Thank you! More importantly, I just now noticed the plastic buffer washer that you use with your ground staples! I did not know these even existed. I just ordered a batch. Now, I am off to prune my watermelon!!!
Zone 6b. Trying again next year. GreenT. Did you start your seeds indoors? Step by step for the inexperienced is so helpful and appreciated. Thank you.
Nice.. I started my spring crop seeds indoors and then to the greenhouse.. After the weather get nice. I do all my seeds Outdoors .. how's the weather is nice you get a fast germination..
I'm in Zone 10b San Diego, CA. I believe I still have a long growing season here. Do you think I can get away with not prunning my Crimson Sweet watermelon plants to get more fruit? Or how many vines and fruits per plant should I limit to? I use Garden Tone and Alaska Fish Fertilizer. What other Organic Liquid Fertilizer do you recomend if don't prune?
That is amazing that you have a long garden time. You definitely do not have to prune.. Those are good fertilizer. I would recommend just stick with them and just keep reapplying fertilizer every 2 to 3 weeks.. Just make sure you water every 1 to 2 Day lightly and the plant will probably produce about 4 to 6 because crimson sweet are very big watermelons.. In my experience, it's a really healthy, delicious watermelon variety... Once you keep up with your fertilizer and water, just let it grow. Give it time you will get Harvest
I cut off the tip of a sugar baby watermelon and it stopped growing, then I cut off side shoots and extra leaves to a crimson sweet and lost it too. Right now I have a crimson sweet barely hanging on but I can tell it’s not going to make it. Any advice would be appreciated. Zone 6A TIA.
I'm very sorry to hear that but it sounds like you cut off way too much... Does your plant have any leaves ? If yes, I would also increase the fertilizer and do not prune off any more leaves.. Also make sure the calcium is increased
If I use the neem oil as a preventative on cucumbers is it impossible to not spray the flowers on the vines also ? Also I had a woodchuck problem , it ate some of the leaves and stalks on the plants leaving me to prune them off to the ground , now I have less than 8 leaves, is that ok or will it slow the zucchini ' '
Sorry to hear that. Try to spray under the leaf and if some goes in a main stem it's fine. But try your best to avoid the flowers... Less than eight leaves is not enough energy for the plant to produce more fruits. But give it time it will grow new leaves. Just make sure you fertilize... I believe woodChuck hates the smell of garlic or if you sprinkle cayenne pepper powder around...
I fertilize on the first and the 15th of every month. It's easier for me to remember it that way.
Nice.. that's a good idea... Thanks for sharing.. have a wonderful weekend 🌱

The screw on your pruner might be loose... try to tighten the screw and then see if it cuts better...
