    So, apparently he filmed this movie in five to six days and it shows. He filmed Acrimony in EIGHT days.
    The main issue is not that Tyler Perry can't write. He's become rich by making trash movies with repetitive themes and stories and his core audiences devour it like no tomorrow.
    And what is this fascination with wigs?! Bad ones at that.

    This looked like it would be a pretty decent film, at least from the trailer. Thanks for the heads-up not to waste my time with it. It looked like a good premise, but from what you say; they wasted their efforts. I haven't seen many Tyler Perry movies, so I don't have any recommendations to give, I'm afraid. (By the way - you deserve a much larger audience. Is this stupid RUclips algorithms, or what? I always look forward to your reviews - you don't shout or act juvenile in either your language or attitude, nor do you come off as some pretentious film critic. Just got finished watching this, this morning. It had me the whole time 😱😱🤬😲 the way that Shannon was treating Grace after they got married. Omg and that attorney she was gosh awful at first . It was really intense at times and it was good. I like Crystal Fox and of course my favorite Cicely Tyson( even though her role was small). Tyler Perry has been falling off a little far as writing. He’s been doing a lot of these belittling lowering standards) women shows types. I just watched this cause of Crystal Fox and Cicely Tyson .

    Love Crystal Fox, her performance was believable.
    Bresha Webb- NO!

  • @Allhoney33

    Not sure if this is true, but I heard Tyler Perry filmed this in 5 days! If it's true, then that's absolutely ridiculous. Movies that are filmed in the course of a year have lots of errors in them, so boy you're asking for it if you're only filming in 5 days!
    One thing that threw me off was the dark blue filter during the prison interview scenes and court scenes. I kinda understand what he was trying to convey but with this sort of drama, that doesn't work.
    Dark filters are good for horror movies, doomsday movies, dark action movies, Tim Burton movies and dark dramas like The Joker.
    The Joker is a mentally disturbed, insane character with a dark past, so a dark filter is appropriate. Grace is a mentally sane and stable woman, so there was no need for the dark filter. It makes the movie a bit distracting. There were scenes that made me go.....I can't see! That shouldn't be happening with a movie like this.
    I think what Tyler was trying to is something that Stanley Kubrick is the master of. Using color manipulation to narrate his movies. This works wonderfully when you've got a great script, great cinematography and good character direction.
    I do enjoy many of Tyler Perry's movies. (I admit I was a Lifetime movie junkie back when Lifetime was good in my opinion...1990s through the early 2000s). I like that he often casts older actresses who get pushed aside because they've entered the Golden years of their life. I think this will be good for his brand.
    I know the guy has great movie ideas. I can tell he's quite imaginative and with some advanced writing training, education etc, he could better learn to execute his ideas. I remember the best advice I got from a mock job interview just before graduating college......The interviewer told me, I had a really good job history. (I was one of those poor souls who had to work their way through college), I had acquired some great training and skills, however I didn't know how to market myself and put everything in one accord to make it work. Basically, I didn't know how to sell myself to the critics.
    I think Tyler suffers from this. With a team of balanced critics, I think he'd be surprised how far this would take him.
    Sorry this became an essay. My words got away from me. Enjoyed your balanced and awesome review. You got a new subscriber!

      @MoviesAndMunchies  4 года назад +1

      I love this! Thank you! I've heard from several others also that he did indeed film in 5 days...just crazy! I like your idea of him having a team who can really work with him and his ideas to really flesh them out and make them realize their full potential. You can see this story has potential...but just didn't see it through.

