Hey friends! My thoughts on 7 bags that are pretty bad quality considering their price tags. I own a few of these so I thought I’d demo some of the drawbacks in real life vs a picture. BUT, you HAVE TO make your own decisions on these things. Don’t listen to me, I’m just sharing my thoughts and personal experiences xx
My LV neverfull still as strong as me. Can carry 20-30lbs. Have carried it with me in my many travels. Its been more than 10years and still my preferred travel bag more than Chanel, gucci and dior tote bags. So in terms of being cheap… it is not cheap. The quality is superb. My other tote bags require more care and already looking loose. Even much better than Hermes garden tote bag. Have you seen a 10 year old hermes bag? And it is priced way too high!
I think people have noticed that the canvas is not the same. It also seems like it depends on where it was made. My neverfull is only 4 years old but it was made in France so the canvas is nice and thick. I have started to carry it more recently and as a mom of a toddler it can carry all his stuff and mine.
Hi Sophie!!! Ooops 19hrs late!! I was out all day yesterday with two of my friends that I have always kept in touch with but haven't seen for about 30 years. We met in a restaurant and had lunch and then nattered so much that we had to ask for the menu again to have dinner!! Am loving my time back in London. I have never been a fan of that Prada bag nor the LV Neverful and wouldn't pay for any of those you mentioned even though I don't actively dislike the styles. Hugs xx
Can you do a buy this not that video?? I am considering buying the pochette Métis in the leather from LV and if I am going to spend $3,000 I would love to see options from other brands ….❤
In general I think structured bags will always look more expensive and luxurious compared to non structured bags. I do have a Speedy 30 and love it. I don’t mind that it sags a bit as it wasn’t meant to be a structured bag. I love the history of the Speedy and it was my very first luxury bag so will always keep it in my collection.
Agreed! In pictures it looks super outdated but I fall in love with it every time I see it in person. It’s practical because it holds a ton, and it can be made more structured with a bag organizer if you want. Idk what it is about LV canvas that is so magnetic.
This is why I buy all my designer bags second-hand, the older the better. I am fine if they have stains inside or whatnot, the price is (somewhat) lower, and (like my century-old home) I can believe that because it lasted this long, it’ll last even longer.
You know it's crazy to me how quickly they raise prices on these bags. Like the fact that you can buy a bag for $1,900 and then three years later it's at over $2,400. It's hard trying to save for a bag while watching the price go up
LV started as a travel company, they invented the canvas material that has now been replicated by other brands throughout the world. Because of this, their canvas was meant to be light but hard wearing, so that it would not add weight or take up more space than necessary. The older canvases feel thicker because they were coated with different chemicals that were actually toxic (I've also heard carcinogenic but can't verify). At some point LV reformulated their process to take out these chemicals, so the texture of the canvas changed. There are also different thicknesses of canvas used for different pieces. So items that need to be "squishier" will have a softer more malleable canvas than bags that are supposed to be more structured. All of this being said, EVERY bag, no matter the brand or price, will start to sag or crease with time. It's called wear. If we want the bags to stay exactly the same as the day they were purchased, then they should sit on the shelf as eye candy and never be used.
Yes, and I actually quiet like a “saggy” bag, looks so comfortable and has a personal feeling. That being said I do think LV’s quality is going down and way overpriced.
I was thinking that vintage bags were better quality because the canvas was thicker, from what others have said, but your explanation helped a lot. Thank you!
I still love my Neverfull GM and MM🥰. I tried to avoid it like the plague bec of POV like this( though I see the points)but for my lifestyle the LV canvas is durable, reliable, care free lux. The LV tote is the most easy, convenient design for me. I don't need it classy bec I really don't dress up, my lifestyle is very casual. I don't wanna own leather, classy items that will sit in my closet bec it doesn't go with my wardrobe. I don't want it in leather bec I love how light canvas is. I also have the multi pochette 😂, all I bought after the hype just to make sure I really wanted it. I love the Speedy bec I can fold it,it prove convenient esp when we travel and save space. I'm more practical so I don't do high maintenance leather. Yeah being copied everywhere is not a good thing but I came to terms with it. Believe me the $50 ones disintegrate fast and people say it's just like the original, no ma'am it's not.I owned the cheap fake ones and they are nowhere near the original. I learned my lessons😢. I have a Gucci pebbled calfskin for a more formal event (thinking of getting a YSL Kate in soft calfskin too). But everyday my canvas works for me rain or shine. One more thing, they also still cost way less than leather and are within my budget.
