Everyone keeps asking about fripp and bruford, guys bruford retired and fripp probably won't play crimson ever again, he himself said that playing any crimson piece requires months of preparation and is an Olympic challenge and he's just too old for doing tours. The fact that we got beat at all is a great deal since king crimson was already going silent, remember that this might be one of the last times we listen to live crimson
I'm just glad Fripp is still playing at least. He's gigging with his wife, and he's having fun. Apparently Bruford has dusted off his drums and is back in action to some degree as well doing some local jazz gigs.
I'd love to see Fripp try his hand at composing and find some unknowns who want to master the material Sort of like the Philip Glass Ensemble or Steve Reich' ensemble, people who will dedicate themselves to a unique composition language He should get that guy el Estepario to play drums. He's super limb independent so each limb could phrase with a guitarist. Four guitars, a singing bassist, Fripp doing soundbeds under it all, and el Estepario crushing everything with sticks and beaters. Sounds nice to me
Belew mentioned during his interview with Rick Beato that he approached Fripp about the Beat tour. He wasn't interested for a number of reasons but gave his blessings
I watched the beato interview yeah the other guys said heck no fripp hasn’t played live in a decade Vai and Carrey have both said how influential king crimson have been to them and were honored to get the call, pretty cool they’re doing it with their blessing.
I think he's doing a great job of honoring Robert's parts - let's be honest, a _way_ different guitarist and performer - while still putting his own spin on it. I can't wait to see these guys live in November!
Thanks for taking this and sharing it. I was at this show a couple of nights ago. And it was great and great to see and hear again in this high quality.
Super fun! Looking forward to following the progress of this tour. I hope there will be a Premier Guitar Rigg Review at some stage. The range of gear here is so interesting.
True. Saw him in concert many years ago, and noticed that his solos never goes the way we expect. It’s not that kind of shredding we often hear, where the licks are practiced at home for hours. And sounds just like practicing scales. Vai’s playing is unpredictable.
Why does have to be an evil pact? Satan doesn't create, only destroys. If anything, he just takes good care of himself and plays shows and records albums non-stop.

3:46 - This sh!t is BEAUTIFUL. You know the best part? Danny Carey can't help but to BE Danny Carey. Bill Bruford went his merry way a long time ago (much respect, Sir!). I saw the THRAK tour twice in 1996. Once in Michigan, and then I moved to California and saw them again at the Greek in Berkeley. Amazing. The problem was that I didn't know anything about the Bay Area (I was in Chico), so I went there in shorts and flip flops. When the sun went down and the lights came up, the temperature had dropped 30 degrees and I thought I was going to freeze to death. We worked it out. I'm living in Wyoming now, and I'm killing myself because I won't be able to see this live. Thank God for RUclips. I had the same problem with Black Sabbath's last tour.
Qué futuro tan maravilloso estamos viviendo los fans. En el que Steve Vai toca con integrantes legendarios de King Crimson y Joe Satriani toca con integrantes legendarios de Van Halen🤯🤯🤯🤯
At first this performance brought a tear to my eye but by the end i was laughing. Such a crimson thing to do to mess with things and live in the moment!

Danny has more of a rock snare sound to Bruford’s jazzy timbre. But who cares? Danny is a wicked drummer and a great person. The sound here is muddy in the mid-range. But that’s just overload in the microphone
@@marlinhall8298 I know, but sometimes sounds really bad, too "midi" for these kind of music and tends to compress sound.. ok for rock tracks, terrible for track like Matte Kudasai..

It's like some dude screaming in your ear at that show as you're trying to take it all in, deeply listening to what's going on before your eyes.
Love the song, glad you shared it, BUT... Leave the camera on the person with the solo. This sure isn't my favorite version, but hey, it's been 40 years and things (and personnel) change. I guess I'd be even MORE surprised if this version were identical to the original.
Bill Bruford is retired and Robert Fripp has other ventures. And if you've seen the documentary, you couldn't probably tell that Belew and Fripp would hesitate to work with eachother again.
I think Fripp found the last Crimson USA tour fairly bruising , especially with Covid, insurance etc and he has spoken in the past of handing the baton to someone else. Many years ago he suggested Steve Hackett as a replacement because he'd been to the first KC gigs in London.
Tony Levin rules! Just wish I reach my 78 birthday in that shape. There’s hope. Thanks for sharing.
I'm 41 and wish I could be in that shape now.
When Tony Levin grabs the Chapman Stick you know shit is about to get real
Tony Levin is a treasure
It's cool to have a little "Vai spin" thrown into the mix.
To me it makes this more enjoyable to listen to.

Pretty good. Best of the posted videos of the tour so far for me.
Agreed -- the cover was based on what the original did, but the players all did interesting new things, too.
Recorded underwater?

I love this band! Steve Vai has never sounded better. This stuff is so much fun. A real joy.
Well, this is the best band in the world at the moment...
Love it Steve, Adrian, Tony and Danny. There is *so much* talent on that stage!

well now we know how Les Claypool came up with "Jerry was a Race Car Driver"
Can't decide if I am watching Belew, Knopfler or Portillo.....
This song gave Primus the roadmap…
This has a Primus vibe to it.
Well, Elephant Talk came out in 1981 and Primus started up in 1984, so the vibe is the other way around...

For sure. I am fairly certain this song inspired Jerry Was a Race Car Driver. Also, Les covers Thela Hun Ginjeet a lot with his side projects
Its Robert Fripp.

He's definitely a tripp.

Robert didn’t want to do it but gave Adrian his blessing to forge ahead.

Greg's correct. Fripp was completely on board with Adrian running with this project; he even suggested the name BEAT.
