I am annoyed by this mentality of people nowadays that call every marvel female character "great female roles" just because they are presented as the "bad ass" as if only those type of roles were the good female roles, c'mon. A great female role can be anything or about anyone not just the bad ass.
Enrique Godinez I didn't like the female character in this movie. Think she needed more character development other than "my mom 'died' when I was 7 and daddy didn't give me attention". Can we not have the parent issues for every character? I know it's based off of comics but still it gets old real fast
Enrique Godinez THANK YOU. It's like the only way for a female role to be "good" is if they effectively write a role for a man and cast a woman instead. I remember Alonso said he didn't like the fact that 3 out of 4 women in the Jurassic World movie were crying - as if that somehow automatically makes them a bad character and negates everything else they do in the movie. I think the notion that the female "badass" is the only way a woman can be well-written is in itself a misogynistic way of thinking.
Don Quixote Exactly! Is the same when a female character likes girly things people automatically make that as something "weak" oh no she has to be masculine and beat the shit out of everyone, sigh.
+Don Quixote you completely missed Alonso's point on Jurassic World, when there's only 4 female characters in your movie and all of them are portrayed as weak and fragile while all the men are portrayed as emotionally stable and perfectly capable, that's a problem and it's borderline sexist. if you don't like hearing it then tough shit, it's the truth.
FriedEagleMind That's what I'm calling sexist. Just because they cried doesn't mean they're emotionally unstable, nor does it make them weak. And like I said, it doesn't negate any of the other things they do in the movie. If you hadn't noticed, Bryce Dallas Howard played a pretty fucking integral and pivotal role in the movie. She's not a soldier, so I don't know why it's so terrible that she cried once.
This was one of marvels better movies. the jokes are actually funny and don't feel forced. Also the action and special effects are very creative and fun. I actually left the theater happy. I enjoyed this much more than iron man 3, thor 2, and avengers 2.
DSDGFYHJ154 ....better marvel movies? If you think this is better than something like winter soldier or days of future past you are out of your mind. This is like thor the dark world quality.
You don't watch a lot of movies do you? This movie was mind numbingly mediocre. NOTHING about it was unique. You people are CA-RAZY! This movie is great! Michael Pena was hilarious. Lily was kicked ass! Can't wait to see her in Captain America:Civil War and/or Avengers 3.
Well....that's a bummer. I'm feeling like Marvel is losing some steam, especially now that DC has absolutely blown people away with the one-two punch of the Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad trailers, which were both INCREDIBLE. Even Avengers 2 slightly underperformed...I know, I know, it's ridiculous to call $470 million domestic/$1.4 billion worldwide disappointing, but based on predictions, it DID underperform. And now Ant-Man might be the first Marvel movie to NOT debut at #1 with Minions still going strong into the weekend. I'm hoping Marvel isn't losing its mojo, because I'm still a big fan, but it's starting feel like fatigue is setting in. Oh, and Marvel NEEDS to do something about its weak-ass villains. Aside from Loki, and maybe Red Skull and the Winter Soldier (who wasn't even the primary villain), there hasn't been one damn memorable villain in all their films.
78% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Of all the reviews I haven't seen anyone rip the film apart like these guys. But if their taste matches yours then so be it.
bharris3 I saw the movie. It was so much fun. And everyone laughed at Michael Pena in the theater. These guys are low. And the action stuff was fun. And it was funny. The two fat guys on the panel suck.
bharris3 I agreed with their review. I didnt think this movie was anything special. A fun movie, but ultimately just an average superhero movie when it's all said and done. The Wasp is the weakest villain in the MCU.
I absolutely agree with this review. It was a fun movie, but it just missed the mark. Some fun parts, but some of the jokes did slightly miss the points and the acting was a little poor at times. But overall it was a fun movie which adds to the MCU. But its definitely no guardians of the galaxy, just not enough character or depth to the movie (6.5/7-10)
I totally disagree with Alonso. I thought Rudd carried the film quite well, and refreshing to see him play it just a little more straight and was a lot more charismatic with more quippy lines than Pratt in Jurassic Crap. I will agree there are some disjointed and dull moments, but once it started it was just pure enjoyment. I had a lot of fun. 7/10
I'm like the opposite of you guys - I went into the movie with low expectations (I mean, I didn't think it was going to suck, but I didn't think it was going to be exceptional either), but I was really pleasantly surprised by it. I certainly enjoyed it a lot. I also didn't think the references/cameos to/from other Marvel movies seemed shoehorned in and they didn't take away anything from the movie itself (for me personally).