@@ItsmeLindaKrat That is great! I have a couple of bags that I wish I had not bought and they are mainly the tiny ones where you have to organize your miniature belongings in them like a Rubik’s Cube. Forget getting them out, then back in again while out and about. Love a good tote.
I thought the Speedy looked sloppy when it’s not full and saggy. I changed my mind after owning several in Azur and limited editions, now I love the sag and how it molds to the body. Luxury is not just about the look but how it feels and wears.
Sophie trying to describe her gym without saying, “I can wear this bag because there’s nothing but a bunch of other rich people that go there” was so funny to me 😂😂😂❤️ love you and loved this video as always!! 😘
Dear Lawd, I'm sorry; I don't mean to offend, but I would be livid. If I spent that much money and got such bad quality. I would demand my money back. Sorry, Sophie, this must be hard for you; it's hard for me to see these beloved brands letting themselves down.
Hello lovely Hannah! Yes I get you, I just think that prices are going up at such a rate, and so many of these bags aren’t looking like their new expensive price tags. Hugs!☺️❤️xx
My Speedy is 25 years old. The canvas is thick and the quality is superb. No sagging, either. Sorry to hear the quality has declined. I wear mine with pride!
The older the bag the higher quality materials they used!(just look at vintage chanel and how good they still are!)Now LV feels like plastic more than leather tbh, like it’s getting hard to even tell an original from a fake 😢
I’m such a quality snob, and I’ve been very unimpressed with the quality of a LOT of designer bags. Never really wanted anything LV other than an antique trunk, but those have definitely stood the test of time. I just remember talking to a YSL SA and then telling me the sac du jour was bonded leather like this was a good thing and not the cheapest thing you could still technically call leather. I do find it frustrating though because if you follow menswear they have a lot more focus on materials and construction techniques and it feels impossible to find anything similar in a feminine silhouette. At this point I’m wondering if custom is the only option.
Very interesting tips and advice, when it comes to the Neverfull I agree they are everywhere. When I go to the shopping centre I see so many fakes but I honestly still love and adore my Neverfull. I don't care if someone questions its authenticity because I know it's authentic and that matters to me. ☺️
I would recommend looking at the furla opportunity tote! it’s similar to the dior book tote in terms of vibe but it’s higher quality and more affordable. it has 5 feet at the bottom of the bag, the handles are leather, and it’s lined.
I use my Neverfull MM all the time as a mom of 3, who has to hold snacks and everyone’s devices along with my essentials. Also fits my planner. I have an insert bought from Amazon and it zips and keeps everything secure and organized. Also keeps the shape.
Sophie, thanks for your honesty. I love the fact that you own some items that probably weren't the best choice when it comes to price, quality or value for money. It keeps these type of videos - real! Keep up the great content xx
I only have two the bags on your list, the Neverfull and the Speedy (both regular and the bandoulier version). I personally never have a problem with them sagging or looking cheap because i bought the smallest size of the each and i don’t overload them with heavy items. I find the canvas on my bags lovely and thick so they don’t collapse when empty either. I did buy all my bags gently preloved (but authenticated) and so the cost per wear is much more reasonable that way. Current prices are insane but the bags themselves are innocent haha.
I love the look of the Dior book tote, but can’t justify the price, especially now after hearing your thoughts on it. But I have to say that last year H&M had a similar tote in a black and white houndstooth that I got and I love it! It has a similar size and shape as the Dior, and it was so reasonably priced that I don’t worry about it. Surprisingly it’s held up well, too. I find that I don’t use it a ton, but it is handy when I need a big tote. I know most people wouldn’t be caught dead with an H&M bag, but I don’t mind if it serves a purpose and it is well made. I don’t think they are still selling it this year, but they have similar one in a plaid that is very attractive. Maybe this would be good for someone to buy if they are on the fence about the Dior, so they could see if they would really use it. Sophie, that could be an interesting topic for a video - bags that are similar to more expensive bags (not fakes) that you could buy to see if you like that size/shape before investing. You mentioned the Kate Spade bag being similar to the Prada, that sort of thing.
Aww sorry that you feel the Dior Book Tote is cheap. I do agree the price has become ridiculous and likely wouldn’t buy another one but I don’t regret my red jouy one at all! It might also depend what print you get as well. I’d practically opt for all the intricate Jouy and Star prints. I always have passerby admirers when I use it
I looooove my LV Multi Pochettes Accessoires! It’s casual and so practical when you are doing daily tasks, 😊shopping or travelling. It elevates a casual jean look and you have your 2 hands free
I have the speedy and the neverfull. I got the piece for the bottom of the bag to make it more structured. Definitely not getting rid of the speedy. My husband got it for me on my 40th birthday
Good grief Sophie, I'm actually truly shocked at the Goyard! 😱 I was also confused by LV's Multi Pochette, my CA seemed shocked that I didn't think it was the greatest thing since sliced bread! 🤣💕 xx
Sure, I get his perspective - the MPA is, after all, a sliced bag 😁 (and sliced bread is, indeed, the greatest thing!) 🤣 I actually really like the Multi Pochette Accessoires, even to this day (don't care much about what's "in" or "out"), but I agree with Sophie, it's not worth spending all that money if, in the end, it doesn't work for you. The real shocker here was the Goyard for me as well... 🤍🤍 Have a lovely week, Gwenny! Cat.
