  • Are these the most comfortable recumbent trikes on the market? We take an in-depth look to find out. ICE is known for their high-quality trikes and great customer service. In this video, I look at the ICE adventure with the ergoluxe seat.

    I love my Ice Adventure HD 26 RS with the EgroLux seat. I buy/sell gently used recumbent trikes and have owned 55 trikes over the past 3 years. I’m 62 years old, 6’ and 220 pounds. It is the most comfortable trike I’ve owned. I have not owned a HP Scorpion.

      @@aponoypi I’m 63, 220 with lots of arthritis. The HD is a wider deeper seat. Egro Lux seat is the most comfortable. You may or may not need/want the HD. The Dumont has a bit less suspension travel. The HP Scorpion has more suspension travel and is another option with a nice seat. Dumont-$, Ice-$$, HP-$$$. Can’t go wrong with either. I found an Ice HD gently used and had a Falco hub motor added. $6k instead of 10-12k. Good luck!

    I've been riding an Adventure HD with "Full Suspension" for a couple of years now.
    Quotes because the travel is very limited. The suspension takes the edge off of sidewalk cracks, but over tree roots or even grass with hidden bumps you had better be sitting bolt upright or you will be risking spinal cord injury.
    I am currently shopping for something with a "Real" suspension. SteinTrike Wild One and Azub TiFly are on my short list.

Can't justify $850 for a cushion.. LOL. I would have spent the $270 on a new mesh.. SAD AZUB made my trike seat obsolete.. kinda like computers and peripherals..?

    Does the seat lean back? I have a spinal fusion occiput to C3 so comfort is super important especially in the neck & back. Leaning & lying more flat than upright is generally more comfortable for me.

    • @BentRevolution
      @BentRevolution  3 года назад +1

      The seat position is fairly flexible but if you are looking to really lay back, you might be better off with a Sprint or VTX.

    Hey Tim
    Another question. Can you have these trikes serviced at regular bike shops if you don’t live near a trike dealer?

    • @BentRevolution
      @BentRevolution  3 года назад +2

      Some "regular" shops will be able to service trikes, but the issue often comes down to if they have a repair stand that will hold a trike for service. Most of the parts are the same, but having the right repair stand is usually the issue.

    • @BentRevolution
      @BentRevolution  4 года назад +5

      Yes, the indirect steering makes it easy to steer. ICE can build a trike with all the controls on one side if that is easier for you.

    Hi all. Im a runner former road guy looking into the trike. Can I get thoughts on disk vs drum? Thanks for your time.

    • @BentRevolution
      @BentRevolution  4 года назад +4

      Both stop the trike but drums tend to stay cleaner and last longer. Disks are stronger and not subject to heat fade on long downhill runs.

    • @petecresswell932
      @petecresswell932 2 месяца назад

      Drums are supposedly more trouble-free but my experience has been:
      * When things get weird (as in one of my drums locking up) the moving parts are out of view - making troubleshooting difficult.
      * When you pull a wheel with Sturmey drum brakes, there is a little collet that, if you are not expecting it, can drop into the grass and be lost - semi-stranding you.
      * Although it is rare to get water into drums, when it happens, they make a *lot* of noise for quite a long while.
      * Replacing brake shoes looks to me like a non-trivial task.
      * Replacement drums appear to be Sturmey-Archer proprietary.
      I converted to cable-actuated discs and find that:
      * The modulation is far, far, far superior.
      * When things go south, all the moving parts are in plain view.
      * Replacing pads is a trivial task
      * Replacement pads are non-proprietary and widely-available.
      * If you dump enough water on discs, they will lose braking power for a few seconds, but in real-world use they are immune to water-related problems.
