First time fishing in sea water, I was last week in the canal and using the techniques from your videos, I got my first ever stripper 22”, small one to start, looking to go back for the fall running. I’m from Chicago, about 15hr driving.
Hi Jasper, even we in germany dont have any stripers i love watching your vids. As a fishermen i love to hear and learn about other techniques and look out what i can include into my fishing. Especially the treble hook rigging has caught my interest ;) Keep on the good work, tigh lines!
Interested in that canal rod you are designing and thanks for the pointers on the stick shad I’ve thrown them a couple times and was fishing them way wrong and baited throwing them in go to try the way you have it setup thanks again
Hi Jasper,Great video--thanks! Quick couple of questions:1. What size hardware for the canal rigged stick shad? Was that a 3/0 treble, 6XH Rosco rings and maybe 225lb swivel?? Guessing here?2. I'm very interested in the canal rod you mentioned--any updates? Specifications, length, lure weights, action...price?Thanks a bunch in advance for any info,Rob
Any update on the rod(s)? Are you still trying to keep it under 2 bills? Also, will there be different sizes and actions for different applications (plugging vs. jigging) or just one decent all around canal specific rod? I'm looking to get a better all around rod but something I can bring to the ditch as well. I live near plum island on the north shore close to the mouth of the Merrimack river, so I encounter conditions similar to the canal as well as a lot of beach plugging. Was just curious if your design would accommodate something like that. Also I just bought some stick shads and magic swimmers from your links. Those are a hell of a deal if you don't want to lose a $25 sebile. Keep up the good work man!
Jasper the intro song really ' match the hatch' as it explains 'The river's current reminds him of his passion and love.......etc.' Could it be a fluke, a stroke of good luck, that you chose this song. I'm Cambodian surfcaster addict from California. Thumb up, sick song bro.
In your other vids you are wearing Costa sunglasses right?... any plans to do a review on them before i drop a ton (to me) money on the tuna alley 580P? even without a vid review on them, how do you like yours?
Love this bro will def add to my lure, I actually have seen lots of guys do this, even as a small spoon, this year gonna finally give it a go! thanks for the tip man
Great vid. Thanks for posting. AND thank you for reminding me it’s time to change the batteries in the alarm. You had me walking around the f’ng house!
omg lol that is so funny and def annoying! I didn't even realize at all. Im just in there so often I guess Ive gotten use to it lmao, my apologies and thank you for the support!
Ok, let’s plan for the next vid. I’m thinking jigging? Not sure if you use soft plastics very often but I could use an education about what to do at The Canal. Peace.
Just getting into surf fishing and going to the canal in Spring 2020. I need to get a heavier rod but for now I have a Daiwa BG4500 reel. I see 6500 is recommended...Is the 4500 too small , am guessing it is....
It really depends on where you are fishing, are you looking for fish the canal? or outside of the canal? My setups vary greatly depending on where I fish.
Not a thing man, it swims relatively the same way. I might let it sink for a bit depending on how deep I am fishing and then start my retrieve. but still the same technique. Hope that helps bro!
You make great video's Jasper, I subscribed to your channel, learned a lot already. I live in the Netherlands Europe and I'm planning for a week striper fishing on Cape Cod, definitely will be spending time at the Canal. Looking at this upcoming september 2018, would scheduling a week around the new moon be a good choice or wait until may/june 2019? And a second question: I will be traveling from the Netherlands in Europe so am looking for a good Canal travel rod, any suggestions? Will you be fishing the canal around that time yourself? Keep up the good work and thank you!
Also, you are absolutely correct about them casting like a towel when rigged like that. However they cast pretty well when rigged standard with two trebles or a single treble on the belly without the splits and swivel. The sinking versions are far better casters and I have very impressed with the distances I can get with them. (I fully understand rigging them with the splits and swivel but sometimes that extra bit of distance is needed and a change in rigging can help you get out there).
Does this lure work well at night? And would you still recommend the floating version? Is there any particular weight that you recommend for mostly fishing at night?
Jasper, love the videos. Going up to fish the canal the 24th to 29th of this month, how hard to come by are stripers of 25lbs and up? a fish of this size would be my new PB striper and im looking to break it this trip
What is that intro music? Nice video keep up all the good work. Hope to see you at cape cod canal this year. Keep on fishing. I’m also Cambodian and want to know what that song is called and I never heard it before lmao.
I have a question since I just bought three of them (SS-072-BRDK, SS-060-HGR, SS-060-CHRCH) mainly for river/stream smallies, do they really need to be modded this way when I've never even ever had to do this to any other lure I've thrown not even for the 36"+ pikes??

Love your videos. Where you at. I’m waiting for more videos.
Do you prefer the slow sinking, fast sinking, or floating
I have split rings in the 100 pound range. My pliers won’t even open them up to fit a 7/O in-line hook l. What do you recommend for split ring pliers?

What split rings hooks and barrel swivels do you use on the stick shad that's 7.25 inches

Jasper, where on the canal do you fish the most?
Are there fish biting in the second week in May usually ?
Hey jasper my name is Alex Cruz from Newport Rl and I would like if you could give me some good tips on what Rod and reel. To fish in the capes
It really depends on where you are fishing, are you looking for fish the canal? or outside of the canal? My setups vary greatly depending on where I fish.
I will be fishing the canal
You said you prefer the floating, but if you were to fish the sinking version would you change anything up?
Not a thing man, it swims relatively the same way. I might let it sink for a bit depending on how deep I am fishing and then start my retrieve. but still the same technique. Hope that helps bro!
Always enjoy your videos Jasper! Where's a good spot for holdover stripers on or around the cape?
THE BAYS! and Estuaries!
How much will your rods be sold in stores for

Ever try the sebile bull minnow?
Have a nice jay :)

Still didn't fix that glass yet haha and someone needs to put batteries in their smoke alarms
LMAO I didn't even realize I've just gotten use to them and no sadly the door is not fixed yet. Prob gonna be a bit before that happens lmao
Jasper Coutu hahaha yeah after awhile you get used to them going off. How did you break the door anyway?
Is this a Cambodian khmer song? In the intro I swear it sounds like it.
HOW WELL WILL THE "COUTU" ROD WORK WITH A B.G. 5000?
What is that intro music? Nice video keep up all the good work. Hope to see you at cape cod canal this year. Keep on fishing. I’m also Cambodian and want to know what that song is called and I never heard it before lmao.