I love the MPA but I don’t usually wear it all together. Usually just the guitar strap and the bags (without the coin purse) and without the chain for a casual look.
I totally agree on the prada nylon! I got the version with the leather handle in a beige colour but I got that when it was around £650 and I absolutely love it. However, when I saw the price of it now I almost fell off my chair! Just shy of 1k for a nylon bag?? Crazy money!! There’s no way I would buy that at its current price so I’m so glad I got it when I did!
Love my Speedy Damier Ebene 25! I used to own the size 30 many years ago, but sold it because it was too big for my needs. The 25 is perfect, and I don't care if it looks dated. I'm a top-handle gal and it's one of my favorite styles.
Hi, Sophie! My favorite travel bag is my Ebene Speedy Bandolier 35. For me, it's the sweet spot size in being able to carry a good amount crossbody without it being too heavy and small enough to shove under the seat in front of me on the plane. I do use a bag insert organizer with the bag, which stabilizes the base. I don't worry about it getting travel-worn. Agree with another post that LV canvas bags were originally made for travel. They're made to get used. I think the newer, trendy LV bags are a different story, and would never use them the way I throw my Speedy 35 around when I travel. It's been rained on, shoved under seats, and thrown around quite a bit when I travel, and it's still going strong! I do condition the leather and clean the canvas occasionally just to keep it in good "health." Other than that, I don't give it a thought. Agree with you totally on the Chanel flap bags. Saw a new one at my area Chanel store with pearls that was lovely, but with a price tag of $8,000 US, I just don't see the value. (And, honestly thought the "pearls" looked kind of plastic-like....)
I have 2 speedys and organizers stop sag. My 14 yo and 3 yo speedy have no sag and still look new. I also don't keep the padlock in as causes the hole to sag
I saved for over two years to buy the LV Neverfull. Bought it and then realized I preferred a Tory Burch tote to it that I bought at an outlet for $130. I sold the Neverfull and haven't looked back. The TB tote looks so much better and doesn't sag like you mentioned. I always try to buy the everyday luxury version of whatever bag I'm looking at to see if I truly love the style or I'm falling for their marketing. I keep doing that with TB and the Chanel classic flap.
As a proud owner of the multi pochette I can honestly say I probably wouldn’t have bought it for the current price.. that being said, it’s a bag that really works for me now. I find it versatile and practical (because of the separate compartments I know exactly where my keys are :)). It’s still a trendy bag, but pairing a- or both pochettes with a different strap will give it another look. Also pieces can be used independently and in my opinion monogram is timeless and easy to incorporate into outfits (I like classic basics in solid colours). I haven’t seen the goyard bag in real life, but having those issues this early on is a tell tale sign of bad quality. Also: comparing the goyard totes to the Neverfull, I think goyard looks even cheaper because of the flimsy canvas. And I’m not a fan to begin with! The biggest problem I really have with luxury now is that pricepoints don’t translate themselves into the quality or unique expierience you would like to have spending those amounts of money. Waiting in line, begging for bags, bad costumer service..
I agree wholeheartedly with every single one of your bags with the exception of the Speedy. That bag is hands-down just a classic piece. I purchased mine in 2010 and got the strap version. I wouldn’t sell it for anything and part of the reason is because I have the older canvas which is very thick and structured. I do agree with the fact that just because a price increases doesn’t mean the bag is worth that increase which is what I think happened to this particular bag. I would never spend $2000 on it. I believe I spent $1200 on my Bandelier version
Dear Sophie, I love your Videos because you are so honest. I can literally agree on all the bags you mentioned. Only the LV nerverfull to me as a mum is a staple. It is very durable, fits a ton and you can vibe it down when the sticky hands get on it. Sending you all the best whishes from Austria.
I have a speedy monogram that I love and I use an organizer with it. I also have an Epi speedy that holds it’s shape without an organizer. I can honestly say that the Epi speedy seems to be more durable and better quality
I now use my Neverfull as my go to diaper bag, lol. It is actually perfect for it. And since I basically didn’t use it anymore, I’m now so happy, that I found a good use for it. I originally bought it because every one said you need that bag, when you start your collection… I love my speedy though.
