I've worked in two restaurants back when I was in high school/college. Chefs work insane hours. It's easier to become a pro athlete than a pro chef. Also, shout out the dishwashing crew. When I was a line cook at a small local italian restaurant in connecticut, we had Suyapa. She worked a million jobs and had an unrivaled work ethic. When there weren't any dishes, she'd just FIND something to do. She didn't speak any english and the restaurant owner, who was notoriously racist, payed her very well (I found this out after he sold the store and retired). She worked weekends and when she'd walk in, the whole kitchen staff would yell "SUYAPA!!!" because we know we'd have an easier night, where we could just focus on the food. And don't forget about the physical toll on all restaurant employees. Took me a minute to get used to standing for 8 hours + non stop.

I still vividly remember someone paying for my food at a taco bell drive-thru a decade ago. The impression it made was so impactful that I've been paying it forward occasionally/secretly ever since. I was saying that too...as for me, I would do the same and give Money, but I would strategically give, to make an impression; Have the Waiters get the final Bill, and go tell the people that someone paid your Tab. In a lot of cases, giving too much in this situation, causes the Ego to be put in a Safe Zone, which blocks the Individual from seeing the value of what he's doing. I've been there back in those college days Getting a extra $100 bucks back in the day was the difference from eating 2 minute noodles every day to being able to buy fruit, vegetables, bread, milk, meat etc... or even a case of beer for after the football game. I think it's less about the money, but more about having a complete stranger offer to help you without asking for anything in return. I mean, who knows how many of these people are already super wealth, but every single one is gracious about the gift. Money is a universal language. Everyone understands it and seems to agree with it. I love how one lady exclaimed, "This will pay for my 30 meals". If you do the maths, for those who take one meal a day, it will cover 30 days of food. It shows how grateful she is. While others received someone's one month salary and just casually walked away

If you get cheap ingredients and make your own food you can probably get 1 meal (possibly more depending on if you have leftover ingredients) for less than $10. If you go to a fancy bar or restaurant you would probably spend that $100 in 1-5 meals depending on the restaurant.

During prime Covid my boyfriend and I lived together and were on food stamps. Thank god food stamps were maxed at the time, though we received a notice that we were going back to pre-Covid help. I expected maybe $26 for food(pre Covid help), and I checked while we were driving to Winco. I called and when the food stamps Siri said two hundred and something dollars, I started absolutely balling my eyes out. We went from eating expired pinto beans and donated cans of soup, to being able to buy a full cart for a month. It was amazing and I know how much $100 would change someone’s life. Thank you so much more than words can say!!!

I think some of them were just confused at the time. It’s like that one girl in the Applebees (I think it was Applebees) that walked away silently then came back and said thank you because she had forgot to. I think that might be how it was with some of the people but by the time they collected their thoughts juan was busy talking to other people. Also some people could just be kind of socially awkward and might not be great about expressing their emotions, but deep down they are really grateful.

I think it's less about the money, but more about having a complete stranger offer to help you without asking for anything in return. I mean, who knows how many of these people are already super wealth, but every single one is gracious about the gift. If you do the maths, for those who take one meal a day, it will cover 30 days of food. It shows how grateful she is. While others received someone's one month salary and just casually walked away

During prime Covid my boyfriend and I lived together and were on food stamps. Thank god food stamps were maxed at the time, though we received a notice that we were going back to pre-Covid help. I expected maybe $26 for food(pre Covid help), and I checked while we were driving to Winco. I called and when the food stamps Siri said two hundred and something dollars, I started absolutely balling my eyes out. We went from eating expired pinto beans and donated cans of soup, to being able to buy a full cart for a month. It was amazing and I know how much $100 would change someone’s life. I think some of them were just confused at the time. It’s like that one girl in the Applebees (I think it was Applebees) that walked away silently then came back and said thank you because she had forgot to. I think that might be how it was with some of the people but by the time they collected their thoughts juan was busy talking to other people. Also some people could just be kind of socially awkward and might not be great about expressing their emotions, but deep down they are really grateful.
