These videos never fail to amaze. That swell you are sailing in is MASSIVE. I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to sail down there having only ever sailed on the North Sea and Baltic. STUNNING!
The Southern ocean has always fascinated me and yet it seems so dangerous too...guess that's why I watch the vendee Globe. I can "surf" the Southern Ocean and see for myself the miraculous Ocean and waves. Thank you Boris

I watched it three times then took it to let my wife watch. She liked it. So peacefully dynamic the Southern Ocean, the boat set to surf the long period waves, converging waves from the south building a super set every third or fourth or so. Less confused waves than yesterday. Boris just charging along... I can only guess the boat speed.... fast enough. Boat riding nicely. Easy on the rigging. GO!
This video is by far my favorite from the Vendee and will be one I come back to over and over again to fix my mind after a hectic day ashore. Thank you from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

Mein Gott! This almost made me seasick. This is our substitute for Freimarkt rides this year! ... I just watched this several more times, with each view there are more details of sea and sky and birds to take in. Totally amazing.
Watching and listening to the ocean passing is so hypnotic. The quality of your footage is so good I found myself clinging to my seat as Sea Explorer heeled over. Aaarrgghh! Respect Boris! 👍

Diese Bilder machen mich demütig. Unglaublich, diese langen Wellen. Sieht ein wenig aus wie mit meinem Laser über die Ostsee gleiten, nur im Maßstab 1:18. Die Ostsee eine Pfütze, der Laser ein Spielzeug und Boris Herrnann rockt den Southern Ocean.
Fantastisch - wenn es so ist, wäre ich auch gern mal dabei. Die 50kn gusts im Sturm allerdings, müsste ich nicht haben :-) (Du vermutlich auch nicht). Schön, dass Du uns mit Deinen Videos einen Teil unseres wunderbaren Planeten zeigst, den wir so nur schwerlich selber erleben könnten.

It would be super interesting to learn more about what options you have on your autopilote. Like: Can you set it to steer for optimal speed or also just regular angle to wind etc. Mayer also a technical view on the setup/mechanical side
By this point I wonder if you still remember how it feels like to sail on calmer seas x) But do you ever get used to this roughness either? Thank you for the beautiful images =)
Normally we produce enough energy with hydro generators and solar to have all systems running. Unfortunately now we need to wait for less wind to repair the generators, that were both damaged nearly simoultaneously - very bad luck.

He is wearing his noise cancelling headphones a lot, to listen to some music, podcast or to communicate.
I wonder where all the energy comes from e.g. for the auto pilot. Is there a limit of how much electricity there can be used per day?