Great video, and I totally agree with most of what you said, but I do like the fact that the speedy sags. It gives a relaxed, casual vibe and in my opinion, the sag is what’s charming about the speedy.
Hey Sophie sweets. I have the LV neverfull in the World Tour personalised to me so definitely not cheap or fake. I’ve also just had a leather artisan I know add tote handles in the same black leather and thickness as the shoulder straps. Total game changer. I also have the multi pochette in the world tour, love it, perfect for travel to keep valuables close in conjunction with a carry on. Have a great week, love to David and the bunnies 🐰 ❤
I’m not surprised at all about the Goyard bag. When I first heard of this brand I heard mostly negative comments. At the time I had only seen the totes and they seemed to show wear on the corners very quickly. I also thought they looked extremely flimsy.😩 I have two Neverfuls and am very impressed with them. I bought my second last year in the MM size in the Damier Ebene. I’ve worn it more than any other bag I have this past year and don’t have one complaint.❤️❤️❤️ EDIT: As I continued to watch Sophie you actually called it flimsy. I guess my impression is correct.😩
I love your point of view of these bags. I have the same thoughts but just never expressed them but I am so glad you have brought these points to light!
Hi Sophie ! Any chance to do this kind of vlog on ready -to-wear popular items ( shoes , Chanel iconic jacket etc) ? For some people design logos are more important than quality and that first Prada is a good example .
Dear Sophie, I think you are completely right in calling all these bags cheap looking. I would add one more thing: no matter how structured a bag is , when it screams logo everywhere it will always look cheap.I would encourage any classy lady to reconsider becoming a walking advertisement for these companies.
I agree about the speedy. Within a year of purchase, mine was sagging & split a bit down the side. It was a brand new bag from the Bond Street store, but it has put me off buying them again!!!
The thing is, you don't know that these bags will sag until you get them home and really use them. For me, I like the lighter handbag. You have to really look and pick it up and hold it. That's the only way you can tell how a bag will work for you.
You’re so right Denisa! This is what I’ve found - it’s not until you use the bag and the return period has long expired that you realise potential drawbacks!xx
I've always thought that the Prada bag looked flimsy, thanks for affirming that! As much as I love the Neverfull and the Speedy, I have to agree with you on their not being worth the current prices. So much so, I decided to go the replica route on a Neverfull, and I'm so glad I did. I laughed when you got to that multi piece LV, I thought the exact same thing! Life's too short for a confusing bag LOL!
I have a vintage Speedy that I recently had Vachetta replacement from LV repair. The canvas is a lot thicker than the newer ones but I love that bag! I do have a felt liner to assist in keeping its shape and works nicely. I will agree about the Prada bag-it does look cheap. The Dior Book Tote is beautiful but when I was in Cannes this summer it seemed like a battle of the totes! Everyone had either the Book Tote or Neverfull! I was happy with my vintage LV Randonnee because nobody has it! Lol! Nice video!!!🥰
a great alternative to goyard (and LV neverfull) is faure le page!! their canvas is hand painted but also coated (like LV and unlike goyard) goyard canvas absolutely cannot be used in the rain, but FLP is totally fine
I agree with what you have said Sophie. I own several speedys but I like the shape. I do have to add a base though to stop that horrible sagging which just looks nasty. I also have the LV accessorise bag which I love. I removed the coin purse as I think it looks daft hanging there. I actually like the fact I can do smart casual with the guitar strap or change it up to wear with chain only. I can also do guitar strap and have chain dangling for it to look different. I like the 2 x pouchettes as it allows me to split my stuff into the two bags.
That was a wicked interesting video! The reasons for everything made a lot of sense. Would you be up for making a video about bags that look more expensive than they are?
Even though the LV Neverfull GM was my first bag, I totally agree with your comments! I bought it for travel and the few times I go into the office, and actually use it for shopping to hold my purchases. I find it very problematic as an everyday bag because of the size. I kind of like how it doesn’t look super expensive, weirdly enough, because I use it for casual purposes. There are plenty of other totes that I love that are way classier looking, like the Lady Dior and Fendi Sunshine that can be used for a more elevated look. They all have a time and place in my opinion!
I have LV Alma BB (my first designer bag), which I really enjoy because of its structure and classic look I don't like Speedy or Neverful I am making very careful purchases for my wadrobe ,as I just started adding luxury to it Thank you for these videos
Great video, Sophie! At least, in the past, those bags were more reasonably priced for what they are, but now, they look cheap but are actually expensive.
