  • The backwaters of the Cedar Key area are a kayak angler's paradise. It takes a while to get used to the extreme low visibility, but this is what makes it possible to sneak up close to tailing black drum and rolling tarpon.

    Awesome buddy ! Are you at Shell Mound ? I live in High Springs and just learning. I'm looking at kayaks now.

      Yeah, this is all from Shell Mound. And if I can make a recommendation, get a pedal drive kayak if you can swing it. I wish I'd have spent an extra few hundred dollars to free up my hands.

    Fish those mullet under a balloon or float; keep them up. It doesn't eliminate the shark bite, but it helps.

      @@CarsonPrichard No problem. Plus there's no top water bite like a tarpon top water bite!