***** But they're also more stuck in their ways and out of touch with what's popular. I can't tell how many times I've seen 50 year-old white guy reviewers simply give a superhero film a bad review because they want "these superhero films to stop".
***** I usually agree with him. I had not planned on seeing this, even though I love Paul Rudd. I think I'm going to stick with my gut. The comments on Evangeline Lily sealed the deal. I'm still recovering from her character in The Hobbit movies.
Why is Christy always going into detail about her kid in fear and panicking over PG-13 stuff? God forbid he sees a horror movie by time he's 21. Then he's really fucked. It's a superhero movie. C'mon. I knew MIB was a non sense fun alien movie when I was 4, but also scared of horror movies. Kids aren't that naive.
***** Well it's not just kids, it's adults to if you have a lick of a soul. I did. I know what she's saying, I'm just saying it's very minuscule in a child's mind like the ant-man movie or when she goes into detail about peril in other kid movies. It's not like it's Chucky or the exorcism which willl fuck a kid up. Most anyway.
***** I can see how a kid will get disturbed and stuff. But I'm just saying they're not gonna lose sleep. Most kids, one kid isn't the spokesman for all. My little brother and cousin been laughing and loving horror movies since they were babies and till this day I can't watch the stuff that won't even bother them.
***** god forbid they actually experience emotions when watching a movie. Every movie that kids love (if you ask them) is some movie which made them feels different emotions. They aren't idiotic fragile little crybabies. They are OK with being scared sometimes, or shocked. Hell, my favorite movie for ayears (when I was little) was independance day. I had nightmares about that movie (the alien part) many times, but I still loved the hell out of it. If a kid gets scared or tearyeyed, that isn't automatically a bad thing. They have experienced something new, and that's good. Stop trying to make your child a sheltered robot.
ThePeteralonzo83 I strongly disagree. I loved her in this movie. I can't remember the last time I disagreed with Alonso more than this movie. I LOVED this movie. It's probably my second favorite of the MCU. Winter Soldier is still my favorite, but this is a close 2nd. Followed by another movie that received a mixed reception, Iron Man 3. But I disagree so much of what Alonso said. I don't think Paul Rudd was bland at all. He was great. Very appealing. Loved Evangeline. Loved her chemistry with both Rudd and Michael Douglas. The scene where she learns the truth about her mother was incredibly moving. I just loved, loved, loved this movie! Really took me by surprise.
Maybe nothing. I just watched a long interview with her a while back and didn't get a nice impression of her personality. She seemed a little self-important.
ThePeteralonzo83 I agree, Evangeline acting in here was cringe worthy most of the time. It also does not help that, overall, her character was kind of useless in the film apart from being a generic female having a love flick with the main hero.
I feel like yall should stop reviewing movies bc everyone seems to hate on every movie... A 5? Opinion. Yes. But maybe not an actual opinion. I feel as if all of these movie Critics see these movies and think Yes, but 30 mins later to be different and Stylistic, it becomes a No.
Cody case Well most movies get both good and bad reviews. Pretty common actually. And these Guys are 40 something year olds. They don't look at it the same way as 20 year olds, which i'm guessing you're referring too.
Cody case 2 of the critics on the panel liked the movie. clearly you missed that. did you also miss the Avengers 2 review where most of the critics liked it? or are you just being a lazy fuck and commenting "wahh wahh critics hate everything" because you have nothing better to do? i think it's that. stop bitching about negative reviews for a movie you haven't even seen
ribbit and stop complaining about something that Ur not sure about.... All I'm saying is that you see their TV show reviews and they have a lot more fun with these, but they don't like alot of movies Like Jurassic World, which the Majority of people liked....