I think my biggest issue is definitely the prices. Brands are raising their prices and not even upping the quality. In fact some brands raise their prices and the quality just gets worse (Chanel im looking at you)
We are the reason Arnault is like the fourth richest man in the world. We pay his ridiculous prices to try and look rich. I’m guilty, but I’m thinking of putting my money elsewhere now, like in my home or trips.
Not trying to be rude but the Asian and especially the counterfeiting market made it worse. People forget how that affects a company and increases the price of the real bag for the rest of us who want to buy the authentic.
I have a vintage Neverfull in GM. It is a terrific bag. I would absolutely not buy the new bags with the thinner canvas. If I wrecked my Neverfull , I would have to either buy one that was vintage or I would just get a different bag. I’m already sort of transitioning to the on the go
Goyard is surprisingly cheap feeling, and I have heard people say they don't bear up well if they get rained on, which I simply can't have in a bag. Agreed that for nylon bags, the Kate Spade is the better one - I also just can't stomach paying thousands for NYLON.
I love that you do these videos Sophie. For the average person, when you’re spending hundreds of dollars on a handbag you want to think it through. One note I’ll make about the speedy, although I love how iconic the canvas is I do mostly agree with you but the empreinte leather versions look amazing 🤩
Hi Sophie. I enjoy your videos and look forward to them. I am going through a hard time right now and I like to listen to you talk about bags and value your opinion. This is my quick escape from life. Thank you so much!
I think a lot needs to said about when the bags were manufactured. In many cases comparing even the same bag isn’t always accurate for how good it is. That goes for many brands. The inconsistency in quality is really making a strong case for buying preloved or vintage. My Speedy is from the 90’s and in great condition; largely due to the better canvas quality. It’s beyond just the bag style, but also when was it produced.
Totally agree on your comments in the LV bags. Most of what we see is fake. It’s everywhere, and now if I see a real LV bag, it still says cheap (to me)
No hard feelings, I have the speedy but I bought a bag shaper for it and looks brilliant. The reason I got it was because it's an ultimate classic and how could I not when Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy carried one. :)
I love Godard bag because they are light and easy to use, so the weight is a plus for me instead. And the logo is not hand paint, it’s printed and hand paint if any part is missing.
I wouldn’t be without my neverfull, lightweight, pliable and my forever travel classic along with my sppedy b25. Had to wait till I was 50 to be able to get my hands on a Chanel and couldn’t cope with the weight once full and changed it for a woc…. I’ll always be a canvas girl 🤩🤩🤩
Hey, Sophie, I know you’re not the biggest LV fan but I own a clunny bb in the monogram canvas and it’s an amazing bag. The canvas is amazing and the shape of the bag is my favourite.
Ever since I was in school I never understood the popularity of Neverfull! I didn't realize it was actually a legit LV bag till recently, because my local flea market sold counterfeits all the time!
Hello lovely Hasina! Oooh, I hadn’t heard about this new version, that sounds really good if they’ve fixed the sag issues! Let me know if you get it and how you find it!xx
Ah thanks for replying Sophie 😊. I have watched ur videos since 9 years hair extensions days! Yes will keep u informed if I purchase. Thank you for all ur advice over the years when it comes to luxury items, as u have guided me more then u know x
That’s great they fixed the issues. The Speedy 25 was my first luxury purchase in 2010 and I loved when it was slouchy LOL that was more “hobo” looking during that time when boho was in style 😅
Hi Sophie, thank you for another great video and honest opinions. I am just beginning to feel a bit better but still having a snuggly early evening and keeping up with lemon and honey. I keep forgetting to say thank you for recommending Vivaia. I got the ankle boots, and they are so soft and comfortable. So far, I have only worn them in the house because of being off colour, but I am really impressed. 💐💐💐
I always love a structured bag. That said I have had 3speedy 30s over the past almost 40 years and they are truly classic. Served me well when my children were young as could throw in everything a little needed, never really used a "diaper" bag. When they would get too saggy/after 10 or so years I bought a new one. Every autumn I still pull one out as it is a perfect fall bag. Debating purchasing a 25 bandolier in leather or another Sac du Jour...
I like my speedy sagging like that. Somethings just depend on how you style them. Also love my neverfull and it will only look cheap on someone if their entire outfit looks cheap. Everything depends on how you wear it and how you style it.
