Rooney Mara is brilliant! All the research and the work she put in this movie really shows. I think she should have won the academy award. Meryl Streep has enough fame. Rooney went through so many changes and emotional trips in the movie and she completely deserves the award.
I saw the movie first (just a couple of months ago) and loved it. Just finished reading the book. An awesome read. I don't think you'll be disappointed having seen the movie first. You'll just replay the movie in your head while reading. I really like the author's writing style. Just started reading book #2, which starts about a year after the girl with the dragon tatoo ends. I recommend getting all three books and the entire series. Enjoy!
When I read "the Girl who played with Fire" and "the Girl who kicked the hornets nest", Rooney Mara was always the Lisbeth I pictured. She is fantastic!
I loved her performance, her accent, really disappointed hollywood didn’t do their version of the other two sequels and didn’t cast her in Spider’s Web in 2018?
I found this much better than the original adaptation. There were a bit of plot holes in the original movie like: how millennium survived without Mikael present, how Lisbeth was spying on her rapist and who shot Mikael in the woods. The American remake answered all of those questions and then some in addition to Craig's performance as Mikael which was much better than the actor's before and Rooney's portrayal of Lisbeth which surpassed Noomi's by every aspect.
I loved Rooney Mara as Lisbeth, and I loved Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth as well! Both of them did a great job, but this version of the movie was awesome! I can't wait for the sequel!!!
The new Lisbeth will be Claire Foy ("The Crown") in the sequel movie "The Girl in the Spider's Web". Sad, I totally love Rooney Mara as Lisbeth. More info here: variety. com/2017/film/news/claire-foy-girl-in-the-spiders-web-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo-1202560220/
Rooney Mara is a babe. Honestly, she rocks whatever she does, she's an insane actress, and she even sounds like Lisbeth Salander when she's not acting as her. That must show some of the dedication she put into the role. Meryl Streep deserved her Oscar, but so did Rooney. Fantastic she got a nomination from a bunch of white-collared old Caucasian men. That's enough to say that even with all the crazy piercings and the brutal scenes, she still made a huge impact. And that's fucking awesome.
I recently watched the sweedish version I thought it was good, but I just wasent as immersed as I was with Finchers version, I guess its just personal prefference. Im a huge film fan but I dont think I'v ever been so crazy about a film :)
She is hot and I promptly added her to the TOP of my mental list of girl-crushes, which include Natalie Portman, Gemma Arterton, Rachel McAdams, and Miranda Kerr. In fact even after watching Social Network, there was something about Rooney that I loved! She is far from looking "homely" as a lot of people seem to claim.
With the exception of the ending (which was just slightly changed to keep people guessing a bit) Fincher's Dragon Tattoo was closer to the novel. Just read the description of Salander and you can see how Mara fills the role perfectly. Rapace was great, but her physicality didn't really sync with the novel's description of Lisbeth. Both are good, but I prefer Fincher's, To each their own.
here's a good question: why can't people just accept that both Rooney and Noomi both do a lovely job of portraying Lisbeth and stop worrying about arguing incessantly?
honestly, I think Noomi had the right "look" for Lisbeth Salander, but Rooney's performance as Lisbeth was completely different because there were more details added to her role that weren't incorporated into Noomi Rapace. Like the last scene in the movie when she gets Mikael a christmas gift... That showed a different side of Lisbeth. A vulnerability that wasn't there in the original 'GWTDT'.
@Corvus887 The only flaw in your statement is that the swedish film, at least the first, WASN'T truer to the book; fincher's version was. And as far as the swedish film having "more content", i don't really understand how that's possible when it was pretty much a hacked up, abbreviated version of the novel. On a side note: I have nothing against the swedish version, but it wasn't as groundbreaking as everyone claims it was. Those people are just trying to be hip.
yeah i don't really care which one is better, i saw both (original and adaptation), i love both version, now just wait for the adaptation of the 2nd and 3rd originals.
Yeah, well I think it's better. I think the Swedish versions of things are usually better. I don't know if you have seen Wallander, but that has an English version series and a swedish version and the Swedish is better. I think it is partly that it feels more real with everything in Swedish.
@vinex19 i actually liked this one much better than the swedish one dont know why, but it felt more faithful to the book (surprisingly so, seeing as its not being spoken in swedish haha)
I'm pretty sure the sequel is "good to go". "Dragon Tattoo" did well financially around the world (currently at about $211 million worldwide gross on a $90 million budget). Bring it on!
Because they cannot accept the fact that for once a Hollywood remake was actually much better than the original :) And i am not a Hollywood fan, usually the remakes made there are horrible. But this is a gem.
I hate when people argue that the Sweish films are better because they were "truer to the book." Yes, they were, but the whole point of adapting a book to a film is to change what you can to make it better, not copy it exactly. For me, it's a toss up between the two films. I just can't decide which I like more. Way more artistry is the American, way more content in the Swedish. Guess I'll just have to like the whole franchise.....
This was a response to "Some people are just naturally really small... ...not everyone is a fat ass". I wasn't talking about the actress in this movie, I concur that she isn't sickly skinny.
She's kinda cute. Also, at the Academy Awards, I thought she looked like a princess. It's funny, when I told people that my new celebrity crush was Rooney Mara, they asked, "Who's that?" When I told them it was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, they all said "...Really? She looks terrifying." You see, I'm the "nice guy" if you would, so I can see why people found that surprising.
@IcyasIce nope, the american version follows the book better, Noomi is a great actress but she didn't look as an anorexic thin, who deceivingly seems vulnerable, who would wake up Armansky and Blomksvit protectiveness, who would seem like the perfect victim to Bjurman and who would gain a Pippin Longstocking nickname. Plus Blomksvit's daughter and other eventes were take out.
i agree that the titles make more sense to use it for an attention grabbing-thing. "Let the Right one in" kind of confuses me and "let me in" just really get's the meaning across better. also, it's not called "men who hate women" because it would automaticallycause a whole group of people to not want to see it, because essentially the book is a feminist book.
ha, i thought exactly the same. Beautiful girl, but she and her answers are pretty boring. (I'll take that fire from you)... Noomi Rapace, on the other hand -wink wink- Is just gorgeous in every way. Certainly each to their own though. I tried the remake first and it wouldn't keep my attention past about 20 minutes, after Prometheus i decided to try the Swedish version and i loved the entire trilogy!
Are these two even in the same room. I don't think he really interviewed her. It looks very edited with specific questions he is to ask, but she has already video recorded her specific answers to those questions and they make the interview go back and forth. They do this with popular artists on radio all the time....play pre-recorded interviews with the right questions to ask on the album so that the listener thinks the interview is live.....But it's NOT!!! Well done!
It's a damn shame their not making the next chapter, at least with the same director and actress
Rooney is so cute. I love her dimples whenever she smiles.
She did an amazing job.
I admire rooney so much
She beaaautifully played the role
3 years late but Cudster gang for life
Rooney Mara RULES....I love her
She's just an PERFECT actress !
Rooney Mara is brilliant! All the research and the work she put in this movie really shows. I think she should have won the academy award. Meryl Streep has enough fame. Rooney went through so many changes and emotional trips in the movie and she completely deserves the award.

