- In this video, I explain the difference between an Adjective Complement and a Predicate Adjective.
The Adjective Complement (AC) is NOT the same structure as the Predicate Adjective (PA). Though different from the PA, the AC CAN indeed be found INSIDE of a PA. In this video, I give a few examples of this feature.
The AC "complements" an Adjective, whereas the PA "complements" the Subject of the sentence.
An Adjective Complement can be realized in THREE forms:
(1) Noun Clause: "I'm overjoyed THAT SHE LOVES ME."
(2) Prepositional Phrase: "She's very interested IN PSYCHOLOGY."
(3) Infinitive: "I'm relieved TO KNOW THAT SHE'S SAFE AT HOME." Видеоклипы
Thanks for helping us giving precise information. I would like to have more videos from your side to be clear about the logic behind other such confusing concepts.
That's helpful!!!! Can you make more videos explaining some grammar concepts, even if they are paid?
Also known as 'anticipatory it'
How about, " That he cheats is a disturbing problem"?
That's fine. In your sentence, the Noun Clause "that he cheats" would be the Subject; "a disturbing problem" would be the Subject Complement (or Predicate Noun).