3dartistguy The problem I have with that explanation is that we never get to know Stole's character prior so there is no transformation. He is just a murderous psycho from beginning to the end.
It is a unique movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because it is a heist film and rather small in scale compared to the other entries thus far. But make no mistake this is a Marvel movie. The comedy is perfect in tone with the Marvel cinematic universe. It added elements from the rest of the universe that felt natural because it made sense to the plot. The macro photography and the big action sequences are beautiful. At the core of Ant-Man is a story about families. Scott and Hank trying to reconnect with their daughters. The quiet moments of the characters interacting, especially Scott and Hope in the car, give the movie lots of heart. I do not believe this is another generic run of the mill superhero movie. It will have a special place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now with all that being said there are two glaring issues. One is the villain, Cross could have been a well constructed villain but I don't think he was as fleshed out as he could of been. Also there are some pacing issues throughout the movie. I loved the roller coaster pace that Age of Ultron and Guardians had. Big action and then wind down for intimate moments and rev up again. At times the pacing in Ant-Man felt all over the place. But it is still a great movie and a fitting conclusion to Marvel's Phase 2. 8/10
If this film isn't as good as Guardians then there is a real issue here. As far as I'm concerned Guardians was a sub-par film with a good soundtrack, and by soundtrack i mean 1 song, a bit like Frozen.
Guardians was a great movie In my opinion: Iron man: 8/10 Hulk: 6/10 Thor: 7/10 Iron man 2: 7/10 Cap: 8/10 Avengers: 9/10 Thor 2: 6/10 Iron man 3: 6/10 Cap 2: 9/10 GOG: 9/10 Avengers 2: 8/10 Ant man: 8/10
1 of the things that draws people to comics, is theres so many to choose from, each with their own tone, characters, themes..ect. This film surprised me, in being a heist film as much as Winter soldier surprised me in being a Political Thriller. Not suprised as in the "unexpected" sense..but in the how well they pulled it off and it fit. I had low hopes for Ant-man going in, but i had a ball.
eMokid 64 Hank Pym isn't Ant-Man is this film, though Pym does have a presence - I was told this, so I do not know if they make any reference to his domestic violence.
Love Tim Grierson--his very eloquent and makes insightful comments. Hope he becomes a regular. I enjoy a bigger panel, but aside from Christy who is always a great listener, Alonso and William need to stop talking over people...
I thought that the bad things in this film were the character of Hope Van Dyne not Evangeline Lilly's performance, the villain Darren Cross? Yellow Jacket was not well developed like most Marvel villains, and the story was not that great again like most Marvel films. Other than those things I really enjoyed this film.
The movie doesn´t look good. I´m glad there are many critics who don´t jump into Marvel ass-kissing bandwagon. All those films are average entertainment with basic plots but are being praised by some as if they were Casablanca, Godfather and the likes. I don´t know how some people can give the same rate they give those phenomenal films to these movies. At the end of teh day The Dark Knight keeps being the best comic book movie because acting, story, having an own style and even a great score DOES matter.
sanyrub this guy again, do you purposefully go around to all the reviews of this movie just to spout how much you dislike Marvel and anyone with an opinion different from your own? You are a moron if you believe that you can't give the same rating to a movie like Ant-Man as you can with an Oscar winning movie. I have a simple solution for you, don't watch the movies, don't comment on the videos about the movies, but alas your brain comprehends things without logic or reason.
kingragnork What´s your problem? Seems you are the one going around these videos following my comments and wasting your time on replying to me. Get lost and accept reality. These movies are average.
I'm glad you listed those things at the end there because those are all the ways I would describe this film. Movies are meant to be entertaining. You wouldn't go to a EDM concert and expect to be emotionally touched by it, it's for the excitement and heat of the moment. This dosent make it bad, just another form of entertainment. I assume you're not an idiot, but you do need to have certain expectations of what a film will give you going in. If you compare every film you watch to the best films ever made, I'll tell you you'll be one disappointed movie go-er.