she's the best actress of her generation
When I read "the Girl who played with Fire" and "the Girl who kicked the hornets nest", Rooney Mara was always the Lisbeth I pictured. She is fantastic!
Rooney Mara inspired me a lot to be an independent in this movie. I was really carried away by her role as Lisbeth Salander, she's the best.
She seems so lovely and classy!
she has a lisbeth aura about her
I loved Rooney mara in this! She fit exactly the way I imagined Lisbeth
Those cheeks.
Haters are gonna be haters.. personally i think she did an awesome job,
I love her! Her performance was amazing in the movie, it was a very fantastic film! And I hope they make The Girl Who Played With Fire
Please come out with the sequel as soon as possible!!!
I'm in love with all three: Fincher's film, Mara's relentless performance and well Rooney Mara.
I haven't been That blown away by a film and a performance in a VERY long time !! FUCKING AMAZING !!!! xoxo
I love her hair
she is so pretty ♥ lovely lovely actress
I love her, I love her, I love her!
one of the most straight forward interview with her! :)
I loved her performance, her accent, really disappointed hollywood didn’t do their version of the other two sequels and didn’t cast her in Spider’s Web in 2018?
I enjoy her character better than real persona. I like crazy and the character was full of it.
She is one of best actresses in this world♥
great film..wasnt expecting it to b as good as it was..
I found this much better than the original adaptation. There were a bit of plot holes in the original movie like: how millennium survived without Mikael present, how Lisbeth was spying on her rapist and who shot Mikael in the woods. currently my favorite movie because of her.
I LOVE HER OUTFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved Rooney Mara as Lisbeth, and I loved Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth as well! Both of them did a great job, but this version of the movie was awesome! I can't wait for the sequel!!!
Mara is the real Lisbeth Salander.. Hope she'll be back in the sequel not Alicia Vikander.
if there's ever going to be a hollywood sequel
@John Dou it's now on process and fede alvarez will direct the sequel.
Mills J source?
The new Lisbeth will be Claire Foy ("The Crown") in the sequel movie "The Girl in the Spider's Web". Sad, I totally love Rooney Mara as Lisbeth.