    • @Allhoney33
      @Allhoney33 4 года назад

      @@MoviesAndMunchies Right! I totally sympathize with him not wanting or liking criticism. I'm sure this is linked to his abusive childhood and I know that's got to be very tough to resolve on a psychological level. Heck, even people who come from stable backgrounds don't like to be criticized, but since he's putting his brand out there for the public to observe, he's got to understand criticism comes with the territory. That's why I think he would benefit from a panel of balanced critics who offer both positive and negative feedback.
      I'm a firm believer in the swinging pendulum. There's always gonna be opposing sides and there will always be a middle ground. So certainly there will always be positives in his work to counter those negatives and vice versa. There will always be an audience that dislikes his work, an audience that likes his work and an audience that's neutral and so forth.
      I think if Tyler understood this concept he would know the best constructive critics are those in the neutral zone. These are the people you really shouldn't be afraid to hear from. These are the people that can somewhat warm you up to the harshest critics. Yet, he appears to get defensive of even the smallest amount of criticism.
      If lay audiences are picking up on errors that shouldn't be occurring at this stage in his directing career, something is wrong and he need not be afraid to listen. I'm not talking about wigs or any of that stuff. I consider that pretty minuscule, but things like drinking wine in a diner. Shooting a dinner scene from an odd low angle. The constant shaky cam throughout the entire movie, an officer leaving handcuffed criminals unattended etc.
      Not sure if Tyler has a phobia of losing his audience or what but even if he continues to appeal to a specific demographic, there should be no reason for valuing quantity over quality. You take David Lynch and Rob Zombie, they'll always have an audience for their brand but they aren't prioritizing quantity over quality...... Wow, I just really said that about Rob Zombie's movies! I think you get what I'm trying to say.
      You've offered the best criticism I've seen so far and I really hope Tyler watches this. Not everyone is the big bad boogyman ready to rip him apart. There are critics like you who see the potential and offer excellent feedback for improvement.
      And once again I wrote an essay. My apologies!

    I’d suggest Boo!! I know it’s predictable, some bad acting but Hattie is too funny. If you go in not having high expectations or even watch it like it’s Scary Movie or Not Another Teenage.....

    Watching this movie. Was wondering if the movie was based on real events. Guess it is not. Every since the Democrats came into office and started the racism between blacks and white plus the actors were so racist I refused to watch black movies. I am hoping that we as Americans are coming together again whatever race whatever color. This whole racism could tear whole families apart. My father was black German but you wouldn't know it by looking at me. My youngest son's father is black Jamaican but you wouldn't know it by looking at him. They think he is Hawaiian. LOL. We just had another barbeque for Easter & I asked if he wants to invite friends over. They all started to come. He always did have a colorful friend group. They started coming to him because they knew people respect him including the principals (they told me they respected my son)plus they would not be bullied. So he had a lot of friends and they keep coming. There is a range of ages, race, and skin colors from black to brown and every color in-between. Thankfully here in Alaska we do not tolerate racism. I do not tolerate racism. Reason I boycott those who are in the acting industry. If they hate my skin color then why pay to watch their movies? Seriously though you'll need to look past the superficial and look at what's important in friendship, in neighbors, and co workers. 😱

    I'm subscribing you were so spot on with all of your critiques. You failed to mention a number of failures with this film but perhaps you were being generous

      Thanks! I try to balance out the good and bad...sometimes I highlight more of the bad, but I really wanted to like this because it had potential and I enjoyed some of the actors.

    The only Tyler Perry movies worth watching is The Family That Preys and Why Did I Get Married. Other than that it is not high brow entertainment and it's really a cut and paste formula he sticks to for his audience who's satisfied with his "work ethic" 🙄🙄

    Family That Preys is a good TP film. Why Did I Get Married is my favorite. But it's a preference of mine because of the topic. Lol.

    The guys on Double Toasted and the gal on Pay or Wait had me cracking up. Black Twitter is dragging the wigs all over the internet. Apparently it was filmed in five days. Yep. Five Days. If you can check out the Double Toasted review video, check it out. It'll leave you laughing. i'd say the best would be Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It was the first to give us Medea and it contains all the tropes of Tyler Perry movies that you will see in all his other movies. It's got some slow pacing at times but i think it's the best of the lot.

    This is an instant movie from the Tyler Perry film factory. Lower expectations. He repeatedly says he knows his audience. They should be insulted.
