    I have been using these rollers for a while now and have found that they do over read when I compare them to my power2max power meter. They do however respond pretty well to gradient changes and you can "climb" out of the saddle, I however wouldn't recommend attempting any standing sprint efforts. As Ben said though, if you want a natural feeling ride these are great and they are not excessively noisy.

    I have the Inside Ride e-motion rollers with smart controller add-on and they are amazing in use with Zwift. Essentially the same concept as the one you reviewed here. Full on standing sprints feel very natural. Your review was very balanced and I agree with how you summarized at the end what type of rider these are best suited towards. It's a shame more ppl don't give them a try as overall I feel they provide a more engaging riding experience than a fixed trainer.

    I’m waiting for a company to produce one that can read higher wattage. Still looks like an awesome indoor trainer.

    Good I found this and you have proven my thoughts about inaccurate power data... guy on Rouvy is racing these and I figured his power data is way out to lunch!!

    After a year of incredible Zwift riding my Nero roller internal magnets started rubbing the flywheel and chipped the magnets which roared and threw out metal chips. If you get one you may want to shim the magnets so they will last longer. I love the rollers but hate the poor quality

    Ok I get your overview. But question. I have a Brompton 16” wheels . I’m not too worried about accuracy but I do want a smart trainer to connect with Zwift for the Brompton is there enough adaptive capabilities to use a Brompton on these ?

    Can you use this without zwift? and is it worth it to use without zwift? I just want an indoor roller to train indoors but I want the ride and feel of a real bicycle.

    Did you try an out of the saddle effort? Seems like the front to rear movement would help in standing efforts.

      I did, and it does. I was too chicken too try any full-out sprinting out of the saddle, but a normal climbing definitely feels more natural on these versus fixed rollers.

      Bret Moss when you do out of the saddle efforts, the rear does move around a fair bit but you it feels natural.

    Thanks for an informative input. Would you recommend this over a turbo trainer, for a couple each with their own bike?

    • @VeloNewsMagazine
      @VeloNewsMagazine  4 года назад

      Thank you. It depends on your power situation. Meaning, do you guys care about accurate power measurement? If so, I would only recommend it if you have power meters on your bikes. If you don't care, then yes, it's fun to ride, and definitely easier to swap between bikes than a standard trainer.

      VeloNews Neither of us have power meters but I am intent on getting one. My companion wouldn't be bothered about the read outs

    thank you, good review, yet wondering how they respond to a somewhat hard effort out of the saddle, ie do you stay on them? Also would be great to compare these to say the TACX Galaxia rollers. I often ride Zwift with a Powertap G3 hub and either a Kurt Kinetic Rock n Roll trainer or older CycleOps (Saris) aluminum rollers. The KK sways the opposite way when standing and as you know with the rollers you will fly off the front if you put down too much power. Really hoping to find some rollers that float fore/aft enough to absorb the energy of a sprint.

      I'm not sure how you could compare the TACX Galaxia (no resistance) to these. I have the TACX Galaxia. They are pretty good rollers. I wish they were quieter and that I could localise the vibration issues. I switched from Schwalbe Marathons (considerably loud) to S-Works Turbo Gripton which made things a lot quieter, except now the vibration is much more audible.
      I am eager to try out the Elite Nero now, since I actually need more resistance now for training.
      Good example of what they sound like now (rubber band):

      @@emailForDye I added the minoura resistance unit to my TACX Galaxias. Fits perfectly, but still can't do a real sprint on them. Re vibration, might be an assembly issue I'd double check alignment and tighten up drums etc. Mine are super smooth and fairly quiet up to 45 mph wheel speed.....ymmv

    I have these and have been riding them for about a year and like them. Issues: The app is terrible. Riding hills on Swift is a challenge, as the gradient changes can be a bit sudden and slow you down to a panic-inducing wobble; rolling hills might leave you wishing you never bought the thing. When not on Swift a Garmin can control the resistance. The minimum resistance level seems a bit high, so I can't do high cad rev outs on my track bike; maybe this is because I can't workout how to calibrate it. I use them with a power meter. They are about as noisy as an oldish (eg tacx vortex smart) wheel on trainer, and increases with power in the same kind of way. Under 200W and it is fine, 300W and you need to turn the telly up a lot, and everyone will know what you are up to. Using a phone or keyboard while riding is Vdifficult to do. The feel is miles better than my Tacx. An expensive wheel off trainer is going to be a better choice for most (all?) people. Harder to balance than the real world, so I guess your roller ftp should be more realistic than that on a static trainer. I still like them...

    How are these for sprinting? No danger of the rear wheel lifting off if you too wild?

    • @VeloNewsMagazine
      @VeloNewsMagazine  4 года назад

      I didn't have the guts to try full-out sprinting out of the saddle. In Zwift races, I'll just sprint in the saddle - and usually not do so well. :-)

    • @richardrogers229

      I haven't had my rear wheel lift off in my all-out sprints, but if I want to win a big race, maybe that should be my objective :-). The risk is more coming off the rollers during an all-out push. I've come off many times, it's not dangerous at all, it's just a bit frustrating. If you are a racer, and want to work on your sprint, a trainer would be better. Explosive power has to be delivered smoothly when you are riding the Elite Nero rollers, that's my take.

      no (at least I use standard training tires)

    • @emailForDye
      @emailForDye 3 года назад

      And various tyres will cause various noises. Schwalbe Marathons are very loud, for example. I've heard that roller-specific tyres should be better, but I cannot be bothered swapping tyres to ride indoor and then outdoor.
