Having a unique bike is key. Got a custom purple and blue ghost flames on my Harley. My dad’s friend painted it on my dads bike his friend has since died. My dad can’t ride no more so it’s mine. I have to get the paint touched up on the tank where the gas cap is but still looks like did when it was first done. I have to replace piston rings and clean the inside of the tank. I’ll Probably ceramic coat it. But it will be back on the road soon.
Moving to California? Damn, that's cool as fuck! If you ever make it up 200 miles past Frisco, to Humboldt County. We have the world famous Avenue of the Giants, redwood trees for miles... And we are the most important part of the Emerald Triangle... Southern Humboldt world famous weed!
By the way, you seem to have enough resources, you could create a bandana or skull cap that actually looks like a half shell helmet? Printed on helmet w/DOT sticker included on the back. If it looks like a helmet, should increase percentage of passing as a helmet! The dot sticker is very important if you want the police to leave you aloan? (The sticker does NOT need to be real.)
Keep 2 actual helmets in your bags at all times. If the man jams you up? They will impound your bike, if you and your passenger can't ride off legally.?
A little game they sometimes play, called... seize your machine, create a ton of red tape, when it goes up on auction? They pay pennies on the dollar.
I try and discourage that as much as possible. I make a point to let them know, their penis will always be small, and they will never be cool! So let it go? Plus, every b*tch that ever rode on back, ended up in my bed? So you might think twice before inviting your wife for a ride? Just saying?

Hey Sose! Thanks for the explanation of the “Get Back Whip”! I’m not a biker… 68 years old and never even rode a bike. I was on the way up I-95 after Bike Week in Daytona, and saw the whips flying off of a lot of bikes. I wondered what they were all about. Since then, I’ve been bingeing your channel. Love your presentation of Biker Culture. I’m certainly not your typical or “core” subscriber… or target audience. But I love what you’re doing. No judgement! Thanks for helping me to understand what your world is all about!

According to everything I've learned about whips, Is that they were intended to be used against dogs, when riding in urban areas. Dogs are known to chase motorcycles, the whip is in case they catch you at the stop sign.
I grew up in the bronx never had i seen a dog chase a bike but im sure someone wrote that lol

I get chased by dogs a lot. I personally haven't even kicked one, I definitely wouldn't whip one unless it bit me.

That’s like me waiting to pull my gun on someone after I’ve already been shot even though his gun was already pointed at me (or others). I’m no cop but I live in Texas and a military vet. Assess threat and respond accordingly. Don’t wait until you are unable to respond accordingly, that’s all I’m saying. I love dogs and I’m still saying this. Aside from that, keep the shiny side up
Got a weighted one gifted to me in the 80's. Another use for them is as a "speedometer" the faster you go the more level it is for those bikes with no gauges.

I actually carry a bandana strung through a heavy padlock..! If pulled over just pulled the bandana out become separated from the padlock... You can carry it in your back pocket with the bandana hanging out. ..BTW nice to see you cruising through Connecticut!

We were pulled over in Colorado for a getback whip and doing 90 in a pack with my club brothers 🤣🤣🤣 Of course they had to call backup ( I heard the cops saying we gonna need backup asap for 20 gang members. Ha ha what a joke

Hey Sose! I had the yellow and black flying on my bike. It had the monkey grip on the down end. On a ride, unknowingly to me it jammed into my foot shifter. When I downshifted it pulled my bars to the left. And almost spoiled the ride..

#Ghostin Never had a get back whip. One of the old cats I worked on cars with told me about the ball bearings and how he would throw them at people that would get close to him or cut him off. So I kept some of those in my vest pocket. Next bike I’m definitely gettin a whip though. Respect Ghost. Stay safe.

My uncle would always keep glass marbles inside a M&M pack incase someone was driving too close to him. Rip it open and toss them back over your shoulder and they would hit the bumper and hopefully their windshield.
@@MrNick- correct sir, it's what we always used to do and still do. Sometimes shit accidentally falls out of your pocket from your kids, or the ball bearings from your bike or from working on your bike. Purely accidental when it happens....
I live in NorCal...been flying a whip for about 10 years . Had lots of Cali Cops see it when riding down the road, at a run, or just parked and they did a drive by. I've never been approach or hassled about it hanging from my clutch lever.

Bro, I highly recommend you get a full-face helmet if you move to Cali. People drive crazy out here, 405, 105, 10, and the 99 are out of control. You will get use to it.

No Helmet required in Connecticut... Back in the 60s they passed the helmet law.. only for a few years then it got repealed thank God! Even though we don't have a helmet law I still Rock a half lid... Definitely save me from a concussion and possible fractured skull recently... During an accident... Still rocking the half lid.. and when it gets real cold out I wear a open face LS2 verso.. has vents at the bottom of the plastic shield to prevent fogging up...

I don't care what anyone else does, but if you look at where people get injured in bike accidents the mouth and jaw are common impact areas. So I wear a full face, even though in my state I don't have to, because even a slow speed wreck if you hit your face un-protected it's going to really suck. But if you're a grown adult it's none of my business or the states. It's funny because Cali used to be the other way around. They had no helmet law and most of the east coast had them. Over the years it has flipped the exact opposite way.