Tbh, I don’t love any LV bags, so I own only multi pochette and it is the bag I reach the most. I bought a polene bag because it is cheaper, and to be used on the day I won’t have to worry about scratching expensive bag, but the multi pochette is very versatile and still number one I wear most. It goes with everything. My Chanel bags on the other hand, sitting in my closet and have been used a lot less to the point where I start to think why I bought these Chanel bags😂
Love your videos Sophie!! I still love my neverfull but I wouldn’t pay todays price for it. Mine is about ten years old. I actually really love the sag of my speedies 😬 however I think anything Prada looks cheap and plasticky. I’m sure people will disagree with my opinions as well but that’s why we all buy and wear what we love! 💜
I wanted a Damier Azur Neverfull for a daily tote for the longest time but when it came down to it, I couldn’t buy it. I got the IEMA, which has since been discontinued and it holds nearly the amount of a Neverfull but it zips closed, has a front pocket, and a lock. I feel like I have a special tote that I don’t see anywhere else.
I agree.. I personally think most of the non leather bags doesn’t look very expensive or worth it for the cost of the product.. I had been wanting to get tote, but I backed out at the last minute, I bought lady dior instead. I couldn’t spend that much money on a canvas bag.
Sophie, l love your ruby earrings David got for you, so classic and timeless! Ruby is my birthstone (July) and you really inspired me to get a pair for myself, love them!
Been thinking hard about selling all my vintage LV canvas bags for the exact reasons you mention. But I can't bring myself to doing it mainly bec/ the quality and the thickness of the canvas doesn't compare at all to the new ones. So, I use my NF as a gym bag. Also, I don't ever buy anything that has a huge brand name all over. Thanks Sophie!
I picked up a handbag that was street treasure, someone had a clear out and left some items on the pavement. It's real leather BHS bag, vintage, possibly 20 years old or more and very good quality stitching. It's in the style the Mulberry Bayswater. It's made me think about the cost of hand bags.
Hi lovely, great video as usual. I missed this one yesterday, I can't believe!! I love Sundays they wouldn't be the same without you! I watch them when the Girls are in Bed and I can enjoy my glass of wine 🍷! Perfekt end of the Weekend! Keep going my dear! Lots of love from Austria! PS: Thanks for sharing the Farfetch code, just ordered dsquared2 boots!! Saved a bit ! ❤️
I like the look of the Neverfull. I think the casualness is fun. I don’t own one yet... The Dior book tote is beyond my understanding. The saddlebag is even further, lol.
I think for some brands at this point it is better to buy preloved or even vintage. I want a speedy b30 or 25. Its a basic but i can get the thicker canvas preloved and the color i want.
I love the saggy look of my speedy! I got an organizer insert for it and I ended up not using it coz it just looked too bulky and structured. I much prefer the saggy look. And I had mine personalized with my initials so it feels really special to me.
I have the men's version of that LV modular bag and it was so handy when I was traveling. I was going from HK(primary work)➡️SG (for work) ➡️ US (for holiday). I used the front pouch for passports and covid related documents. Then when I was working from SG office, I only used the main compartment. Also great was the little coin pouch because I could keep my foreign $ inside.
I only have the Luis Vuitton Multi Accessories with the pink strap and I can agree the multiple bags can get annoying. It looks cute and can dress up outfits, but it’s definitely been played out and copied so much already. I may end up selling it at some point in the future but I’m still enjoying it now. Or just keep it since the bags are nice on their own idk that’s why I got it to begin with thought it had a lot of functionality 🤷🏼♀️
The Dior book tote is lovely, but I knew from the time it dropped that it was going to have a short shelf life. The LV Accessories bag does look cheap in my humble opinion. I have been trying to get a Felicie Pochette before they changed it to the current price. I always miss the notifications when they're in stock. For me, that's the perfect bag that can switch from casual to night out with little effort.
LOL! So many good points in this video! Personally I feel like when it comes to LV purchasing an item in Damier Ebene can save you on the aesthetic and aging of the item. DE ages a lot better than monogram and I personally feel like it looks much more professional and luxe compared to monogram. Vachetta can look super dingy when it ages and can ruin a nice outfit. Plus I feel like monogram is way too casual and it’s hard to “dress it up” - great video!
I have the neverfull in black empriente leather. It’s so much better than the canvas version I had. I have the Speedy 20. The small size makes it more structured and perfect! The rest of your video is spot on.
I actually like my speedy sagging lol. Gives it that casual look I love for an everyday bag. I still think the speedy looks expensive because of the canvas, the quality and how unique/classy it is.
I agree Sophie. The Neverful and Speedy (and the Goyard tote too) look flimsy and messy. The pochet thing is a hybrid mess. I really like my LV buckets. They are more structured, thicker and hold their shape. I like my Chanel miniflap that I got in 2017 when the price was acceptable to me. The Chanel WOC has its place too. Still like my mini Jody even though you can get faux leather copies on Amazon lol. I think our dearly departed Queen Elizabeth had the right idea: a shiny leather structured top handle, signature look.