The actual Heist itself was too short. I thought the meat of the movie would be Ant Man breaking into Pym Tech, getting past security, fighting a few guards, getting past more security and it all being dramatic but it wasn't
Some of these opinions come off as jaded and pompous. They did groundbreaking digital effects with the macro photography and all you got is "ehh". If I gave my heart and soul into those effects for months and then somehow came across your review I would just quit and go work at baskin robbins. The movie was well executed and a lot fun you need to lighten up
Fun fact : the stakes in this movie are highter than any other marvel movies besides the avenger and thor 2. People just don't realise how much the world would change with pym particules. Forget soldiers, just shrink robots and you can block cancer propagation. Shrink propulsion systems and you can get to mars in an hour etc etc. It makes Bruce Banner and Tony Stark inventions completly irrelevant. Wich is also why the movie makes no sense in the first place, if anyone in the world invented tech like this, you would be kept under a dungeon until the governement knows everything you know, no matter how rich you are.
You shouldn't discount Peña's character. He based it on a family member has said that the character is nearly 100% what the dude actually sounds like in real life. The mannerisms, cadence, vocabulary are all taken from a real person. Maybe you shouldn't look at it as a shtick and it will have a better impact on you. It sounds like you're allowing preconceptions to cloud the performance.
The thing wrong with this film is what's wrong with most Marvel films, they have very little depth and they basically try and be as mainstream as possible. Basic popcorn movies, that's not to say they're not well made though.
Alonso is so negative and bashes the movie but doesn't offer what he would've liked to see or what could've made it better. Evangeline Lilly was not terrible in this movie, like brings the reigns back a little bit. Also, I did not think the comedy was forced, it was actually very smart at some points
+Eric Toombs every time you see a comment that says "alonso bashes everything" that's how you can spot a fuckboy that clearly never watches this channel
Alonso and Bibs confusing their dislike of a character with not liking the actor (Lilly). She isn't supposed to have great chemistry with Rudd, that's not her character; she actively dislikes him for the first half.
Alonso reminds me of Homer Simpson as critic. He's becoming more and more jaded as time progresses because I feel he needs to impress others. Michael Pena wasn't funny or too schticky? Please. Dude was hilarious.
It's official, most of these critics are such old unimaginative farts. I feel like most of these critics have been desensitized by watching way too many movies where they don't know how to really have fun. And why do I say that? Well it's apparent that audience reactions for the most has been more positive and receptive than film critics rating this film.
Well, technically, Hank Pym only hit his wife once (and he wasn't all there at the time... yeah, I know, not much better...). The only time Pym was a habitual spousal abuser was in The Ultimates, which despite looking beautiful, is not a book I find very good story-wise.
Wait, so Alonzo says Michael Pena is too wacky, but Paul Rudd is dull? Had Paul Rudd been his normal wacky self, Alonzo would've probably had a problem with that too.
I forgot what the video was about. But let's just say it's one of the most awkward situations anybody could have ever been in. ( I think they might have removed the vid actually lol )
I realize it's natural to compare this other comic book flicks of recent years, but I honestly kind of think that's a bit unfair. This wasn't meant to be a film on the same scale as the Avengers for example. Ant-Man in the comics wasn't on that same level so why would we expect the movie to be on that same level? Having said that, it was a good flick, I had fun and the comedy worked for me. It's ok to have a lighted hearted comic book flick every now and then.
+Anthony Anderson if all of these dumb movies are supposed to connect with each other then why shouldn't we compare them? that makes no fucking sense. you marvel people will find any reason to invalidate critics
I saw their faces at the beginning of the review and said to myself "if they give this more than a 7 I have no idea how to read them." Surprise, surprise. A 6.5. I'll tell you this much, guys, I had a lot more fun watching Ant-Man than I did your review of it.
Superhero films aren't my cup of tea but I may watch this one once it's on Amazon. Film critics often frustrate me so maybe I shouldn't watch reviews. If you're such an expert on how to make a good film then do it yourself. It's bizarre to me because other art forms do not seem to have this amount of people that have never done it criticizing it as a profession. Maybe I'm wrong on that but it would pain me to see 4 people criticizing a painting if none of them knew how to paint.
I really enjoyed this movie. The visuals and action were great. Most interesting recent Marvel movies in these areas. The narrative and writing less impressive then most of the MCU. I would place it at #3 of MCU behind Cap 2 and Guardians.
