    Now you’re speaking my language! The Lotven cowls all start knitting a flat triangle for a while, and then when it’s big enough for the long edge to go around your neck and over the shoulders you cast on an extra stitch and join the two points together to start knitting in the round. It’s really kind of cool how she does them. I have four or five of these patterns in my stash and they are on my short list of things to cast on because that long triangle in the front can be useful for camouflaging a lot of other things, if you know what I mean. :) Also I do really love that book. I could see myself knitting all five of these. I’m going to go mark all of these patterns into my faves and check them out. Thanks for doing this one.

      Thanks for the info on Lotven's construction. There are several ways to achieve that shape and I guessed wrongly LOL! So glad you liked the selections.

    I think you would love the Lamina Cowl and Wrap pattern by Ambah O'Brien. Done with fingering wt, perfect for mini skeins and a background color

      She definitely does a lot of patterns that work well for mini-skeins. Pretty stuff!

    Barbra will you please design basic Raglan crew neck sweater cropped top sweater tutorial? Most Raglan comes with wide neckline. Thanks so much😊

      Hi! I am so glad you like my patterns but I do not knit or design sweaters so I am not a good person to make a raglan tutorial. And honestly, crew necks are my least favorite neckline to wear so if I were to knit a sweater it would most likely have a v neck!

    Jewish Question - Why Advent sets? Is it just a handy time of year? Or is there something about the observance of that time period that makes a specific knitting project for it more meaningful?

    • @saraeagin4058
      @saraeagin4058 Год назад

      As a Christian I would say it’s the time of year and countdown element… not really any religious ties to the knitting. For many years children have had countdown calendars (chocolate or Bible verses, etc) and in recent years the commercialization has expanded to adult countdown/ advent calendars, and yarn is one of many types available, and many indie dyers just hopped on the opportunity - as it’s more acceptable to buy yourself an advent calendar vs buying yourself your own Christmas gift of yarn (which you’d more likely ask a relative to buy and as we all know, yarn from nonknitters is more about the attempt) so opportunity turned increased yarn sales vs any religious reason.

      @@saraeagin4058 Thanks for taking the time to answer. That's kind of what I suspected, but I didn't want to make assumptions about a faith that wasn't my own.

      Sara had a lovely answer and since I also am not a member of that faith I will defer to her. I just know that there are a lot of knitters who accumulate these multi-mini-skein packs and are looking for patterns for them. I have helped the store I work for develop a holiday "open one a day" sort of offering that we call "8 Festive Nights" LOL!

    Oh, also, thank you for supporting the LGBTQ+ community. I will personally be using this as an excuse to buy another one of your patterns I've been considering. And probably at least one or two on this list. You know, positive reinforcement and all.