Really enjoy watching your videos! I was wondering what your thoughts are on the Bottega Veneta Jodie bags? Would you say they are worth the investment or do you see them more as trend pieces?❤
Totally agree and you made a lot of sense talking about all the bags you mentioned. It’s ridiculous how expensive they are considering the quality of these bags..
I feel so confused about the Dior book tote I love the look but I can’t justify the price. It seems they’ve become a staple and there going to stay around so should have probably just brought one when I first looked at them now there sooo much more expensive. My worry at the time was I had a light coloured Chanel Deauville that got dirty so thought this would probably get dirty too. How do you find it?
The Neverfull can definitely be improved. I feel it needs thicker straps and a better way to keep it more secure. For both the Neverfull and the speedy, they look way better with an organizer to keep its shape. Perhaps maybe the OnTheGo is supposed to be an improved Neverfull? The speedy 20 is way better quality - the interior of that particular speedy is lined and holds its shape.
@@chidenisee Omg yes! I have an LV Artsy from 2011 and the canvas is THICK. It’s got a suppleness to it that the new canvas doesn’t xx
I think that when it comes to nylon- nothing can beat Longchamp bags. And they look great :)
Agree!
And the brand’s leather bags are stellar!!!
Yup
Absolutely! They don’t pretend to be luxury, they are just great, practical, affordable bags.
Love Longchamp, I have wayyyyy too many ❤😂
In general I think structured bags will always look more expensive and luxurious compared to non structured bags.
You can buy a organizer to go in your speedy, will help retain its shape and won't sag.
The speedy is a classic! No one can deny that!
Same here! Got my “doctors bag” in 77 for a HS graduation present. Will always be my favorite bag ⭐️
I’ve always loved the Speedy but I’d definitely get one of those inserts instead of just letting it get saggy.
This is why I buy all my designer bags second-hand, the older the better. I am fine if they have stains inside or whatnot, the price is (somewhat) lower, and (like my century-old home) I can believe that because it lasted this long, it’ll last even longer.
Pre owned period lol…
I get them in new condition and never with stains or damages
Agreed! I have a pochette accessories from 1999 and a key pouch from 1987; they’re both amazing quality
Amen
Thank you!
I bought a hobo bag so it was saggy from the start. Unfortunately the LV capucine top handle bag looks awful when it starts sagging
Agreed and thank you. I believe the Speedy was also created as a smaller version of the Keepall for travel not intended to be a handbag.
Right
Great video as always. I think the kiss of death for a bag is when you see it literally everywhere ie: the Neverfull. Sold all of mine years ago.
Chanel Classic Flap is another one on the way there, especially the medium ones.
LV canvas lasts forever and it’s not heavy.
I love my Neverfull too. So light, so room, so durable and with a bag organizer, it’s the best.
I never liked the sag either. Used to put a piece of cardboard in the bottom. Gave it structure
I put those felt bag organizers in my Speedy, I prefer a structured bag shape without the sag.
Sophie trying to describe her gym without saying, “I can wear this bag because there’s nothing but a bunch of other rich people that go there” was so funny to me 😂😂😂❤️ love you and loved this video as always!! 😘
I caught that too! 😂 I haven’t seen many Vuittons at my local Y, lol
Hahaha yes!
I see women in Hong Kong carry chanel to go hiking 😂
I agree. My Speedy is in great condition and doesn't sag.
@@despinapoe534 Same here, mine is about 17 years old.
I agree. I have a 1994 speedy 30
Correct you don't buy or wear it for others. You do it for youself, many people don't understand this.
I love my Tote bags including my Neverfull.
I would recommend looking at the furla opportunity tote! it’s similar to the dior book tote in terms of vibe but it’s higher quality and more affordable. it has 5 feet at the bottom of the bag, the handles are leather, and it’s lined.
i would love to see a review on the furla opportunity tote!!
Furla are so well made
I would love for sophie to try furla bags!
@@missymaddie3518 same here!
I use my Neverfull MM all the time as a mom of 3, who has to hold snacks and everyone’s devices along with my essentials. Also fits my planner. I have an insert bought from Amazon and it zips and keeps everything secure and organized. Also keeps the shape.
