For the very first time, Mixmag Live departed the UK and arrived in the United States. Deservingly, New York City was the first to host Mixmag Live abroad.
Brooklyn's premier nightclub Output hosted Mixmag Live's debut in North America, which honored a league of pioneers not only in techno, but also in music technology.
RICHIE HAWTIN led the charge at Mixmag Live, presenting his MODEL 1 PLAYdifferently mixer alongside a strong showing of talents including house artist Louie Vega, MODEL 1 ambassador Matador and rising star Julia Govor. The party's was celebration of the December Tech Issue which features Hawtin, Matador, Nicole Moudaber, Hito, Dubfire, Chris Liebing, Loco Dice, Paco Osuna and Fabio Florido.
For years, Hawtin has been a maestro of both the underground and also a sharp voice and mind behind the intertwined world of music and technology. He found his start in the iconic Detroit scene in the 90s, prominently with his work as Plastikman, pushing the sound of minimal techno to the forefront and helping to define the genre in its early stages.
After establishing his labels and leaving an imprint on the city of Detroit and the genre of techno, Hawtin went on to begin exploring the many realms with which music could be combined. He established ENTER., a specially curated party at Space Ibiza that called upon a wide variety of talents across five rooms in the nightclub. Eventually, his personal love of Japanese culture and specifically, of sake, was also integrated into the event and now remains an ongoing passion project of the Hawtin legacy.
Together, the league arrives as ambassadors of MODEL 1 and masters of their craft. It's set to be a special night in Brooklyn for this Mixmag Live celebration of all things music and technology with some of the underground's finest.

Richie’s sound is so unique. The man is an absolute craftsman. And he always looks like he’s having a great time with it. Always smiling and not trying “to look cool”.

Richie Hawtin is literally a genius. If he was a classical composer he’d be Beethoven, if he was in a rock band he’d be Pink Floyd . This man is so far ahead of everybody else in this game . Plus he’s one of the nicest guys you could ever meet .

Richie Hawtin is the benchmark to which every DJ should ascribe to!! His inovation, creation, adaptation and proclamation paved a road for so many DJs after him!! Gawd.....those Windsor-Detroit days are still ringing in my ears!!!

Myself being a Detroiter got to see him many times at underground events, DEMF (Movement too) and just recently Paxahau threw a show at a Warehouse in our city’s Eastern MARKET. What a blast it’s been watching this guy through out the past few decades

One of his best hybrid live/dj sets of the late minimal era. I've seen Richie DJ and play live since the mid '90s, and this is one of the best of his digital mixes outside of Plastikman live during the Cube tour. His frequency manipulation and low end programming are insane, his use of efx absolutely brilliant and mad creative.

Major return to form, this is the best Richie Hawtin set I've heard since DE9: Closer to the Edit. Probably like most, I've been critical of some of the directions he's taken in the past few years, but this shows when he's at the top of his game, there's precious few in techno who can surpass him. I never got to go to that place. I heard it only lasted 2 years or less. Sucks when that kind of thing happens to such a good venue. Wish I got to go at some point. Wasnt old enough yet

Love this guy. Love this club.
Been to this club once and it was awesome. No one goes to fight or "hook up". Everyone is there to dance and have fun, no matter the dance skill level. Awesome house and electronic music. Some of the best! Def returning and recommend anyone to go there.