I use a mini-whip but it looks good on my mini sportster 48. Try to wear that lid. In April of 2021, a brother not paying attention cut me off making a wrong turn in East NY, Blkyn and I fell off my bike at less than 20 mph. Never mind the damage to my bike and elbow and knee... but I landed on the pavement and hit my head sideways. A small thump, but enough to get a concussion or skull fracture. The mini helmet was cushioned and saved my life at such a slow speed. My D.O.T. Approved lid has a small crack and scratches proving that the impact was dangerous. Thank God I didn't feel pain. It just felt like going head to head in football. Be careful when riding in NYC, I know of 2 police common checkpoints where they stop motorcycles. I've seen many get ticketed, their bikes impounded, and some get arrested. The 3rd Avenue Bridge going from the Bronx to Manhattan (Harlem) has a check point once you get to the Manhattan side. The Williamsburg Bridge approaching Manhattan on Delancey Street. Cops are not always there but give or take a few days of the week randomly from early in the morning till late afternoon, you can guarantee that their will be one. Careful, and if all.. try to avoid these crossings.

STG : the get back whip *I see a few ways & reasons for it* in fact it could be just like a chain or car warning etc , tell you my personal perception of it & why I'm not likely to use it : some people are dumb as shit , but I wouldn't temp my luck with a tree limb hanging down (the way you use it , it compliments your setup so I'm for it as long as it's safe for you to ride with it, that's what matters ) I see it a little like an upper foot rest *so if the upperfootrest is sticking out wide & I'm needing maneuverability I don't want my foot pegs out where I can't hang 10 you know?* do feel like you asked a general opinion and for highway cruising you do good sporting the class 😉 (wouldn't want to get snatched off by some jacks bumper or brushguard either) be safe bro #Ghostin

I remember once riding around a small remote lake in rural area. The road I thought would take me around the whole lake came to a Dead End. When suddenly, a large vicious dog with fangs bared and a loud menacing growl darted at me out of nowhere and lunged at me. As I panicked, and before I could do anything, I dropped my bike.
In my frustration and anger, and as I'm on the ground, I immediately began looking up for this crazed beast as I was ready to inflict fist to face damage to this animal or he to me. Only to find this dog had vanished into thin air. Damn, I was angry at that FXXXCKN dog!
Why am I sharing this story? I was hesitant to have a get back whip until I remembered this dog incident. The incident happened so fast I may not have even had time to grab the get back whip had I been carrying one.
But I do now have a get back whip on my motorcycle and if Fido comes to attack me and I don't have the means to speed off he's going to get the tail end of that whip snapped right in his face.
I love dogs, but don't tolerate canines that want to take a bite out of me.

I'm up here in upstate ny ,I have been examining the law on which one might be considered illegal, I also work in syracuse, and your straight forward dude, if I were to get one as a guy who just rides and likes the look of them, and had to go threw some not so friendly neighborhoods do you forsee a potential problem with a mc, I'm thinking just all black to match my bike and leathers
I'm With you, i Fly a Getback Whip, but it's just for looks, when i was in a Club my whip was club colors, now retired from the clubs my whips are as close to the color of my bikes as i can find.

@@SoseTheGhost My wife would like if i did too, i normally don't keep bikes long since 2008 i've owned 12, and each one a different getback whip and i also do the Iron Braids on the levers, and my buddies all give me crap that after i Iron braid it i sell it and buy a new bike LOL, but my 1st big twin in 1977 was an FXS lowrider, i have owned 4 others since, then a whole bunch of different rides, last October i bought a leftover Lowrider, and at my age it might be my last bike, so 1 more whip and 1 more Iron Braid, the wife will understand (i hope LOL)

I rock a 36" get back whip... when people ask me what that's for I tell em, you saw the biker, it's an attention getter, cages notice me and give me the room they should...same goes for a black and white leather feather I have on my vest flashing in the wind...another 'be seen' effect and part of my style.
My uncle rides with the pagans and he had 2 get backs. He had the all leather for cars that were being assholes and he had one he called th "bitch be good" whip for self defense. It had a 8 ball on the end.

I use chain back up whips so I’m not singled out with a colors cause I’m not in a club and want my bike to have a swag. They don’t really rock them in Atlanta and I love the look.

The last road rage incident for me a guy in front of me was hugging the yellow line so I kept taking the white line so I can clear the view around him... then he would hug the white line so I would take the yellow... this went on until it was safe to pass him... well it pissed him off so he followed me to the gas station and he parked on the other side of the store and I saw him coming around the corner to my pump so I stepped up with my get back whip around my neck like u had it... it's all I could grab at the time... this dude was huge. But after i explained why I was riding that way he understood and we shook hands.

Hey man thanks for the info, I've always liked the look of a whip, I've actually got the same one as you in the video I'm sure, 48 all black quick release with a lil skull on one whip string. Was never sure if I was allowed being a new and solo rider, put it on last year, glad there's no issue with rocking one myself. Peace keep up the videos theyre great.

I know this is two years later, but as someone who is about to go to class and has her eyes on her prize bike, I was thinking about adding one and was not sure what they were called. I have seen them many times on the highway as bike pass me by. Here are the reason why I was going to do so. Tell me if I am wrong.
Identification of my bike. I want a pink and white one, and I could make my own short one which could be bad it if is too short which would definitely change the name. (shhhh). Maybe it is a girl thing from bicycle to motorbike now.
Shrug... who knows, I just know that the all black bike is going to drive me crazy, and I want to make it uniquely mine.

I rocked a get back whip for awhile until it was confiscated by local PD they are legal in cali just has to be nothing but rope no steel balls or bearings at the end of the rope
