This song reminds me when I was younger and life was so simple. Makeing mud pies outside, drawing in dollar store coloring books, getting box’s in the mail randomly from my grandparents pact full of crayons and silly puddy, and going to bed after playing with my toys with my best friend, my sister. Everything made me happy. There were no worries. I didn’t care what anyone thought of me. Didn’t realize I was growing up. Didn’t realize my parents were getting older. Just inner and outer peace. I really…really miss that. I think the worse part about all the good times is that I can never go back to them.
“start talking again when i know what to say” is my favorite lyric it makes my tear up ever time i hear it ive always held things in for such a long time i cant even say them out loud bc i don’t know how to say them
That's life...I mean that's how I see it...the music going soft but also kinda joyful but also calm and it just makes you love life...and then the lyrics, they're like not even that special but the whole "give yourself time and start again" idea is just so pretty... I love this song (and I mean his version) i love how it just came in my life at the time I needed it and that I'm able to find that "life is beautiful" in it and it gives me hope again every time I hear it...
I’ve listened to this cover like a zillion times in the past month. Not a Micheal Cera “maniac” but always enjoyed his stuff, but I found this and also found a deeper appreciation for this guy, such a talented dude 🤘🏼🔥💯
michael cera should play midwest emo
This is one of those songs that doesnt hook you immediately but is really something special.

Blaze Foley's version gives off whiskey in a field, kinda gritty vibes but this gives off heavy coat with a cup of coffee in a snow storm vibes

Michael Cera makes great music, and all of his movies have great soundtracks. The prime Cera years from 2007-10 were golden.
Blaze Foley was a lyrical genius and his songs never fail to bring a tear to my eye
michael cera puts me back in touch with my humanity during depression ruts
I'm goin' down to the railway station, gonna get a ticket to ride
Michael Cera did big time justice with this cover, he brings out the melody alot more and the complementing guitar and piano is perfect