Wow, what a film! The Enya - Sail Away scene will haunt me forever
shes beautiful
Yes, I agree - I haven't been blown away by a film for a long time - Rooney Mara is AMAZING !!!
Such a great actress really admire her
Great Interview!
Great interview.
I just love her laugh :)
a real actor/actress can pull off ANY character.... thnk god for actors like Rooney Mara it can be proved.
The faces she makes in this interview :3
She seems like more open and talkative to interviewers who are more calm and down to earth & aren't really out there.
Rooney Mara is a babe. Honestly, she rocks whatever she does, she's an insane actress, and she even sounds like Lisbeth Salander when she's not acting as her. That must show some of the dedication she put into the role.

she did an amazing job. no questions asked.
she looks a lottttt better in the movie
@bistnenutte
This is separate adaptation of the book, not a remake. Sweden did make 3 movies two years ago. All four movies are worth seeing.
With the exception of the ending (which was just slightly changed to keep people guessing a bit) Fincher's Dragon Tattoo was closer to the novel. Just read the description of Salander and you can see how Mara fills the role perfectly. Rapace was great, but her physicality didn't really sync with the novel's description of Lisbeth. ok, now i really would like Mara to be a Bond girl once. lol! it would be very interesting to see her and Craig in a james bond movie together again!
here's a good question: why can't people just accept that both Rooney and Noomi both do a lovely job of portraying Lisbeth and stop worrying about arguing incessantly?
If you have read the books and seen the swedish movies, the originals was actually more related to the books and Lisbeth as well..
rooney mara was awesome!
Great movie. The hardest part for me to watch was the rape scene. But i do love how she paid her rapist back!!!
I think you cant really compare both versions, they're so different.
she is gorgeous and was AMAZING in the movie, saw this one and the originial, great movies :)
my top 3 movies of all time, because of her and Daniel Craig.
Amazing performance, oscar level.
honestly, I think Noomi had the right "look" for Lisbeth Salander, but Rooney's performance as Lisbeth was completely different because there were more details added to her role that weren't incorporated into Noomi Rapace. Like the last scene in the movie when she gets Mikael a christmas gift... That showed a different side of Lisbeth. A vulnerability that wasn't there in the original 'GWTDT'.
No, the Swedish movie adaption actually differs a lot more from the book than the American version does.

@AmadeusExcello can you send me the link to that please?
she is really beautiful, wow !!!!!! really CUTE, I like her more, than the film
She was the reason to travel to Stockholm, a wonderful capital city,
This man is maintaining 100% eye contact.
yeah i don't really care which one is better, i saw both (original and adaptation), i love both version, now just wait for the adaptation of the 2nd and 3rd originals.
@mare5able i watched the swedish version but imo the american one is way more impressive. just watch the opening, it's amazing. my jaw dropped
Yeah, well I think it's better. I think the Swedish versions of things are usually better. I don't know if you have seen Wallander, but that has an English version series and a swedish version and the Swedish is better. I think it is partly that it feels more real with everything in Swedish.

does anybody know if theyre gonna make the sequels?
@anasdogar She was never a lesbian. IF you read the book she says she doesn't use labels like straight gay les bi etc.
Noomi Rapace is still a great actress. She was amazing in Prometheus.
hellish, what a loyal performance !
she really kicks ass >.
They haven't made it yet. You're thinking of the Swedish film.
Because they cannot accept the fact that for once a Hollywood remake was actually much better than the original :) And i am not a Hollywood fan, usually the remakes made there are horrible. But this is a gem.
She was fucking amazing in this film. She stole every scene she was in.
I hate when people argue that the Sweish films are better because they were "truer to the book." Yes yes yes same here I imagined her too GOD SHE'S SO PRETTY
@pickupartistwannabe
there will be for sure... for the 2 next parts
@PeaceFan1 Me too, last time was Heath Ledger as the Joker.
The Swedish one is better, because there are some things American movies can't show. The Swedish ones are grittier and Noomi Rapace was amazing!
Love this actrice, did a good job in the movie!
I haven't seen this movie yet.... but it seems great:)
She is so beautyful!
i want her hair. It's so shiny!
Amazing performance. Bravo

She did a great job and she is beautiful.
@PeaceFan1 you obviously haven't seen the original
They will. The actors are signed up for the whole trilogy
