The editing and cinematography along with the rare insights of routesetters made this some of the best climbing content I've ever seen imo. I really hope these videos generate the positive feedback/monetary return they deserve to keep them coming.
8:36 I swear, that Janja slowmo walkout with the music sync gave me chills, good job on the editing :D Edit: Great video! But man, Janja really is a route setter's final boss, isn't she?
Awesome video! I wonder how having a female route setter would affect the quality of boulders on the women’s side. Seems to me they would only get better having someone with similar height/reach/flexibility as the competitors to test the boulders
Totally agree! My local climbing gym is lucky enough to have an even mix of amazing male and female route setters and it really makes a difference compared to other gyms I've been to.
The execution of the routesetting this comp set a high standard for the year. Perhaps, too high. The first comp and the best comp so far what a phenomenal final
14:19 this would be my only thought setting for the women's finals honestly... With Janja being such a beast it has to be super difficult making boulders that she wouldnt flash but you still have faith that they are climbable. Of course, not taking anything away from the other female competitors!
Amazing climbing and shaping as well as some of the coolest ideas for boulders ive seen, some of my favorite music and beautiful cinematography! I hope that didnt sound too inflated, this video is right up my alley, thanks a lot for that :D
IFSC should hire the video producers of this video to do this for every or at least many of the World Cup events. Good advertising opportunity for the holds used as well.
Look forward to seeing more of these! I would enjoy hearing the route setters reactions to what the climbers did - especially if the climbers found unexpected solutions, or reacted to problems in unexpected ways. This is a really cool concept for videos!
I am in love with how the music was used for the climbing montages and also some brilliant insight from the routesetters! I hope you continue this amazing tradition for the next comp you set!
This is mind blowing. Such a great film, wow. Amazing dynamic, very good music with slow mo footage (beautiful footage), transitions with other parts calm and progressive. Outstanding job !
wow, best recommendation from youtube in a long while. Such a well done video, great balance between the making of the problem and some clips with the struggle of the climbers.
Wow, very insightfull and extremely well made! Inspired me to add some Flathold Lucha Libre to my home wall to be honest :) I would love to see this series more often..
Incredible video, a little bit disappointed to see only men doing routesettign, would be cool to increase the diversity inside the team as I'm sure a lot of women would bring up something new and innovative
Very interesting:) I wonder who makes the team? And how conscious they are of working only between "men" and calling professional climbers "girls" (at 14'11, and not "women" as the written translation corrected)... Make the future!! Hire women!
When you have 4/5 minutes to send a boulder you can't just give them standard hard pulling on small holds, etc. because there simply isnt enough time to rest and it's much more likely that everyone breezes through it or everyone gets shut down by a move being too hard in a simple way. These dynamic but still technical/complex movements allow for more variance in results, and inevitably create more excitement in the audience which is what inevitably funds comp climbing as a sport
@@Fred-oz3tw A combination of strength, flexibility and problem solving skills is part of comp climbing today. Better than the person that can press the smallest holds :)
These videos are some of my favorite climbing content, I wouldn't be mad if you put them out more often. :)
Absolutely, this serie is awesome
Absolutely, agree!!!

This content quality is amazing! I loved the section at 8:39 where Janja is contrasted with the other climbers!
I like the highly-appropriate music when she comes on - like the terminator haha.
@@TristanCleveland The Dark Soul boss music would have been perfect ^^
setters are for me the one factor for competition climbing to evolve. the rest of us are to adapt, and it's up to us.. so, THANK YOU GUYS!

Edit: Great video! But man, Janja really is a route setter's final boss, isn't she?
Yea she is, you see the first couple girls fail, and then Janja came out like a boss on beat! :D

Well the Japanese dude is somewhat shorter so the size would be fixed, but i do agree on some other factors
@@djzipster147 Haha, i have no gym nearby, so i climb 1000 year old forts, those guys sure knew how to make routes ;)
The execution of the routesetting this comp set a high standard for the year. Perhaps, too high. The first comp and the best comp so far what a phenomenal final
This edit of Janja's top on W1 was so hype

edit: This video is excellent. Thank you.

The routesetters are the storytellers. So satisfying!!!
We are all amazed at the ability of the athletes .. but that’s not showcased without the setters bringing it out. Well done.
Where is the 2022 video? Can’t get enough. The prod is so good
The whole edit from 8:13 to 9:32 deserves an award
This was absolutely supreme to watch! So inspiring and insightful. :) I would lave to see more of this!
I am in love with how the music was used for the climbing montages and also some brilliant insight from the routesetters! I hope you continue this amazing tradition for the next comp you set!
This video is honestly the best climbing video I have watched so far on youtube, great work! Keep it up!
What an amazing portrait of this pure art form! Loved the cinematography, the commentary, the vibe, everything. Thanks for this beautiful insight!
Holy shit, this video is soo good. Actually amazing to watch, more videos like this would be incredible!!
World class climbing content, subscribed in the first minute. As usual, Janja is also crushing in this video. Even if it wasn´t about her.
Awesome! I love looking at the thought process that goes on behind the scenes. Give us more!

I really enjoyed this video. Well editted and glad to see the story behind the routes. More of this!
This is so awesome to see, seeing the Beta while they set up the route, then see the athletes copy them :D
wow, best recommendation from youtube in a long while. Such a well done video, great balance between the making of the problem and some clips with the struggle of the climbers.
These videos are absolutely beautiful and full of such interesting content, very enjoyable and so well done, thank you.

This is the art aside the competition. Thank you for this awesome content!
Ogata sticking that move in the intro blew my mind
MORE OF THESE PLEASE.
Absolutely stunning video yet again.
I love the format! Cool edit
that was awesome!
Best climbing content, keep them coming!
I love the dynos but why do they never set one more classical boulder problem? It's okay, the crowd wont leave.
I LOVE BOULDERING !!!!
Awesome. Would definitely love more videos like this.
I would love to have some insight into the crack problem. Too Bad you did not cover it. Wide Boyz will love you ;)
best part of the climbing
I would love to see more videos like this
14:20 Janja's so insanely strong she's in her own league
so good i love these videos
8:36 Janja final boss music, epic.
So freaking good!
Amazingly produced video, keep it up
Greaaaaat production there 🔥🔥
Are there women route setters as well usually?
more of these please :D
super nice video!
Trop cool, merci :)
inspiring!
サムネイルかっこよすぎ
💯 Impressive
Why is there not a single woman routesetting?
Vegeta is that you ?
Imagine Janja becoming route setter one day?)
Nice video nice comp, altought imo the music does not need to be that dramatic when they climb lol.
WOW
Incredible video, a little bit disappointed to see only men doing routesettign, would be cool to increase the diversity inside the team as I'm sure a lot of women would bring up something new and innovative
the INSIDE BASEBALL

*boss music plays*

More cracks! It's still baffling to me how some comp climbers can't hand, fist or foot jam! Only in Meiringen they have the bal*s to do it! 🤟
we need this under the olympics
I swear to god it's too easy for Ondra at the first problem, he's too big and strong for this type of sh#t; 5:15
Design
that's what I call shit setting. idk what it is but it's not climbing
3 dyno's in 1 boulder...this isnt real climbing anymore
Climbing is getting to the top

@@TheToxicdieter true. The best climber is chosen by the biggest repertoire of moves. So why not add some more moves to the competition?

Your sarcastic approach doesnt make the claim less valid.