I'm no expert, but, to me, this is my 3rd favorite Marvel movie, The Winter Soldier being #1. It was fun and funny. I agree that there was an issue with pacing, and the first act was a bit slow. However, I left the cinema feeling satisfied. It was smart and funny. The smaller scale in both hero and impact to the Marvel universe is refreshing to me. Bad pun, I know. The villain seemed more 3 dimensional to me than in other Marvel movies, too. But, what do I know? A 5? No way.
Paul Rudd was charismatic in this movie, I thought anyway. Evangeline Lily wasn't the best, agreed about poor chemistry, but she's a good actor for sure. The villain in this movie was the weakest part I thought. I typically don't enjoy comic book movies but this was different because It didn't take itself too seriously. 7/10 - I've really warmed to your reviews btw
Antman kicked minions ass last weekend. They aren't loosing steam at all. They're gaining. The bean counters always over predict the bottom line. Antman performed strongly last weekend because it is a great entertaining movie!
I only come to this channel occasionally to see their scores. And each time it's lower than the average. That's why I don't subscribe to this channel. These people are too pessimistic for my tastes. And at the end they said it was at 76% on RT and dropping. Actually, it has been rising. Another reason I don't trust what they have to say.
***** Oh, I know that. I've made a video on ratings vs reviews actually. But I've said before that a rating can still give you a small glimpse into what they think. Their thoughts/review lead to a specific rating. If I've watched several of their videos and don't agree on what they say, I'm now to the point where I just see their scores to see if I want to spend 13 minutes of my time watching the whole thing.
You guys take yourselves too seriously. This was the most enjoyable movie I've seen all year -- and I think Ant-man is a terrible superhero -- the only wife-beating superhero. I don't like him. But the movie was good. I poo pooed this movie all year. I wondered why Marvel was bothering to make it. In the end, I was proven wrong. I loved the movie, my wife loved the movie, and at the end, the audience APPLAUDED. APPLAUDED! That's rare these days. This is the second review in a row that you went 90% negative on. I'm finding that uninteresting. I like the way you guys dissect Game of thrones and Walking dead, but you're not good reviewers. A good reviewer doesn't tell me what he or she likes. They make general recommendations for a range of people. Siskel and Ebert didn't like Rambo II, but they said it was the best thing out that week, You might like it. They didn't trash it while it was laying. It seems these days that reviewers are merely setting themselves up as not being taken in by fluff as a sort of proving their bona fides to other reviewers. It might make you feel better, but it doesn't inform me.
I agree that they needed a more talented actress for Pyms daughter. Evangeline Lilly was way out of her depth, would have been great if they'd gotten someone with comedic chops too, like Lauren Lapkus or someone like that. Also the movie seemed to be trying really hard to be funny and landed a few gags, but it was the actors working reaklly hard to sell the average jokes that made that happen. The script itself did not contain much humour. Rudd should be commended for his ability to make a lot of average stuff land. Ultimately I liked what kind of movie it was trying to be, but think it didn't quite landed.
This movie is like if Iron Man (2008) didn't have an interesting lead and wasn't funny and had exposition dumps on the level of The Last Airbender. Same amount of product placement though.
I am a Marvel fan boy, I'll admit it (don't mind my picture of Static, one of the few DC characters that I like), but this movie was badass. Not as good as others like the Avengers or Captain America or Ironman, but still amazing. Movie is def better than Ironman 3 and and the first Thor, in my opinion. For sure not a 5, I would give at a 7.5 comparing it to all the films in the MCU
I realize that movies are a subjective media however you folks in my opinion are crazy. This was an awesome movie. The only Marvel movie that is better than this one is Winter Soldier.
These dudes never like anything. Totally rips apart a good movie . And it wasn't funny? Are you kiding? This is next and next with Ironman 1 ,in terms of origin story and funny. And it wasn't forced at all. I swear I should be a movie critic. I give a movie a rating it deserves.
These old people were boring. I thought this movie was really enjoyable. I thought the jokes actually hit pretty well. The theatre I wss in thought the jokes were funny too.