Neverfull- yuck
I like the look of the DIOR tote as well
Aww sorry that you feel the Dior Book Tote is cheap. I do agree the price has become ridiculous and likely wouldn’t buy another one but I don’t regret my red jouy one at all! It might also depend what print you get as well. I’d practically opt for all the intricate Jouy and Star prints. I always have passerby admirers when I use it
Hello lovely! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE mine but I wouldn’t pay over £2k for it 😞 but, everyone must do what feels right to them 🙏🙏 Hugs to you xx😘😘
P.s love your profile pic!🐰
Cat.
@@forever-rosebud Sliced bag! 🤣 Have a great week Cat 😘💕
I love the MPA but I don’t usually wear it all together. Usually just the guitar strap and the bags (without the coin purse) and without the chain for a casual look.
@@dianevioletta1408 that is the good thing about the MPA, you can use individual pieces how you like! 🙌🏼
It’s a fun bag but has no business costing what it does now.
Love my Speedy Damier Ebene 25! I used to own the size 30 many years ago, but sold it because it was too big for my needs. The 25 is perfect, and I don't care if it looks dated. I'm a top-handle gal and it's one of my favorite styles.
Not dated at all. That bag is a classic. I just got my first one and love mine.
Agree about the multi pochette. It’s so versatile. I rarely wear them all together.
I have used my Goyard tote for years. The print on the canvas survives rain. Only worn a bit on corners.
I love how real you are and not afraid to share your opinion but you’re always so sensitive and gracious about sharing it
Dear Sophie, I love your Videos because you are so honest.
I originally bought it because every one said you need that bag, when you start your collection…
I love my speedy though.
It is difficult to see all these famous and amazing brands just keep losing their quality further and further…
Love your videos. I have a vintage speedy that is 25 years old and it is amazing quality. Sorry to hear that the bags today are not the same quality.
I’ve worn it more than any other bag I have this past year and don’t have one complaint.❤️❤️❤️
EDIT: As I continued to watch Sophie you actually called it flimsy.
That’s a great idea Joanna, I’m going to screenshot your comment and will work on a vid! Hugs xx
Dear Sophie, I think you are completely right in calling all these bags cheap looking. I would add one more thing: no matter how structured a bag is , when it screams logo everywhere it will always look cheap.I would encourage any classy lady to reconsider becoming a walking advertisement for these companies.
Hahaha!! True for Neverful. But nothing would fit my Laptop. So went for a Neverful with Emprient leather and it’s nice 🤗
Yep
My mom brought one from a thrift shop
Totally agree on the LVs. Good info on the others! Thanks!!💕💕
a great alternative to goyard (and LV neverfull) is faure le page!! their canvas is hand painted but also coated (like LV and unlike goyard) goyard canvas absolutely cannot be used in the rain, but FLP is totally fine
I have LV Alma BB (my first designer bag), which I really enjoy because of its structure and classic look
I don't like Speedy or Neverful
I am making very careful purchases for my wadrobe ,as I just started adding luxury to it
Thank you for these videos
I agree with the neverfull. I have three and I always use an organizer because the sag can look horrible. The structure is what matters on that one!
Great video, Sophie! At least, in the past, those bags were more reasonably priced for what they are, but now, they look cheap but are actually expensive.
Spot on. Every time I see that last LV bag it screams fake even when it isn’t.
Hey Sophie! Could u make a video on what are the best quality bags you have?
I wouldn’t be without my neverfull, lightweight, pliable and my forever travel classic along with my sppedy b25. Had to wait till I was 50 to be able to get my hands on a Chanel and couldn’t cope with the weight once full and changed it for a woc…. I’ll always be a canvas girl 🤩🤩🤩
Hey, Sophie,
I know you’re not the biggest LV fan but I own a clunny bb in the monogram canvas and it’s an amazing bag. The canvas is amazing and the shape of the bag is my favourite.
I always appreciate your honesty. I tend to get slightly offended by you but I know your style is direct. 🤐
Ever since I was in school I never understood the popularity of Neverfull! I didn't realize it was actually a legit LV bag till recently, because my local flea market sold counterfeits all the time!
I feel the same about speedy. The new speedy 20 is structured with extended zipper. I was tempted as I like the size and it doesn’t sag.
You are always on point and especially when it comes to Louis Vuitton.
absolutely agree with you @sophie❤
I love mine- I do purposely fill it so it looks nice. I think its the perfect casual bag!
You are saying exactly what i have always said These companys are laughing because people are paying these prices
I have the neverfull in black empriente leather. It’s so much better than the canvas version I had. I have the Speedy 20. The small size makes it more structured and perfect! The rest of your video is spot on.
Is it heavy compared to the canvas one?
@@KA-jo8vn, I don’t notice much of a weight difference. I love it. It has a better look and feel. It’s just more polished and subtle.
@@melissac4698 lovely thanks for replying! ❤️
