You need to unhitch the unit while it is still in the towing configuration. Remove the towing pins and extend the boom, then unhitch it. The unit should lever back and up off of the hitch because of the weight of the boom/bucket. When you extend the boom/bucket, place it on the ground to keep the unit "level", unlatch the hitch, then slowly raise the boom which will cause that end to go down raising the hitch end off the ball. Move the truck and proceed with the normal conversion steps to dig mode.
Great advice ...thanks so much ...It actually now has more wheels than it originally came with lol mod vid coming out soon lol much easier to move around when you see what I did ....
You are always learning and enjoying your self . The only way is to do it and you have all the time . All of the new projects ahead of you . Just be careful they will and can rip them self apart a lot of power there . Have fun . I do 😅
HAVE FUN DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE CRITICS.😊
Thanks Wayne ....There are only a few ....
You're doing great brother, don't beat yourself up and don't concern yourself with the negative Nellie's. They are just miserable people that like to try and make others miserable with them! Not a person ever born, came out of the womb walking! We all had to crawl first. So keep crawling my friend, soon you will be up walking! Atb, Tony
Thats awesome Tony thanks so much ..its true ...im slowly getting better at it ...lots more vids coming soon .....1 pulling a 5 to 600 lb rock out of the ground ....that impressed me
I’ve been Blessed to have had the Opportunity to Operate an Eighty Thousand Pound Excavator for the Past 25 Years Southern Pa. & Maryland, East Coast U.S.. I am impressed with you taking on the Red Digger and Teaching yourself the Trade to Improve your Homestead. I’ll catch you on the next one, Keep it Safe Out There Sir
Thanks so much for the advice :) Nice to have you here
Glad I stumbled upon your channel. I am in Cass City Michigan. I’m gonna have to go back and watch all your stuff. Interesting. Nice to meet you.
Nice to have you here Karl
hello from NS. enjoy your videos, you do a great job... thumbs up !!
hey from NB ....glad you are enjoying them
Hi Dave the Digger. that was a fun video, looked like you had a good time. Had to smile when you sped the video up as it looked like one of the old stop motion capture films. You seem to be getting the hang of operating pretty quickly. Top Job sir 😊 Peace and Blessings ☺
Thanks Steve ....I am slowly getting it I think ...more vids coming soon ....1 with a massive rock I pulled out of the ground with it ...very impressive
Been thinking about getting one of these for my property.
Thanks for the videos.
Such a great help to have a fun machine!
Hey Sparky👋. That was very satisfying watching the big root come out. Off to watch the next video 😊
Great job Dave! Very impressive piece of machinery. Always enjoy your videos. Continued blessings!
Thanks Margot ....It is quite a rig for sure .....Im already doing mods to improve it lol video coming soon
Yupperszz...posted the question then I saw you running as mentioned...very good setup...well done👍👏👍
Thanks 👍
Lift the front , take off the arms and then lower the boom with the bucket, which will unhook the hitch , move the vehicle, lift the front reattach the arms
Exactly what I was thinking. The wheels will be the pivot point.
Your digger is working awesome.
Practice makes perfect..Your "back" will thank you..Keep up the good work!
Thanks Trish ...sure does lol
Hi Dave and Cindy, Dave you have the patients of a saint, I love your determination
Thanks so much for watching
You are doing the right thing, you will learn as you try. God bless you
Thank you, I will
Good job! Pretty soon working with it will be second nature to you. You got me thinking of lots of projects! I can’t wait to get one.
Its a great machine for sure ....Ive already done a couple of nice mods to it that are awesome ....vid coming soon
you are doing awesome with the trencher keep it up
Thanks ,,,im slowly getting the hang of it ....
“Digger Dave”!!!! Hahaha. Love it. Careful, that nickname may stick.
Thanks for another video. Besides it being a bit difficult to position without powered tracks, it does seem to have a very nice amount of power for its size. I enjoy watching your videos with this machine thus far, you certainly are doing well considering it’s only your 2nd time using it. I too feel the learning curve and can relate. Enjoy that little red beast of yours, looks like bucket loads of fun! Be blessed my friend ✌️😎👍
Thanks so much Mike !! Its a great little rig ..more vids coming soon
Don't fell bad sparky almost everything I've owned l have had to learn own my own, personally I think you are doing great. Like the videos.