Ugh, please don't start this crap with every review having a disclaimer on whether or not you should bring your kids. It's PG-13... about a guy that dresses up in a super hero outfit that makes corny jokes. Bring your goddamn kid.
I generally go to these guys last for reviews. They act like a bunch of pretentious stuff shirts. This movie was much better than they reviewed in my opinion. For me, Chris Stuckmann is the way to go and he's still youthful enough to enjoy a wider range of movies. Once they said the humor was forced and didn't land, I was done with this review.

***** I actually really liked Age of Ultron. Anyway, even if you don't like AoU, it's a fact that The Winter Soldier is better than Ant-Man; it's not even a contest.
***** Insulting random people for no reason? That's pretty immature...
you guys got it wrong... this movie was great
Says the guy with the Black Panther thumbnail. You're clearly not bias.
Chimera1591 yeah so? I like Black Panther, among others... we're talking about Ant-Man here
marley1221 don't mind him. Anyway i enjoy the movie than AoU . best marvel movie so far for me.
marley1221 You are right. I saw it and it was great
***** so what?
I'm so tired of superhero movies. An infantile culture obsessed with pre-adolescent fantasies.
Well you better get use to them since about 30 major comic book or super hero movies are coming out in the next five years alone
***** LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, yes, the X-Men movies are extremely deep ruminations on the human condition and state of current human affairs.
And everyone else is tired of snobs who believe that their preferences are superior to other's preferences. Snobs who think that it's okay to belittle other people's interests just because they don't understand the appeal.
Why do even bother watching this review then? Haha fucking tool!
Nobody's forcing you to watch them.
The tomatometer went up actually (from 75% to 79% making it higher than AoU).
+Al “Tekken” Dano And now it's at _80%!!!_ That's higher than Christopher Nolan's _The Prestige,_ which is at 76% (which overall I think was clearly a better film). lol

***** You are soo right. The critics here are dead wrong. The whole audience dug it!! Everyone cracked up at Pena.
I hope to see Grierson as a regular/ semi-regular on the show in future.
I guess old people not going to like this movie lol
Sucks for them. Lol
***** Hey calm down. I know it's stupid that he isn't gonna see Ant-Man, but I'm also interested in that movie too. It's another John Green novel.
juandeldiablo696 True dizzle!!
***** yeah young people do some crazy shit
juandeldiablo696 How young are you to consider these reviewers "old people"? Like 10? That's what you sound like.
I'm really sad Matt Atchity isn't on this review. :(
J.J. L. I concur
Tim Grierson oozes pretentiousness
***** No way . Santi Ponce is a genius
Well....that's a bummer.

Chance Pates "The Wasp is the weakest villain in the MCU." Are you sure you watched the movie?
Yes I did. I thought he was weak and a non threat
I like most Marvel movies. But this just didn't vibe with me
I absolutely agree with this review.
I hope no one decides to see a movie or not based on their reviews!!!
Sam Shin no
Who else finds their unceasing condescension unbearable?
its like they were expecting the Dark Knight in their expectations, I loved this movie for what it was
I'm like the opposite of you guys - I went into the movie with low expectations (I mean, I didn't think it was going to suck, but I didn't think it was going to be exceptional either), but I was really pleasantly surprised by it. I certainly enjoyed it a lot. I also didn't think the references/cameos to/from other Marvel movies seemed shoehorned in and they didn't take away anything from the movie itself (for me personally).
Marvel movies are light in general.
Inferno361 Light doesn't equal corny jokes jammed in every scene...
Yes it does, did you not watch Iron Man 3, Thor:TDW, AoU and GotG? The only Marvel moVie that took itself seriously was Captain America: TWS.
Chimera1591 But Guardians was lighter in general and it was a good movie. The hype is a little too much but still nonetheless a good movie.
Inferno361 wow light howabout r rated marvel films like the punisher, blade ,or deadpool
samuel rigby Punisher sucked. Blade series was okay. Deadpool is still not out. MARVEL doesn't have a good track record with R-rated films
In some alternate earth, Edgar Wright directs Ant Man and it's great. He's my favorite filmmaker and I really wanted to see his movie
Please stop letting old white people talk about movies made for young white people. It's kind of painful.
