Nightwish got to where they are now because of Tarja's INSTANTLY RECOGNISABLE VOICE / STYLE OF SINGING. The songs were written with her in mind ... A somewhat similar band - Within Temptation - didnt get nearly as popular, because their lead singer is good but "blends in with the music too much". They made a song together with Tarja and you can hear the difference.

This performance was at the 2005 concert in Helsinki (End of an Era DVD). It was the last Nightwish show for Tarja. After the concert , the guys gave her an open letter dismissing her from the band after 9 years and 5 albums. She has gone on to a long and successful solo career. To pronounce her name, the 'J' is said like an English 'Y', and roll the 'R'. Her wardrobe , mic and mic stand are usually color coordinated. There were also yellow and white ensembles at this show. She is the most operatic of the 3 lead singers, with a lot of training.. Her vocal abilities are why Tuomas switched from the original plan of acoustic mood music, to symphonic metal. Personally ,I like her Finnish accent coming through, others don't like it at all. Tuomas has keyboards angled like that for ergonomic reasons. Nemo is Latin for no name or nobody More Tarja, from this same show: The Siren, Wishmaster, Sleeping Sun, Planet Hell, Over the Hills and Far Away, Ghost Love Score, or their cover of Phantom of the Opera. That’s really interesting. I don’t like Floor inserting those notes in there. It’s awesome in GLS, but with this one, the epic nature of this ending is just better served without the vocals. But of course, my preference for the heavier symphonic I suppose. 😊
Tarja is the queen of female rock vocalists. She still has that same sort of vibe as a solo artist, though she has more a mix of pop, rock, and operatic metal/rock, though the operatic and theatrical style is still her basic style. And no one does it better. She always looks and carries herself in a very classy way, which is something that is more and more rare in today's world. Concerning her accent, she is fluent in five languages, and Finnish is her native language. Maybe her second main language, her day to day language, is Spanish, then probably English. Breaking news this summer Marko who left Nightwish in 2021 wil be joining Tarja as a special guest star. The 2nd time in her own show and 3rd overall. They 1st reunited at a national christmas show televized all over their native Finland! Lots of tears and hugging back stage and some holding on stage doing a rendition of Ave Maria from an album of them she wrote. So great to see them. Marko joined the band in 2001. Tarja Turunen -Cabuli ( Taa-rr-ee-aa Two - rU-nen) This was the start of their epic shows. You get video, fireworks in this show. It was filmed for the DVD Once Upon a Tour. Their 5th album. With a huge budget they hired London Symphony orchestra, and London's Metro Choir Vocals. There are 18 tracks. 16 of which she sings on. The show was the end of the tour. October, 21, 2005 in Helsinki Finland. 6 costume changes for Tarja (28 then). Now when you want to the full concert in HD is on YT. You can find more stuff at Tarja Turunem HD channel. What a lady. Loved by everyone who knows her. Including Floor who came in to take over for singer #2 Anette Olzen who had to leave mid tour as she was having her baby girl. Tarja was the essence of Nightwish and Tuomas's muse, and the wrath of the fans was poured on him after the way he kicked her out of the band. He said she was one of the most charismatic people he had ever met. There's a lot of meaning hidden in the lyrics of his songs on his first six albums, even on the Dark Passion play, which was only recorded with Anette, who became the messenger of Tuomas' words to Tarja. Fortunately, both Nightwish and Tarja are doing well. It's just a shame the two aren't on speaking terms all the time.

I always love seeing the videos where Jukka is drumming; Kai is technically a monster, but Jukka brings showmanship and enthusiasm Kai lacks, a comparison between a surgeon and a mad Viking. According to Tuomas, Nemo is Italian for nobody, and reflects the feelings he occasionally has, a feeling of namelessness and not knowing who he is, only knowing my past where I long to be. For me, the Tarja era songs are more ethereal, the Anette era are poppy, and the early Floor more metal. I will abstain from my opinion on their newer music to avoid the haters. BTW, this has NOTHING to do with the Disney movie, LOL. Keep rocking.
Comparing Tarja to Floor is never a good idea. Each of them is a completely different person. Plus, they're still friends. You are right about the mysterious aura around Tarja, she always had it around her. She was called Angel, Beauty and Siren in NW, as well as songs. Yes, all those songs are originally her songs. In my personal opinion, Floor is a great singer but, Tarja songs sounds better with Tarja.

No wonder Tuomas got depressed when Tarja left. Tarja was the essence of Nightwish and Tuomas's muse, and the wrath of the fans was poured on him after the way he kicked her out of the band. He said she was one of the most charismatic people he had ever met. There's a lot of meaning hidden in the lyrics of his songs on his first six albums,
even on the Dark Passion play, which was only recorded with Anette, who became the messenger of Tuomas' words to Tarja.
Fortunately, both Nightwish and Tarja are doing well. It's just a shame the two aren't on speaking terms all the time.

I always love seeing the videos where Jukka is drumming; Kai is technically a monster, but Jukka brings showmanship and enthusiasm Kai lacks, a comparison between a surgeon and a mad Viking. According to Tuomas, Nemo is Italian for nobody, and reflects the feelings he occasionally has, a feeling of namelessness and not knowing who he is, only knowing my past where I long to be. For me, the Tarja era songs are more ethereal, the Anette era are poppy, and the early Floor more metal. I will abstain from my opinion on their newer music to avoid the haters. BTW, this has NOTHING to do with the Disney movie, LOL. Keep rocking.
Comparing Tarja to Floor is never a good idea. Each of them is a completely different person. Plus, they're still friends. You are right about the mysterious aura around Tarja, she always had it around her. She was called Angel, Beauty and Siren in NW, as well as songs. Floor people see her as a warrior princess and call her Valkyrie. The contrast between them is amazing.
Tarja has a huge catalog of songs with Nightwish. She recorded five albums with them. I recommend this list, but there is much more.