Thanks Don ...its getting better as I use it more ...lots of vids coming soon ....mod video also lol
Option 1: Take the outriggers off, unhook the hitch. Lower the boom and replace outriggers. So it's pivoting on it's wheels. Option 2: unhitch before removing wheels form the front. Then as you did at home, raise the vehicle with the boom and swap wheels and outriggers. You know it leans forward, if you reach the boom out while wheel are on in move position.
You got this mate
I'd take out those other 2 big trees behind cabin especially the one right behind cabin so you can open up your secondary drive and future issues with cabin.
Far as moving your digger around I would put a ball hitch on front of the side by side to make certain moves way easier...
It seems the manufacturer put the lines to the dipper on the boom, and the boom lines on the dipper. It’s much easier to get the double action of the elbow and shoulder using both sticks. But we’ll done sir. The more you use it the easier it will be.
Looks quite hard but you're doin a great job 👍
Thanks....its getting easier each time I use it now
The digger seems to be a strong little thing. It’s definitely a learning process.
You could try to lifting up on one side like changing the wheel to unhitch it. It will be tilted but it might work.
One thing for sure you have a beautiful place there for sure
Thanks so much Gene ...We like it for sure
You are doing it the right way to unhook use a bottle jack.
Tilt your bucket out while digging and pull it toward you before curling the bucket and it should help filling it
My guess to unhitch in the current configuration would be (1) lower the bucket to lift the outriggers. (2) Reinsert the outriggers 180 degrees off normal. (3) Slowly raise the boom (lower the outriggers) and the tow hitch should raise and clear. (4) Then reinstall the outriggers correctly. Anyway, that's what Cindy said. :)
Good job
Thanks
I would be making two more wheels and leaving them on the back full time….I would make hydronic cylinder lifts just like a backhoe for the fron that would raise it above the wheels so I never had to pull the front ones off again.
Ha aaaaaa haaaaa u made me laugh when you couldn’t get it on hooked that’s definitely something that would happen to me. I’m not sure what they expect ya to do there but good video man thanks for the demonstrations
Glad you enjoyed
You are doing great ! sure made a bad job easy
Wait until you see the massive rock I pulled out of the ground with it Michael ....vid coming soon lol
I have a small tractor with a box blade and I welded a ball hitch to the back of the box so I can move it up and down to unhook.
great idea
Use the bucket not just to scoop but use the bucket to flatten the soil to. I’ve had a dapple on kobelco excavaters
Im learning to do the flatten with it Kez works great ....
Looks like bull riding 🤠👍
you will get better with time I have one simalar and for what it is it will do alot nor what aregular tractor type will do but alot more than ashovel will do.besides it is fun
Before you put the out riggers in or if you need to put them in to install wheels after wheels are installed just lift front and pull out riggers out and lower front and it will rotate on tires and lift off ball.
Hey there from NE Georgia in the states. New here. I know u said u wanna order a new seat with back & arms. For pull up bars .. can u weld some tube steel onto the body behind & under the seat extended out a lil enuf for u to grab onto & pull up? You'll need to bend for correct shape & locale. I've seen how you fabricate/mod things (previous vids u posted) bc u see ways to make things work better. Great gift btw. Nit everyone is blessed like that.
Thanks so much ....mod video coming next ...couple of things have changed
@@sparkys506adventures4 Nice .. look forward to those. Thnx. Enjoy ur evening.
I unhook my before switching the out riggers and tires
Plow blade for utv. Have fun
I guess watching you do it I found a couple of issues 1 is the machine is too low secondly the boom could be a little bit longer I would think because it appeared that you're constantly having trouble trying to get enough height to put the soil into the back of your ATV I guess the trailer would probably be more suited because it would not sit as high but then you would be in a bigger situation where you had to get the soil off
Put the wheels where they go leave the outriggers out use the bucket to lower the unit in the front raise it back up put the outriggers in
Is it possible to add a trailer hitch to the front of your atv? Backing a trailer with a short wheel span is hard. It always seems that the slightest movement of the atv causes the backhoe to go where you don't want it. A hitch in front of the atv would allow you to move it where you want it much easier. Good luck! Just found your channel. Enjoying it very much. Also, adding a trailer jack should make unhooking a snap.
