What is the brand of transfer paper that you’re using when I clicked on your link it says page not found and I know on my glow Forge. There’s certain finals I can’t use and in your video. It looks like you’re using masking tape.
I did some engraving on glowforge proofgrade leather and there was some smoke inside. Is that normal? I have only had my glowforge for about 1 week so not sure what to expect. I also have the pro
Just curious, is there a reason you did the cut separate from the engrave? Also, wouldn't it avoid charring if you left the masking tape on when engraving?
I remove the masking so that I don’t have to waste time picking it off after the engrave. This one wouldn’t be too bad, but the more detail, the longer it takes. Since the engraving dust just brushes away and doesn’t stain, I find it much easier to wipe that off instead of peeling away small pieces of masking.
@@KarleyHall Thanks! I found some on Amazon right after I asked, too. I didn't know what they were called, but luckily the internet is useful for stupid people sometimes :)
Woah- I just played it on my phone and it sounds really robotic! But from my computer, it sounds really clear. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I’ll have to look into that!
What masking paper/tape did you use? I was overzealous one day at my local leather store and purchased two very nice sheets of veg tan leather. Then I got home and realized I need masking paper/tape! Did some online looking and got overwhelmed. I don't want to buy a truckload (lol). I'm going to stick with the Glowforge leather that comes with the tape already attached after this!
Someone else commented about the audio on this one! It’s wild because on a computer or with headphones it sounds clear, but on a phone is pretty rough! I’m not sure what happened, but I’m still learning! If you have any tips, let me know 😉
@@KarleyHall I watched your vid on a computer and the audio was messed up. How did you record the audio? And I am not hating, just teasing you about it
Leaving them overnight would be a good solution. Glue is a good option for those who do not want to invest in a hat press. If you have a hat press- double side heat activated glue is the fastest way to attach leather patches.
You video was very informative. I’m trying to engrave on leather wallets. Do you know where I can find any blank wallets?
What size are your patches? Thanks for the tutorial. Can't wait to try making patches out.

Now that you’ve had the patch on the hat for a while, does the glue hold up well over time? And thanks for a great tutorial!

Hi how thick is your leather mine is 1/8 and it won't cut in one pass
Been using my glowforge for a few days now. Biggest pitfall is speed and camera. Which is strange considering it has 45w laser compared to others.
Thank you this was an outstanding tutorial, can't wait to give it a try.

@@KarleyHall oh alright, makes sense .. Thank you, useful/inspiring video & information 😊
What about the tool you used to measure the thickness of the leather? Great video, btw. Incredibly helpful.
I got those digital calipers from Harbor Freight for less than $10 :)

How do you exhaust your machine?
On illustrator when I make the dash lines GLOWFORGE converts it to a solid line, any help on that situation please ?
Make sure to outline your path!
@@KarleyHall thank You will try that right now !!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Great video! Is this the Glowforge Plus or Pro? Do you know if this would work on the Glowforge Plus?
This is the Pro but yes it’ll work on all of the machines :)
I have ordered black patches with silver for the logo. I now how the glowforge. How would I get the silver look in the engraving?
Look for a laser safe leatherette that is black that engraves silver :) it’s a two tone leatherette so when you engrave it, it’ll reveal the silver!
@@KarleyHall thank you so much!!! I have been searching forever!

Everything is linked in the video description 🥰 the masking is linked under transfer paper. You can also use blue painters tape!
@@KarleyHall thanks! Yeah, I noticed the link after I posted the question.
Super cute project!
Great vid but were you underwater when you made it because thats what the audio sounds like ;)

With a wireless lav mic.
This is so cute!!
Awesome. I need to try this💖 thank you
Thanks for the video! I love how you gave all the information in the video and step by step. Where do you like to buy your hats?
Since I don’t sell them, I buy most of mine at target! rstyle.me/cz-n/evde3wc85vp
Thank you! This video was awesome!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
This was perfect! Thank you!!!
No sewing required?! I’m in!
Where do you get your hats?
I don’t resell mine so I just buy hats I like. This one is from Target. Linked in the description.
@@KarleyHall Thank you! I really like that hat.
What program are you using?
Adobe illustrator!
@@KarleyHall thank you for reply!
Sounds like it takes far too long for the glue to dry. No way is it cost effective to make.