***** But they're also more stuck in their ways and out of touch with what's popular. I can't tell how many times I've seen 50 year-old white guy reviewers simply give a superhero film a bad review because they want "these superhero films to stop".
***** To each his own, I guess.
Gehrig Harris True Dizzle!!!!!
***** I didn't read that because it's too long, but I'm going to guess it consists of you apologizing for the oldness of these white people.
***** Yeah, I don't think so.
Y'all are crazy! This is the funniest Marvel flick I've seen in my life!
8/10
Same
Alfonso's views always makes me roll my eyes
***** Except what homegirl had to say about Lily. Cause you know she was too right.
***** I usually agree with him. I had not planned on seeing this, even though I love Paul Rudd. I think I'm going to stick with my gut. The comments on Evangeline Lily sealed the deal. I'm still recovering from her character in The Hobbit movies.
***** And yet he's right.
***** Your spelling of Alonso's name makes me roll my eyes.
***** yeah, that guys a douche
Why is Christy always going into detail about her kid in fear and panicking over PG-13 stuff? God forbid he sees a horror movie by time he's 21. Then he's really fucked. It's a superhero movie. C'mon. I knew MIB was a non sense fun alien movie when I was 4, but also scared of horror movies. Kids aren't that naive.
Brenden Johnson Why not?
John Doe not fine enough to spell it right.
I liked the movie, though I have to agree with Alonso that Evangeline Lily was pretty poor in this.
Really took me by surprise.
movieman82us 100% agree with you. I'm not a fan of Evangeline as a person, but I thought she was thoroughly enjoyable in this movie.
What's wrong with Evageline as a person?
Cody case I feel like you might be a Little butthurt that they dare to criticise a film you like. It's just a feeling.
basquat76 Well I haven't seen this movie, it just weird that movies that have really good reviews and they give it a bad review... Happens Alot
Michael Pena + Michael Douglas + Anthony Mackie = GREAT Supporting cast. Rudd= solid lead. 8/10. Decent villain. Good fun comedic story.
Alonso hasn't watched Lost or The Wire. Does he have any intention to correct that?
SoulStylistJukeBox he has watched The Wire and has mentioned it several times
One complaint is that they cast Paul Rudd and didn't have him play himself. If they did that, they'd be complaining that he's just playing himself.
they love fast and furious and give good movies a hard time
The Pym Particles DID affect Caroy Stole's character....look at his behasvior. Hello?
8/10
dc comics must have paid some of them.
If this film isn't as good as Guardians then there is a real issue here. As far as I'm concerned Guardians was a sub-par film with a good soundtrack, and by soundtrack i mean 1 song, a bit like Frozen.
I completely disagree But at the very least, "Guardians" had a great soundtrack that went beyond one song.
Gaugzilla That's fair enough, a lot of my friends really liked it, but I just felt bored through most of it.
Guardians was a great movie
In my opinion:
Iron man: 8/10
Hulk: 6/10
Thor: 7/10
Iron man 2: 7/10
Cap: 8/10
Avengers: 9/10
Thor 2: 6/10
Iron man 3: 6/10
Cap 2: 9/10
GOG: 9/10
Avengers 2: 8/10
Ant man: 8/10
1 of the things that draws people to comics, is theres so many to choose from, each with their own tone, characters, themes..ect. This film surprised me, in being a heist film as much as Winter soldier surprised me in being a Political Thriller. Not suprised as in the "unexpected" sense..but in the how well they pulled it off and it fit. I had low hopes for Ant-man going in, but i had a ball.
Any anyone tell me if they address Domestic Violence at all in the movie about Hank Pym's past?
eMokid 64 It doesn't appear to be a part of the MCU version of the character.
eMokid 64 Hank Pym isn't Ant-Man is this film, though Pym does have a presence - I was told this, so I do not know if they make any reference to his domestic violence.
Arden Blue they didn't
It would have caused too much controversy to have the anti-hero Hank Pym in a PG-13 movie, SJW's & feminists would ambush the premiere.
goddammit! Hank is not a wife beater. He slapped the chick ONCE when he was having a breakdown.