Great idea but watch for my Mods video lol It now has more wheels than original lol game changer
Great content! I am wondering if the excavator could be used while still pinned to your side by side? Like having a backhoe on the ATV and moving it with the side by side? Asking because thinking that I could use it and leave it pinned on the garden tractor
Im sure it would help ..I may try it sometime
take the outriggers0ff then use the boom to support the digger
I'm not telling you what to do but that bucket does not have any teeth on it they do sell two different types of teeth, Chisel and rock teeth.Chisels are good all around to do what you want to do with it. Right now you are using the mounting pin for the teeth to dig with.(not good) I myself keep the trencher hooked up to my utv for better pulling power and portability sometimes when possible leave hooked to my truck. ( Better anchor to prevent moving when digging). Great effort a little more practice and you will be a pro too. Good luck!!!🙂🙂🙂
Do you happen to have a part number for the teeth ? I looked on Princess Auto website and it shows nothing ....
@@sparkys506adventures4 I don't but where I bought mine were at the local equipment rental place . United equipment rental. The ones that come off a minie trencher . I paid like 40.00 a tooth.what I did is drill a hole in the mount pin big enough that the 2 locking wedges & O-ring fit.( You got to do some back woods engineering. ) Sorry I was not more help.🤫
Take the boom to the side as much and push that side up and it will raise the back end. Not hard at all
You might find it better to load from the Side, Back the Dump Truck along side you and swing over the Tailgate and so that the Max Swing still can’t strike Cabin of Truck. If that makes sense?
Thats why they make jakes. You can't put a trailer jack on it unless its one u pin on an off. One bolted on would get ripped of broken. How do you lift ur side by side to fix a tire? A jack how did you hook it up to side by side had to be a jack. Even if u had the wheels on the back. How would you lift it if one of its tires went flat. Lol. Seem strait forward to me
How about a tow ball on the front of yer 4wheeler 😮😊😮
Beats breaking your back using a shovel hands down. My only issue with these, and the reason I didn't buy one is the amount of time that is wasted transporting, and then transitioning from tow mode to digging mode and back. I guess I'm in too much of a hurry.
Wait until you see my mod vid coming soon .....it moves around much easier now
Leave the wheels in digging position they are and use the boom to lift up the other end and remove the outriggers ?
After the recent mods Ive done its much easier to move around and no need to switch wheels from front to back ...video coming out soon
Physics isn't your thing Digger Dave! It cause you didn't invite me!!
Now you need a thumb!!
I will get one in time ...I rather have a landscape bucket first ...they are a 24 inch wide bucket vs the 13 inch on it now
Put the bucket in the back of your 4x4 you leave the hoe in the dining mode lift the forks off the ground with the boom and move around that way , it's the way my brothinlaw moves his around .
That is a good idea actually .....Watch for my mods video coming out soon ....It now has more wheels than original lol
Turn your out riggers around see if that helps
Put a blade on the front of your side by side and it will help you also
Its going back on today actually Roger lol i have some gravel too smooth out lol
Sell that and buy a used terramite for 5 or 6 k. Way more power and frt end loader. I haven't watched yr videos except trying to set it up. Sure it won't pull stumps. Wish u the best
Used Terra mites are impossible to find around here and if you do find one it will be totally worn out . Most used compact tractors are overpriced ......You may want to watch my latest stump pulling video ....all this machine needs is some counterweight on the rear
Dig into the ground to lift the back
You'll be able to pick a man's nose in no time with it😂
The poor man’s backhoe …. The only reason I would ever buy one is to mount it to a tractor and save the 7-10,000 they want for one for the tractors…. I’ll take 3-4000 over the 7-10 grand price tag….
looks like a toy till you start digging and ripping out stumps.
It has a lot of hydraulic force especially curling the bucket
The learning curve is obvious as you get morecomfortable.
Its coming slowly lol
If the Earth keeps pulling the Machine into the Cut, Take a Few Moments and Loosen up a Load or Two of Earth. That also Blends the Material, if Desired. Then push the Digger Back into loading position and load out loose Material. Just my opinion and observation. Not an armchair quarterback, trying to be helpful is all
Thats a great idea actually ...i did dig more off cam and have a nice pile ready to load and move soon
