Here's the deal, if the crowd is THAT into a contestant, you should probably turn. He obviously had a great voice, the crowd was absolutely loving him, it's a no brainer.
Agreed! The crowd is honestly your biggest critic. If the crowd doesn’t like it, that’s a sign that it’s not gonna happen. But if the crowd LOVES it, like they did here, there should be NO hesitation. Just press the button!
Yeah in a show like The Voice, you're not looking for a good singer who can sell records in the pop/rock industry, you're looking for someone who is gonna make the audience root for them. You can be the most talented singer in the world but if watching you isn't fun, then why would I watch the voice? I'd be just listening to music on my own.
Especially considering in the end the audience is the one that keeps and makes them win

Watching this yet again in 2023. The thing to remember is that Prince Ali is NOT an easy song to sing. The diction alone is tricky.

He's VERY Jack Black-ish, and I love that he went with fun and quirky and sang it so well!! I thought the judges were choosing based on the quality of the vocals, not whether they approve of the song... 🤔.
They also decide on the song how they could put him into the battles but with this Choice it's pretty hard to see what kind of Song would match

I don't get it, why did only one turn for him? His energy, his voice made the audience stand. Besides, unexpectedness should be key to a good singer
That's the flaw with this show design. The performers energy is a big part of a successful performance, and ignoring that and focusing on just the voice seems wrong to me.
Well Will I Am is not the genre Chris really does, nor is Tom Jones

That was such a GREAT call on Olly!! He was the only one that saw that all the right elements were there: huge voice, awesome intepretation and tons of fun, what else can you expect?!?!?! This guy deserves to go far in music!!
the fact he is ACTING and DANCING is quite the feat, and some singers just stand there
He was dancing while doing this, it would be so hard to do while dancing and bobbing up and down, that was incredibly impressive
Never expected that song. Unfortunately he didn't get through the battle. But what a battle it was

And that is a good guy. Many people want to go out and do what they want to do. But he stepped outside his usual comfort zone and chose instead to entertain the people watching. A true showman
DUDE! Being a GINORMOUS fan of Disney, I would have turned around so frickin' quickly! And the fact this guy Chris can sing different genres of music is awesome, he's got talent and seems like a genuinely cool fella. I love the energy and passion he's got and I would totally be his friend in real life!

He should play the genie on broadway!!! Iv seen Aladdin on broadway twice now and as much as people clap for the current genie he’s no robin williams! Anyhow this audition tape was certainly better than the current genie is able to do on broadway now. You should definitely apply !
He has a voice and personality all i need, probably one of my most rewatched voice performances. I was a music composition major and feeling the music and crowd is performance as much as perfect technical choices

And what blows my mind is that he did even better in his battle but Olly didn't even pick him.... personally, i think it was an unfair decision bc a singer/performer like him is hard to find & so great to watch and i feel like they underestimated him. Not happy with him leaving the voice after only two performances

I would hear this version over and over again, i don’t have a favorite song in Aladdin because I love them all to bits and pieces, even the deleted ones (Proud of Your Boy, for instance). Rock n Roll isn’t the only energetic source genre because George M. Cohen and Florence Ziegfeld invented it. Alan Menken and Howard Ashman really know how to bring an energetic song and Chris it home with a wrecking ball against a brick. I hope my comment makes sense on my last one about… what I just said.

It hasn't. It is part of a compilation of six Globe Voice performances.
This showed so much skills that this singer Musician has. Now I put in a complaint about the so called modern version of Meat Loaf rock musical. Because it did not work the voices did not match the music including the lead singer. So I said they should had used Chris James. Plus they needed to stop making it like a futuristic space adventure as it does not work. I was right. They could had made it up to date without the trying so hard to make it work. Meat Loaf did two Albums that I would class as rock opera or rock stage shows they were that good Bat out Hell and then Back in to hell. Meat Loaf live was amazing and if doing a type of musical you need a caricature just like him to sing those songs and be those parts.
