I’m excited to hear how Jim Finley connects mysticism and nonviolence. He was taught and trained by Thomas Merton himself in the 1960s and has been writing about and teaching mysticism for over fifty years.
I hope our session will inspire you to deepen in contemplative prayer, meditation and your own inner journey of mysticism, as well as your journey of nonviolence and Gospel peacemaking.

Thank you both so much, Jim Finley and John Dear. For me this video was like a gardener, clearing away the underbrush and weeds that had obscured a beautiful well.

I was all relaxed & ready for a healing message from Dr. Finley, and the whole thing was interrupted by an ad to fight toe fungus!

His words are a lifeline. When Dr. Finley got to the part about being seen and known by Jesus, and how our true face is reflected in his eyes, I began to cry. Even writing it makes me cry again. Not because it's making me sad, but because it has a crystal clear ring of truth to it, and I cannot express how much I needed to hear that.

This talk by James Finley is the closest I have ever heard about trauma becoming internal and u are a tramautized person and you are so grateful and a minute does not go by that you are alive . Love crucified, beloved, free, nobody dies.
    Being mentored almost secretly

I have listened to this presentation by James at least a dozen times since it was posted. It is brimming over 🙏 I heard him say, in an interview with Tammy Simon, that the source of all violence in the world is self attack and/or self abandonment.
Thank you John for producing and posting this. Peace.
