I'm sure you're not still looking, but I highly recommend a stud conversion. I have studs on my MK7 and I'm running Porsche lugs. No rounding and love having lugs to toss my tires on easily, especially since I rotate every 5k miles and I swap summers/winter's twice a year. With that being said, just ordered a set of 245/35/19 PS4S to slap on my Pretorias for my MK7. Pretty stoked for spring time to see how they run. They'll be replacing the factory Continental 235/35/19s.
I put a set of these on my Nissan 370Z sport coupe as replacements for the OEM Bridgestone Potenza S007. In comparison, the PS4S is quieter and smoother riding with less rolling resistance than the Bridgestones. The Bridgestones have a firmer and more planted ride with quicker turn-in. When doing slalom-like lane changes on the Potenzas it is like being on rails, whereas the Michelins feel more vague and kind of underdamped in their response to steering and road bump transients.
Really interested to see what wheel bolts you can find. i need a new set as well DONT buy ECS brand wheel locks. The Key rounded out after the second time i removed the wheels.
Just purchased the same Ps4s tyres for my stage 2+ Mk7 Golf R as well. What pressures do you recommend? Forums mainly suggest 38 psi but I find that a little firm. Granted its summer so naturally will run higher. I was thinking maybe 36psi in summer and maybe revert back to 38psi in Winter?
James do the fender screw mod, I'm running these tyres with spacers and had a bit of rubbing, After i did the fender screw mod i don't get any rubbing now.
Great video @jamesr50! Since you have the stage 2 setup on your Golf R, did you have to replace to clutch with a stronger one? I have been reading on forums that the stock clutch on US-spec Golf R's are weak. I'm not sure if that is applicable to Euro-spec Golf R's.
Do you by chance know how these compare to the Potenza RE71r? I currently have them and love the grip they provided over my previous set of Michelin PSS. But, the tread wear on the Potenza RE71r is ridiculous!! I need better tread wear but more grip than the PSS. Do you think these PS4S will provide that from your experience? I am stage 2 and have issues with any other tires getting grip on hot days.
thanks for the replies, i was asking because i went to a Michelin distributor a while ago and he told me the PS4S are not available in 18 only the PS4 is
I'm bought some 18s for my Kia optima sxl and the car comes with stock 18s . I'm planning on doing a stretch. The rims I got are 10.5 wide and My tires are 225×45r18. I believe that is considered a stage 2 stretch?
Just purchased a set for my R. Can’t wait to get them installed

I got them on my car. I can trust this tires to go crazy fast on a curve and not spin out. Real responsive on turning too. Grip like hell.
That black R following you is bloody gorgeous aye😉😂 sick day out 👍🏻 great vid😁
Scott Williams yes and will be even better looking soon😈

Hi James. In this video what camera did you use for the POV driving video and what camera mount thanks 😊

Dean Clarke That’s great thanks I’ll look into it👍🏻
Awesome video! Question though... What is the PSI amount you used when fitting them?

ghost32087 Thankyou! And yes I have a Sachs Sintered Clutch, the stock clutches in the 7R’s are weak over here aswell
Put a set on my 2020 TTRS and they are a lot softer and more quiet than the Pirelli👍
Are your wheels in the this video 8” or 8.5” wide? I want to get some PS4S but heard they don’t stretch well
Are these good for rain/wet damp conditions
yes, very
Isyour car faster with these tires? I mean 100-200 km/h?
May I know the tire pressure you are running on those P4S?
This car use tpms or is already in abs ?
I've got those on mine, totally trust in the grip levels, wet and dry. They are not a quiet tyre thou, think maybe road noise reduces as they wear.
lee williams I agree the level of grip on these tyres are very good possibly the best all round tyre there is and thanks that’s good do know

Do these ride better or worse than the other tyres you've had on James? Thanks
Test Drive Scotland These are by far the best tyres I’ve ever had
Are gorilla wheel bolts available for your car? I've had them installed on my car for years now and they key has never rounded out.
Allen Anthony I don’t think so, I’m still on the look out for a good set of wheel bolts
those tires are not available for 18" rims right? awesome video btw
supa hot fire yes the Pilot Sport 4 should be available depending on you size you have on your 18”
They are available in 18"... for example you can get these for the the gti 225 40R 18 tires. (in the USA)
thanks for the replies, i was asking because i went to a Michelin distributor a while ago and he told me the PS4S are not available in 18 only the PS4 is
supa hot fire at the time maybe but they are now and no problem👍🏻
oooo I missed the S! Let me look again
How did they perform when launching the car?
This is a manual so I didn’t really launch it, people who have been running these with DSG say they are good for launching😄
👍👍

What width wheel are they on?
Will it fit on the 19inch?
I was using 19s 235 35 19👍🏻
