Your lack of military is only possible because you rely on other countries to carry out the responsibility to secure and defend Iceland. Norway’s air force patrol and secure your air space, NATO forces would be responsible for defence in a potential conflict. Surprised to hear you don’t know this.

Part of the reason that education is so expensive is because of all of the resources that are available to college students outside of just the classroom education. The academic and athletic clubs. I second your point about the nature. Winter in Iceland is like another planet compared to my homeland of Australia. In particular, because of THE WATERFALLS. I can't emphasize enough how stunning they are. Some are tall, some are wide, some are short, some have funky basalt columns, some have carved deep canyons.....the variety is staggering. I returned a second year to see mighty Dettifoss in the north...I haven't yet heard of another country that has so many falls in such a small area.

    I appreciate your videos on Iceland. Just to clarify, it doesn't cost "millions" of dollars to attend college/university in the US. The educational costs vary, however, according to the College Board, published tuition fees for 2018/19 at state colleges are an average of US$10,230 for state residents, and $26,290 for everyone else. This compares to an average of $35,830 at private non-profit colleges. The cheapest options of all, however, are public-sector two-year colleges - also known as community, technical or city colleges - where average fees for 2018/19 are just $3,660.
    Admittedly, one can’t complete a full degree at a two-year college, but one can gain an associate’s degree. This counts as the first half of a bachelor’s degree, which can then be completed by transferring to a university for an additional two or three years.
    While college/university fee's are extremely low in Iceland, I suspect Iceland's taxes are higher to cover these costs. In the US, students can obtain grants and scholarships to help off set educational costs. Best Regards!

    The first point about water i totally believe in. I am not from Iceland, but from northern Norway, and i have the same thing. Whenever im travelling i miss it a lot, and when i come back the first thing i do is to turn on the tap, wait for it to be ice cold, and drink it for weeks more or less non-stop because it is awesome. I heard that Coca Cola ranked their soda taste world wide based on water quality; i believe Iceland ranked 1st, and breweries in northern Norway 2nd or 3rd according to them. Other studies rank Finland #1 based on other criteria. Anyway, valid thing to love.

    in all fairness, when we talk about Icelands water you should mention the smell (at least the tap water in the Reykjavik area). or do you not smell it anymore? for people who never been to Iceland: The fresh water mostly comes from geothermal springs and depending on the specific geothermal properties of the region (i belive its mostly the temperature of the spring), the water has a "sulfuric" odor...a bit like rotten eggs. there are regions, like the Reykjanes Peninsula where the water comes from very hot thermal springs (i believe) and has no odor at all, but in Reykjavik the smell is very prominent whenever you get water from the tap. It's the one thing that i didn't like when i visited there...other than that it's a spectacular beautiful country with lovely people. very fond memories :-)

    • @TakaG

    I secretly want to live in Iceland!
    @Hrafna
    I heard from a professor name Corinne G. Dempsey at Nazareth College who has been to Iceland talk about spirits and spirit work in Northern Iceland, and "little people." Corinne G. Dempsey wrote the book, "Bridges between Worlds." I love that Iceland is a lot more open and accepting in terms of spirituality than most of the world. Even in the U.S., a lot of spiritual people who are mediums are persecuted, which is why psychics such as I often do not share openly our psychic experiences with people, which is something that people can talk about more freely in Iceland without being persecuted. Rochester, New York is also well-known for being highly spiritual and accepting, and in Rochester, some of the first mediumship circles in the U.S. arose and were founded by the Fox Sisters, Kate, Leah, and Margaret. Rochester is also one of the leading places in the U.S. with a Zen meditation center called the Rochester Zen Center, which I am a member of. I am fortunate enough to have been able to visit a psychic and develop psychic abilities at The Purple Door here in Rochester, and I am certain you can find psychic places like The Purple Door in Iceland as well, and it's something not to be taken for granted, as it is something that is extremely rare to experience in different parts of the world as being societally acceptable. Another thing that I find wonderful about Iceland is its sustainability practices. I heard from Corinne that geothermal energy is incredibly important in Iceland, and nowhere in the U.S. have I seen people using any renewable energy whatsoever. It's extremely rare to see people use renewable energy or geothermal energy in the U.S. Also, the way Iceland uses sand to cover the roads is a lot better for the environment than using chemical-laden salt, which is destroying the waterways and the ecosystems in the U.S. Also, Iceland is a lot more tolerant of LGBTQ populations, and in the U.S., 30 men in a gay club were shot and killed in Florida only a few years ago, and as a pansexual man I feel scared and am unsafe when I go out at night.
    Overall, I would add these five points: Iceland is a lot more spiritually accepting in terms of connecting with spirits and spirit work than almost every other part of the world, Iceland is a lot more sustainable in terms of geothermal energy and renewable energy, Iceland has much better recycling than the U.S., Iceland has better ways of dealing with snow and use sand rather than salt, and Iceland is a lot more tolerant and peaceful towards LGBTQ+ populations than the rest of the world, especially way more tolerant and peaceful than places like the U.S., Iran, and India.
