, and arp, which I commonly used to change stuff up on the preset patches (I like to use them as starting points and have barely saved over any of them).
Amongst steadily learning a lot more about synthesis in general helping out a very good bit,
The most helpful thing I learned about the MK interface is that after you start changing the deeper parameters, you can actually still change the 5 parameter knobs back to their default functions, which I found incredibly useful. Cause having to go into the filter section specifically just to sweep the filter (after changing some other parameters, like the arp or something) is super unintuitive in the moment.
If this seems helpful let me know if you dont knoe how, I can try and explain it. Took me FOREVER to even find in the manual, and I was specifically looking for that function. Lol

Blucifer. I started by picking my favourite sounds and worked through each one with the manual and a notebook. After several patches I started to get an idea of what was going on. The notes help me remember important points in my own words when I come back to it after a while.
Try to stay aware that there are audio signals and control signals that get routed around. The control signals affect the behaviour of the various modules (e.g. the ocillators, filter, and amplifier) and the control signals are affected by the LFO, pitch wheel, modulation wheel, and envelope generators.

Todd I think you have real talent. I’d love to just run out and buy a Microkorg so I can bask in some lush soundscapes of my own, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to do what you do. Thank you for the inspiration to keep at it though.

Thank you for the strong words, Them and the support mean a lot. Just takes a little time and a machine that you vibe with in sound. I'm very limited on real knowledge of music, I just built a "style" over years of playing. Your style and what comes out might be different but pretty sure you can find a vibe. I'm always learning, I'm all self taught and never researched any real theory. If I can you do it, you can =)

I have found an extremely useful way to use the Microkorg: To give my Minilogue XD additional filter, efx, lfos, and a keyboard (for the module version)! Using the audio in function allows me to do this. And it saves me an input on my mixer! lol

Danggg, that was pretty sick man. I just finished the whole vid, wow the MK sounds so full and more lush with that eventide iOS app. I should prob get an iPad, or a slightly older model cause I cant afford and don't really need the newest ones, as nice as I'm sure they are. I'd really love to play with Korg gadget too, and the Moog synths on ios.
    GREAT SOUNDS AND SCAPES MAN

Yep, it has something special and different I haven't really heard the flavor of on other synths.
I mean, crunchy and gritty are generally decent ways to describe korg synths compared to others anyway, even since the earlier days of korg synth. I always love the sound of their character

Are you adding additional spatial effects in the box? Sounds amazing. I’ve owned mine for 18 years now and there’s not a lot of gear I own that can say the same. I just happened to be working at guitar center while attending college when it came out. I’m a guitarist and I remember being excited to be able to afford a good sounding synth that I didn’t have to get an engineering degree to make music with.

Some are 100% pure MK others have FX. Parts that have FX are the first track and the 2 other parts with "drenched in blackhole". All other sounds are 100% MK with no added external FX
