    I was born in Louisiana and we ate blackeye peas for good luck. Years later I married into a “yankee” family and they had cabbage so I tried to do both. Happy New Year!

      @BeckyJean didn't know you were born in LA. Charley's dad was from southern Virginia, almost in NC, and Charley said his dad liked black-eyed peas, but Charley said he never cared for them.

      @@BeckyJean they say West Virginia is the most northern of the southern states. I say we're just right in the middle of Appalachia.