Love Tim Grierson--his very eloquent and makes insightful comments. Hope he becomes a regular. I enjoy a bigger panel, but aside from Christy who is always a great listener, Alonso and William need to stop talking over people...
I've never felt more apathetic toward the release of the film.
Pretty much all Marvel movies are fun. It's just that they're very simplistic in story telling department. Ant Man is just another one on the list.
***** Probably better.
sanyrub this guy again, do you purposefully go around to all the reviews of this movie just to spout how much you dislike Marvel and anyone with an opinion different from your own? You are a moron if you believe that you can't give the same rating to a movie like Ant-Man as you can with an Oscar winning movie. I have a simple solution for you, don't watch the movies, don't comment on the videos about the movies, but alas your brain comprehends things without logic or reason.
Well sucks for all of you who aren't gonna see it. It was fucking amazing!
kingragnork What´s your problem?
What are these guys talking about? Have we seen the same movie? Loved this movie.
wait alonso what? you gave it 6.2, then why did u give it rotten on RT
WHERE THE FUCK IS BEN!?!?
After the "incest porn" incident no one takes him seriously anymore 😔
Yekay yeke come again?
Yekay yeke what video was that?
I forgot what the video was about. But let's just say it's one of the most awkward situations anybody could have ever been in. ( I think they might have removed the vid actually lol )
I heard someone else mentioned this before so I guess it was somewhat of a big deal, I'm so curious lol
There are a few spoilers in this review.
7:30
Agree about Rudd ... massively dissagree about Lilly.
I actually thought Lilly was really good in this
If Alonso Duralde shaved his beard, he'd look like comic book Darren Cross, bright pink skin and all.
Ant-man wasn't bad. But it did feel a little like it is more about setting up stuff for futur marvel movies, civil war maybe?
I really enjoyed this movie. The visuals and action were great. Most interesting recent Marvel movies in these areas. The narrative and writing less impressive then most of the MCU. I would place it at #3 of MCU behind Cap 2 and Guardians.
What can I say? Critics' opinions mean nothing to me. I saw it. I liked it. I look forward to the sequel.
just TRY to enjoy the multi million dollar movie thats sole purpose is to entertain you
I'm no expert, but, to me, this is my 3rd favorite Marvel movie, The Winter Soldier being #1. A 5? No way.
Judy Greer is great, shes so funny on Married.
Ant Man? So this is like Spider Man, where you have a superhero that has the powers of an insect.
Some of the best humor in the movie is actually to do with some Bay Area inside jokes.
Just watched it, and loved it.
If you go in looking to have fun, you will.
It wasn't groundbreaking in any way, but was it fun.
I liked it. I agree with Bibbs. 7.5 is the right score for this movie.
Michael Douglas carries this film. He really towers above the rest of the cast. He's an amazing actor and I really hope Marvel brings him back.
WOW... I loved this movie...so...I have no idea how these dudes are like meh....
I love the way Bibbs waves, it's so cute!
I give a movie a rating it deserves.
where did you dig these guys ?
What movie did you people watch?!... No wonder the dislike counter is already at 230.
I'm convinced that Alonso bases his opinions on who he knows involved with productions. His opinions are always so bizarre.
My four-word review of Ant-Man: Cheesy pile of crap.
I strongly disagree about Michael Pena. He made this movie more enjoyable than it would've been without him.
These old people were boring. I thought this movie was really enjoyable. I thought the jokes actually hit pretty well. The theatre I wss in thought the jokes were funny too.
Alonso was spot on the entire time, I disliked Evangeline's acting since Lost. You're not missing too much
Tim and Alonso nailed it perfectly.
Thank you, Alonso, for your comments on Evangeline Lily. I don't know who she knows or who she did to become a "star" but... unh-uh. Needs to go.
Alonso will complain about *anything*.
Adds to the dynamic, perhaps?
avengers: the stake is too big bring it down. antman: theres no stake , bring it up...
Alonso continuing his strike for the debbie downer crown.
Cristy using her son to call the movie Scary is weird.... I know 4 year olds that weren't scared at all. There is a reason it's PG13........
