The latest update when the console versions went live has caused a bunch of weird bugs and gameplay issues, that I've come across particularly with JOTL expansion characters. Though checking on Steam, it looks like the developer is actively working on fixing these issues.
I feel this could really use a demo. 1 hours worth of content (or a mission or two, idk what I'm talking about with Gloomhaven) but nothing crazy, just enough to try. I don't even doubt the game itself, just the switch port haha..aiyah..
I really think you should reconsider your review looking at a 4 mercenary campaign. With the extra enemies and extra charcters performance drops off a cliff and each enemy AI will be "thinking" for 1-3 minutes if it has a move + ranged attack action. Glitches like the UI for card selection disappearing and the loading screen after you are forced to restart the round seem get worse exponentially.
Yeah for sure. I'll be using 3 on the stream and see how that goes. The "thinking" issue with ranged and muti-target ai attack was an issue with PC as well, though depending on your PC's power that could be mitigated. I'll look for those other issues you mentioned as well. Could become necessary for an updated vid depending how many issues pop up. On the other hand, this is still a lot faster than playing the board game lol
@@89Games Yeah I had a group that played through Jaws of the Lion physcially during college we thought it would be so cool to hop on discord and play the orginal campaign together. Only to be met with the Hatchet online glitch that desyncs the host from everyone else when he uses "The Favorite". After that crashed and burnt my solo playthrough experience has been subpare. Leaving me pretty upset at Twin Sails and the sorry I'll fix it later trend of gaming releases. Still love the gloomhaven system though and hope it gets repaired.
@@Ox_Corb funny you should mention the favorite. My wife and I had a similar thing happen. I thought it was a one off glitch though cause she took her switch outside and the wifi signal was weak. I'm going to look into that one more. Appreciate the heads up cause it can be hard to see every issue on my own.
Thanks very much for this video. My biggest concern, that you didn't cover in your video, is the text size and performance in handheld mode. Do you have any info you can provide on that? Cheers.
Yeah! I actually meant to include those and totally forgot until I was done recording 😑. Text size is okay. It is small in handheld mode but still very readable for me at least. Performance wise it might actually be better in handheld mode. My wife and I played some last night, and while I wasn't really looking for issues, I also didn't notice any.
Performance is indeed terrible on pc as well, and no way to limit the pointless background animations etc. They really should have had better graphics option for performance.
I haven't had too many issues on the pc version, but I think that really depends on your pc setup. I agree there could be some more optimization or graphics options, though to make the game more playable on a wider range of PCs. I think the Switch performance has been improved with patches, as it seems to be runner smoother now than it was.

I agree. I think more games should offer demos.
I will love to get demo. To really understand I like it or not.

Ask a question get an answer thank you ,looks like I'll end buying this one.
If you get a chance to play cross play on switch can you comment how it runs? I want to talk my friends into this game. We all have different consoles
Sure thing!
@@89Games Most appreciated.
Does it need online connection to play in single player?
@@alfonsedente9679 no I don't think so.
@@alfonsedente9679 no. I disconnected and it still loads up just fine.
i tried this game and the pseudo card move/attack mechanic turned me off , it is like playing stupid board game
It is based as closely as possible to the board game version. It's not everyone's cup of tea for sure.
